Not to derail the thread with choral scholars, but DS2 is state school with non-musical parents. He ended up as a Chorister at our local Cathedral (no private school attached, just local schools) because of their recruitment policy and through being at state schools that encouraged music he plays a variety of instruments. He also plays organ but not at organ scholar standard!

DS is celebrating a lockdown 18th birthday this week!
