Do You realistically expect to be going abroad in 2021?

Having missed out on a holiday abroad in 2020 I'm thinking about what will be possible in 2021. I'm scheduled for my vaccination in about April 2021 bit despite this its going to depend a lot on the country you're intending to visit.

So with vaccines, self quarantine and pre holiday testing do people think they will be going abroad this year?

Looking at going to Egypt late October this year, what do you reckon the chances are of still having to quarantine back upon arrival in the UK - it's no problem for me to do but out of the question for DH.

Impossible to say at this point @FelineUK. By then all UK adults who are eligible should be fully vaccinated, but we don't know if shops and hairdressers in the UK will be able to reopen as planned on 12th April yet, so how on Earth can anyone say with any degree of authority what the regulations will be about holidays to Egypt in late October???

I’m hoping to travel to my own house in Spain in my Campervan in August. Minimal contact with anyone.

Ragwort · 10/03/2021 20:01

No, can't face the stress of booking and then worrying about it, hopefully will do a house swap with friends later in the year, we both live in 'tourist' type destinations so will enjoy that. After three periods of furlough I am honestly looking forward to getting back to work rather than having more time off Blush. Would be happy if my DH (WFH) went away and I had the house to myself!

All travel in 2022 should be fine. Why should it not be?
2021 possibly not till late summer, or autumn.
I could just about understand if people said they weren't going to bother fir 2021. But to say no to 2022 is just being a miser.

I’ve got my fingers crossed for 2021. We have a chalet in France, so wouldn’t need to commit to accommodation bookings. My husband is desperate to scatter his father’s ashes on the mountain 😔

kittensarecute · 12/03/2021 20:25

I have no plans to go abroad any time soon.

SaltySeaBird · 12/03/2021 20:29

Yes, I work in travel so I hope people can travel in general!

Last year we had one overseas (July time) trip that was lovely and much needed.

I currently have multiple overseas trips booked for this year and hope they all go ahead. I’m confident our August one will, I’m less sure about the early June trip but far from writing it off yet.

I'd like to see family (live very far away) but seems unlikely.
Even just getting the kids' passports renewed (foreign ones) will be a big headache due to covid.

newstart1234 · 12/03/2021 20:34

Yes I will. I’m visiting family abroad ASAP, it’ll be nearly 18months without DC seeing GPs by summer.

thesugarbumfairy · 12/03/2021 20:36

Not with my family, no. Ive pushed back our summer holiday abroad again to 2022. Its not just about whether we're technically allowed to - I'm hoping it will be less restrictive when we get there in terms of activities etc.
However I'm really hoping I can still go on our girls weekend to Spain which we pushed back to October. Both my friends that I'm travelling with have had their vaccine and I'm 46 so I should have had mine by then too - my fingers are crossed that all will be ok in both countries for travel by then

I can’t imagine going 18 days without seeing my grandchildren let alone 18 months....I really hope you get to see your family soon
mumsiedarlingrevolta · 12/03/2021 20:39

We are meant to be going to two family weddings this summer-both postponed from last summer.

One is in Israel, the other Ibiza.

what do you think?

newstart1234 · 12/03/2021 20:42

Thank you Kitkat
