@DBML
@puzzledandoissedoff

And anyone else 😊

Wondered if you’d like to continue the Florida discussion?

I’ve not cancelled August yet, I know it’s only a slim chance of going.

Btw I made some pooh bear toast, it was pretty similar and easy to do.

I need to read what they did in Shanghai- I don’t fancy wearing a mask.
Depends on virus data in next few weeks and what restrictions there will be. I’d go if on balance safe to do so.

@DBML in case you have not seen this !!!

@Pomegranatepompom

Thank you for tagging me in! I knew it was today, but has forgotten, so good reminder!

Also seen Donald hint at opening borders to Europe! 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Pomegranatepompom · 27/05/2020 12:50

I just read and saw some of the pics in Shanghai - if those are the measures they need to do, we might defer until later in the year.

@DBML Do you think schools will be a a bit flexible re holidays Sept-Dec? it seems unlikely all pupils will be back full time.

Donald will want our money especially before November !

@Pomegranatepompom

I’d like to think so. I’d like to think schools would be sympathetic to the families needing a break and also to families who have real fears about sending their children back. I’m not sure attendance will be 2021’s priority, but who knows?

We are still hoping that our holiday goes ahead. July. We are heading for the Keys/Gulf Coast though and will not be spending too much time at the parks, so I’m not too worried about restrictions.
I can even manage the stupid 14 day quarantine on return.

All we need is Trump to allow travel.
FCO advice to change.

Fingers crossed!!

Pomegranatepompom · 27/05/2020 13:24

If lots of restrictions, we’ll defer until October. DD loves the parade although I think she’d understand. Also the parks will likely be quiet so 6 of one.,,,
Keys/ Gulf coast will be amazing - looking forward to taking DC when they are older.

Re school- I don’t know if I’d feel too guilty to take them out. I’m worried they’ve been set back (although we are trying !).
DD is year 2 and DS is year 4. Both either at or above where they should be according to teachers, although I think DD struggles a bit with writing. We’ve just got her some books to do. Sorry off topic.

Hi
We're WDW mad here, tend to go every other year.
We had friends with DVC and borrowed points for a few visits.
Stayed at Caribbean beach, board walk, Saratoga springs and old key west several times.

Booked for end of August this year.
Two nights at Universal hard rock and then Coronado springs for 14 nights.
Booked last April with free dining, $200 dollars gift card and photo pass deal. We also managed to wrangle a business class return flight. We were so excited about that.

We should be able to move our booking but at the moment would loose free dinning etc which is a big deal.

Feel really sad.

I can't see that a socially distanced theme park is going to be much fun. Universal are talking about no water or misting on rides so that's one of my favourites out.(Dudley do rights)

We found that with the free queue skip from the hard rock Universal rides are all the same.
Spider-Man, Simpson's, transformers, kong and fast furious etc are the same ride just different pictures.
The wizard of world is great but the theming and magic is just not there in the rest of the park. also allergy food wise they just aren't as good as Disney.

We love the dining plan as Disney is so safe for allergies and eating outside the resort is problematic, even buying in the shops and cooking is tough as their labelling is rubbish.

I keep swinging between cancelling and rebooking for next year and saying fuck it and going this year!

Pomegranatepompom · 27/05/2020 13:29

@justforthecake I feel much the same. We’re going to keep waiting. Although considering October as well. We were staying @ beach club with free dining, has not got as far as booking universal.
The restrictions they start with may well have changed by August ??

@justforthecake - I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you. Someone has posted link to the livestream of Orange County task force over on thdibb.

We are planing a very similar holiday to yours next year, we already have the Hard Rock booked with ATD from 31 Aug - 3 Sep 2021. My plan was to book CSR Tower room for 7 nights with free dining if offered and upgrade to the DDP then rent points for 3 nights at the Poly. Originally, we were looking at 11 nights at Beach Club but we all enjoyed the Poly so much last year that we are desperate to stay again.

Sea world, Disney up next

justforthecake · 27/05/2020 15:58

Sea world CEO,

Sea world, bush Gardens and discovery cove

Public health has been to the park for a walk through of their plan for reopening

Sea world looking at June 10th for staff then June 11th for public
Over all
Face coverings- employees and guest over 2, guest encourage to provide their own.
Physical distancing- ground markings, signage, contactless payments, plexus glass- no finger print scans.
Cleaning increased - lots of hand sanitizer around the park.
Employee and guest temp check
Work and sick policy update
Covid 19 training for staff
Buffet food gone, more prepackaged food

Animal exhibits- floor and save markings, certain tours and interactions will be one party at a time
Modifications will be made to certain exhibits and interactions.

One ways systems, staggered seating

parades, meet and greets removed

Hand sanitizer at embarkation and disembarkation for every ride.

Water park- no evidence that covid 19 spreads through water. All of above will apply as well as No mixing of parties of guests on rides- I.e you won't have some random in your raft!

Pomegranatepompom · 27/05/2020 16:00

Thanks so much @justforthecake

justforthecake · 27/05/2020 16:13

WDW Jim McPhee
Opening plan
MK&AK July 11th
Hs &EP 15th July

Soft opening so cast members and previews in lead up to July 11th

Limits on park numbers

New reservation system- advanced reservation booking

Enhanced protective measures- face coverings for guests and cast

Significant reductions on guest numbers.

Enhanced cleaning
Temperature measuring at entry arrival.

Cast interactions will be changed

Mobile food ordering, cashless systems, closed play areas, plexi glass- probably no character dining.

No parades or fireworks that create crowds.

There will be lots of communication before guest arrival for vacation guests.

My thoughts.

We plan our Florida holiday with almost military precision. We have a spreadsheet with historical crowd data and we know what park we are going to what day, we plan our table service and book them to maximise character meals etc, fast passes are booked based on what rides and attractions we want to do and projected wait times etc.
The reserving of admission and reduced numbers makes me nervous.
I feel like paying full price for a WDW trip with no fireworks and no parades is not a viable holiday. If you have booked restaurants and fast passes but can't get into that park what then?

justforthecake · 27/05/2020 16:16

The queue in Disney springs to get a virtual time to enter world of Disney is 3hrs.

Pomegranatepompom · 27/05/2020 16:23

@justforthecake I think I’ll rearrange for October in the hope there aren’t as many restrictions

OP posts:
justforthecake · 27/05/2020 16:26

Having been at Disney during the 9/11 attacks and the Zika virus outbreak I have no doubt they will make the parks as safe as possible and that they will work overtime to ensure a great experience for their guests, they are way ahead of the other parks with magic bands, virtual queue capability etc
