DD is also wondering whether to do online/in person for Manchester. She says she will worry about wifi and perhaps come across better in person. But it is a long way for us to travel...

kk10 · 24/11/2022 18:38

@Monkey2001 all the best to your DS. What are your DS's other 3 choices?

mumsneedwine · 24/11/2022 18:41

@Monkey2001 you only need one 😊. Good luck to DS.

UEA and Newcastle w/c 5/12, Leicester and Sheffield in January.

Good to hear about all the interview invites. DD just waiting to hear from Notts, which they say will be the end of the month. Good luck to all the BMATers tomorrow.

@ASeagull23 we have to take a flight to get there but, on balance, although they say there’s no advantage to one or the other, DD feels like it’s better to make the effort to attend in person. If they were only doing interviews online, we would have preferred that.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 24/11/2022 22:47

DD also got an interview for Manchester. She has booked an in-person slot.

Just nervously awaiting the bmat scores tomorrow now. DD doesn't think she did very well so it has given her a bit of a boost to get the Manchester offer tonight.

GoldieRetrieversRule1 · 25/11/2022 08:54

Best of luck to BMAT students today!

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 25/11/2022 09:17

DS a bit disappointed with his BMAT scores but not sure what's good!!! We'll see what Cambridge say.
Pleased he didn't do any other BMAT unis.

Monkey2001 · 25/11/2022 09:22

@Lottsbiffandsmudge DS1 was told by Downing for 2019 entry that a total over 10 for the first 2 sections should be enough for an interview and they don't look at S3 - most don't look at S3.

Monkey2001 · 25/11/2022 09:22

I meant most Cambridge colleges don't look at S3

UCATBMAT · 25/11/2022 09:43

One interview has been confirmed and booked.

Over 13 total BMAT scores (including 3A in part 3) which I am hoping is enough for an interview at Lancaster.

I am still waiting for interview decisions from Bristol and Newcastle with a UCAT of 2930.

As @Monkey2001 said, it only takes one, though.

I hope everyone's BMAT scores are what they need for an interview.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 25/11/2022 09:44

DD also a bit disappointed with BMAT scores but not surprised as she knew that section 2 had gone badly and that then threw her off for section 3 as well. 5.4 in section 1, 4.5 in section 2 and 3.5A in section 3. Hopefully it will be enough for interview but I guess we'll have to wait and see. She aced ucat so it was always a risk putting two bmat institutions down, but just got to hope now that it will be enough for her to get the interviews that she is hoping for!

Thanks he got 5.9, 5.5 and 3.5A so over that.
He's applied to emmanuel and no mail yet so it's a waiting game. All emails supposed to be out by end of tomorrow.
Then he has to wait for Birmingham....

medParent · 25/11/2022 10:31

My DD's BMAT score
section 1 : 5.7
section 2 : 6.0
section 3 : 2.5A
Daughter is bit disappointed with section 3 results.
She has put UCL and Imperial for BMAT unis.
I think she will get interview for Imperial with the above stats.
What does others think of UCL interview with these stats. Min req for section 3 is 2.5B However last year's interviewed is higher for this section. It is 3.3A and offered is 3.4A

Monkey2001 · 25/11/2022 10:50

@Lottsbiffandsmudge and @medParent your DC should get Cambridge/UCL/Imperial interviews with those scores.

@MrsBennetsPoorNerves she might be OK, I think BMAT applications are down this year.

Thank you @Monkey2001 :-)
It's really nice to hear that.
Now it is waiting for the interviews and prepare for Leicester interview which is scheduled.
Leicester is online, so no travel required.

Africa2go · 25/11/2022 11:52

Anyone have a rough idea of what might be needed for BMAT for Leeds for top 20%?

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 25/11/2022 12:16

Thank you @Monkey2001 we will just have to wait to see!!

Thanks @Monkey2001. Fingers crossed.

She is just annoyed as she did much better on the practice tests. Nothing she can do about it now though!!

DTJ · 25/11/2022 12:28

DD really disappointed by her BMAT score; 4.6, 3.3, 3.0A. She knew section 2 was bad but hoping for a little more than this. I think this is the end for BSMS and is very borderline for Lancaster.
It doesn't matter how much she says she's prepared for gap year, it still stings. She went off to college in a very fragile state. Do you think rejections will come out soon or do they wait until the end to let you know? I think it would be relief to just find out instead of the waiting!!!

buckleten · 25/11/2022 12:33

DD got 6.5, 6, 4A, hoping very much for an Oxford interview but not heard anything yet..

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 25/11/2022 12:40

@DTJ, so sorry that she didn't get what she was hoping for. It's tough dealing with their disappointment. I hate the system of having to apply blind with BMAT- would be much better if they could do the test earlier and get their results before applying. She mustn't give up hope though - we met lots of students at interview who said that taking a gap year turned out to be a massive positive in the end.

HoneyMobster · 25/11/2022 12:43

@buckleten - DD got an Oxford interview last year (and place!) with 6.6 5.2 3.5A so I'd say the chances are good.

wijjjy · 25/11/2022 12:54

Daughter has bmat for Leeds and UCL

5.4, 5.5, 3A (11 GCSE @9 and AAA)

My thoughts are that she is a toss up for an interview at UCL but should get one at Leeds. Does this seem reasonable?
