Love to hear what plans people have.
We are 2 ad 2ch (12 and 14).
We're going on a weeks cruise at May half term
and a week in Spain -last week of school summer holidays.
can't wait :)

Mine are in year 9 and 11. We used to have a big long haul holiday each Easter but swapped to Feb half term this year so my year 11 DS can revise as all but one GCSE is before the May half term. He did Science in year 10 but we had our holidays as usual that year. To further complicate it he also did English and maths in the Autumn of year 11.

fluffydressinggown · 27/04/2014 14:46

We are going to Santorini for two weeks in June.

ProfondoRosso · 27/04/2014 14:49

Gaucn in the Andalucian mountains in May, Cape Cod in October. We've saved our asses off and are child free for now but may not be for all that much longer.

foxdongle · 27/04/2014 14:55

Glad to hear that Feb half term is safe. We like to go then. So Easter and May h/term no go in yr 11? - we want to give him the best chance. (We will be Shock if he does them early, but you never know).

May half term would be a definite no I think. It is in the middle of the exams and wouldn't be a very relaxing holiday if your DC are revising or you are stressing about them revising. Also there is the risk of delayed flights back and missing exams. (This happened in a thread a couple of years ago)

TheHappyCamper · 27/04/2014 15:31

I also love hearing about other people's holiday plans. Everyone is so different and you all sound so excited Smile

We are going to France for 4 weeks camping in July/August, for the first time. We have booked 5 different sites, travelling all round the country, down to the Riviera and finishing up at DLP. We have a dd (5). I am ridiculously excited and probably won't want to come home!

(I'll add that we are very experienced campers, but usually do UK!)

foxdongle lots of schools hold revision classes over Easter - you could check what his school did this year.

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 27/04/2014 16:21

We are going to Turkey for 2 weeks in August. We love it there and can't wait Smile

Bunbaker · 27/04/2014 16:36

Lucy people who can take long holidays. We can only do a week at a time.

foxdongle · 27/04/2014 16:58

bun if we can't do 10 nights/2 weeks, then we tend to go for a week , but go twice a year (or 3 if we can wangle it)
lots to look forward to over the year and I miss ddog too much when I'm away for a long time!

Bunbaker yes - we are planning on doing the canoe trip under the Pont D'Arc etc - the scenery looks stunning.

Profondo DH and I spent a week in Gaucin years ago - it is gorgeous. The trip to Ronda is well worth it - though the roads are a bit bendy and scary.

Creamycoolerwithcream · 27/04/2014 17:11

We normally do 10 or 11 nights twin centre holidays or stay somewhere for a few days and then go on a week long cruise. I enjoy that length of holiday.

vindscreenviper · 27/04/2014 17:37

Spinaroo Arf, in his dreams! He just likes cycling up really steep hills. This year he is after the special badge you get if you cycle up & down Ventoux by all 3 roads on the same day, I'm exhausted just typing that out. Our gite is owned by a family who make AOC Baumes de Venise and grow cherries so I'm hoping to spend my days sampling the local produce and occasionally peering over the top of my book to check the DCs haven't drowned in the pool.

Bunnythe unfortunately I couldn't get booked for the place I wanted in Vaison so we're giving this new place near Malaucene a go. I love Vaison, especially going into the square after dinner for an ice cream sundae. The DC are really excited, they love walking through the Toulourenc gorge on really hot days. Can you tell that I really love my holidays Wink

Ooh just noticed this>Dragon raah!

KettleBelle · 27/04/2014 17:43

Villa in Menorca at the end of July. Me and DH, MIL, DD, DS + his GF. Sooooo excited!

kaizen · 27/04/2014 18:01

Walking and swimming in sea caves in the algarve in June, and swimming in the Scilly Isles in September. Only me to please Grin

foxdongle · 27/04/2014 19:06

creamy where are you going instead of Ukraine?

and people going on/been on cruises, how formal is formal night? we've only been on informal cruises. I like to dress up, but not too posh. is a black knee length lace dress with gold wedges and a bit of bling good enough?( I'm not buying so hoping it will be! )

The HappyC will check with sch, have some friends with dcs in yr11 and sure they were revising over easter.

Your outfit sounds perfect, absolutely lovely.
Bulgaria, we are visiting a place called Nessebur. I actually stayed there 25 years ago so it will be nice to return with my DH and DC and definitely getting better than getting shot in Ukraine.
Who are you cruising with?

CaptWingoBings · 27/04/2014 19:12

We have just come back from Abu Dhabi. Went to our cottage in Cornwall in Feb half term, and will be there again in the summer. Otherwise some weekends away camping/visiting friends.

42notTrendy · 27/04/2014 19:28

Bunbaker, thanks for the tip about the ferry. We honeymooned on Lake Como too many years ago. Am looking forward to being at the Lakes again, this time with DS.
Brilliant reading about holiday plans, am also slightly jealous of the sicily one. We were going to go to Sicily, then on the ferry to Malta, but we couldn't get flights from one UK airport, to Sicily and back from Malta.

Taffeta · 27/04/2014 20:13

Liguria in July, one week only. 11+ in September. Not a fun year.

Spinaroo · 27/04/2014 20:30

vindscreenviper impressive enough! Your holiday sounds idyllic.

foxdongle · 27/04/2014 22:09

creamy I'm glad outfit sounds ok, cus I might wear it twice!
we're going with P and O on Oceana. only been on Ocean Village 1 and 2 and Thomson (island escape) before - all very good. What about you?

OP posts:
Creamycoolerwithcream · 27/04/2014 22:20

P&O sounds good. I'm trying Thomson this year but have been with Disney (the best), Royal Caribbean a couple of times, NCL and Carnival. They have all been excellent, cruises are so good for Tweens and teens.
Re the formal nights, think of it as wearing what you would wear to a Christmas party. There is always quite a bit of black and bling, velvet and lace so your outfit sounds perfect. I love people watching, especially the young children in their little outfits. The girls often wear white or cream ballerina length dresses and sparkly pumps, so cute.

foxdongle · 27/04/2014 23:03

I think there's also 60s/70s and back and white theme nights. sounds quite fun now I think about it, was slightly worrying it would be stuffy and we wouldn't be posh enough! Thanks you've put my mind at rest.
Didn't want to go getting tonnes of new stuff for one week - dh got a new suit and got dd a couple dresses and ds some chinos and a few new shirts. I've had a new bikini-got so many clothes already-want to save some £ for the spa!
working my way up to Disney/RC hopefully next year (still not decided)

wigglesrock · 28/04/2014 07:16

Ibiza - first week in July - we are already counting down the days Smile - me, husband & dds (9, 6 & 3)

Then a few days away in October to Paris - no kids.

deepinthewoods · 28/04/2014 07:30

Not sure when or if as we are moving house. But I do know where- has to be Gozo. I have been many places, from Bali to seychelles and USA, but I have fallen in love with this magical gem of an island. I will be back, but not sure when.
