dh and I want to go somewhere really lovely for a weekend for our wedding anniversary this year (end sept). We have rather neglected our anniversary for a few years since dd has been around, we have had a bit of a tough time recently which we have come through and have really sorted out and we are madly in lurve . We would really love to go somewhere relaxing and beautiful and stay somewhere small and intimate and fab. Nothing too designery really, maybe with nice antiques and big snuggly bed and a balcony with a view...

All suggestions welcomed...

Jura, I stayed in a farmhouse outside Barga (north of Lucca) one year - the most beautiful area and relatively very few tourists.

Kewcumber · 13/06/2007 11:16

don;t know if there are many nice hotels though - think its mostly villas?

FelicityMontgomery · 13/06/2007 11:17

Villa san Michelle looks gorgeous Azure.

i'd say that's your problem solved CD. Florence is a short axi ride away from there.

Naples is also on my Italy hit list of places to do next though. I think I'd love the chaotic vibrant atmosphere.

Sorrento is gorgeous too. Now there you would get a balcony with a view, and if you tired of all the shagging you could visit Pompei and naples on the train.

Amsterdam, though I haven't been there for years. There must be a lovely canalside hotel there. Maybe not this Truelove Hotel !

CountessDracula · 13/06/2007 11:20

yes that does look lovely

BUT
We want to be in town!

We like to go out, come back, go out, come back

I don't want to stay out of town, have to flog into town then spend all day there traipsing around and then have to get back then not be able to jsut step out and get nice food but be constrained to hotel food

FelicityMontgomery · 13/06/2007 11:28

I'll think on.

Hassler, Rome. Yes, I know you said no to Rome.

FelicityMontgomery · 13/06/2007 11:29

So what about naples?

It's on thre coast so I'm sure there will be hotels with sea views but also a bustling city, with things to see and great food.

CountessDracula · 13/06/2007 11:33

this sort of thing I like but has no balcony or availability!

Kewcumber · 13/06/2007 11:39

bundle · 13/06/2007 11:40

Kewcumber · 13/06/2007 11:40

beautiful almost Californian style pool in the Arts and Barcelona is so nice...

Also fiendishly expensive now its owned by Ritz-Carlton, but you wouldn't want to skimp would you?

FelicityMontgomery · 13/06/2007 11:40
