Not sure how to link old thread, can anyone help me do this?

Onto UCAT and personal statements now - good luck everyone!

Echoing this - the Oxbridge thread has got lots of people worrying that they have got an on hold from Bristol - seems to be just part of their process of keeping in touch rather than anything alarming.
Hope the interviews this week go/have gone well.

maybemedmum · 28/11/2024 12:05

Leeds interview just in for DD :)

Optimum19 · 28/11/2024 12:11

Well done. Mine just got one too. Delighted!

Lurea · 28/11/2024 12:36

congratulations for all these interviews!

maybemedmum · 28/11/2024 12:54

Congratulations @Optimum19!

rightmove · 28/11/2024 16:57

Nottingham offer for interview received by DD

mumsneedwine · 28/11/2024 18:04

😊😊😊😊😊

mumsneedwine · 28/11/2024 06:36

@justjuggling 90% of people will get an on hold from Bristol. It just means they've processed his application ! He's still in with a chance of an interview - they just go through every one first and then send them out invites (except to the insanely high ones). If the UCAT has gone above 3,000 this year it will be total madness. Hang on in there !!!

Thank you @mumsneedwine . Neither me nor DD are blessed with patience!

Justlikingit · 28/11/2024 20:56

Congratulations on more interview invitations. Seems more universities are getting there too

OnePinkCat · 30/11/2024 10:41

hello does anyone know the answer to this. University of Birmingham: if you don’t go to a contextual school do you still get points for your postcode?

mumsneedwine · 30/11/2024 12:11

@OnePinkCat yes, POLAR4 dats is used

mumsneedwine · 30/11/2024 12:13

@OnePinkCat apologies, meant no. Polar data only used to give a score so can go to same school but get different scores

My daughter has this, its a busy week here! Aberdeen in a couple of weeks all done by mid December!

How did she get on?

How did she get on?

Mixed bag so far, she didn’t enjoy being online for Glasgow and has preferred face to face. She said all interviewers have been encouraging and friendly though. Apparently Edinburgh plans to make some offers before Christmas!

Good luck to all with interviews lined up!

Something to be said for chatting with other candidates going throw the same thing, even if you have to spend the day travelling, as opposed to popping out of lessons for an hour. Amazing to hear Edinburgh making offers before Christmas but if they have interviewed most Scottish candidates and have identified a preferred group then why not?

Is Aberdeen in person?

Think there were some online slots for Aberdeen but that might just have been for international applicants, we’re off on a road trip!

Great news @islaoo !

Hope the recent spate of interviews have gone well. DD has her first later this week - 800+-mile round trip to Newcastle.

ipredictariot5 · 03/12/2024 21:01

PSHE · 03/12/2024 21:50

2.Less than 32.5 and received an interview.

thanks

JuMcGoo · 04/12/2024 07:04

Good luck to everyone with interviews coming up and for those waiting on responses.

My daughter received an interview invite from Leicester about 2-3 weeks ago then one from Manchester a week later. Had a UEA invite on Monday.

Just waiting on Liverpool.

CopingHagen · 04/12/2024 07:35

Good luck all with interviews.

Invite to Leeds here and on hold for Bristol.

DC wobbling a little about not having applied to any London Uni - cost a major consideration unfortunately - but head down on mocks and interview prep.

HGC2 · 04/12/2024 09:15

My DD is 3 interviews down now and can barely remember a question asked at any of them, what she did say though was that the book recommended earlier in the thread was so helpful but that the questions were all asked slightly differently so rehearsing a set answer to "standard" questions wouldn't have helped. That said, she has no idea how she has done at all!

OP posts:
KielderWater · 04/12/2024 09:24

I doubt interviewers would have been impressed if they felt an answer had been rehearsed, so probably best they were different questions. It is about understanding the reason for questions and what they are looking for in answers. For example, when asking about your weaknesses that they are looking for self-reflection and development, not a list!
