Yes - that's what I said @goodbyestranger. But there's no doubt that many are real, backed up by general comments on the thread.

Happy birthday to your ds @raspberryrippleicecream Cake What will you do to celebrate? So difficult with the current restrictions Sad

bendmeoverbackwards · 24/11/2020 10:02

DD’s friend has also got a Cambridge interview (History).

Dd seems to think she will hear from Oxford around 1st December. Seems like ages away!

Baaaahhhhh · 24/11/2020 10:08

Gosh, so many interviews - well done everyone, and good luck to all DC's.

Let's get another thread up and open, we are really on a roll now!

Yes I realise that Summer15 - but it was the sheer volume of dubious looking posts which surprised me (or possibly not!).

In other words you said some; I said a lot.

Reading all these and getting really nervous now for dd! Congrats to all that have had interviews fab news. My dds friend had applied for natural science with cambridge and had a rejection on monday, he also sat the admissions test and like my dd, said it did not go well. But on the bright side he has had an offer from Durham. Has anybody heard about english yet?

quiltdig · 24/11/2020 11:53

@par05 it is all so nerve wracking. DD too did the admission test for natural science and thought it went horribly. She is still waiting and at this point just wants to know either way. She is also still waiting for Durham.

Majaso12 · 24/11/2020 18:56

My dd got email at 5.20 pm for an interview at Oxford for biochemistry at the college she applied to. Can’t quite believe it. Been so nervous today and after her friend got an offer for law earlier in the day. She goes to an under performing state school. Unfortunately the interview will be the same week as her mocks.

NiamCinnOir · 24/11/2020 19:32

Congratulations to your dd @Majaso12! Great news. Does the interview clash with a mock exam?

Majaso12 · 24/11/2020 19:40

She hasn’t been told the date yet, but interviews start on the 7th and her mocks are the 7th, 8th and 9th. Really hoping it’s after the 9th. Her school have said it would be better to do the interview at home as the internet will be better! Will be stressful if it’s the same day as a mock and she has to rush home after it or rush into school after the interview for her mock. Think the school said to prioritise the interview, so whether she’d be able to do her mock on a different day I don’t know.

SATSmadness · 24/11/2020 19:46

Looks like Oxford are really rolling out the interviews now. Congrats to your DD Majaso12.

NiamCinnOir · 24/11/2020 20:54

If her interview clashes with a mock, @Majaso12, I’m sure school will make an arrangement for her to sit the mock at a different time. Dd has pre-mocks the week starting 7th Dec too, but hasn’t been invited to an interview yet. I thought Oxford wanted candidates to have their interviews in school, but dd also reckons internet in her sixth form centre is really variable and she can’t go to another part of the school because of the bubbles.

Majaso12 · 24/11/2020 21:04

Yes it does say in her email that where possible interviews should take place in school. School have said it would be better at home, but I’m sure she can insist on doing it in school, not sure what to do for the best.

Knotanothername · 24/11/2020 23:54

@majaso12 Dds school have told students they need to do interviews at home as they believe it’s far less stressful, they aren’t following Oxfords suggestion to do it in school !
They have told us access to printers would be useful as some subjects will send over reading material and it’s useful to print off and highlight/annotate rather than read on a laptop.

Majaso12 · 26/11/2020 12:03

It looks like my dd will definitely be doing hers at home. They didn’t say anything about printers, but my dd won’t get any reading material for her course. Still haven’t got an interview date, she had an email from her Oxford college today saying she’ll hear soon.

Revengeofthepangolins · 26/11/2020 12:38

@Majaso12 Get thee to the new thread!

Ellmau · 26/11/2020 20:18

That table is fascinating. So low for maths and CS.
