@Newgirls we see still waiting for Edinburgh and St Andrews and Durham for that matter .

wineoclockthanks · 15/01/2020 21:03

Has anyone heard from Loughborough? It's the last one DS is waiting to hear from.

mimbleandlittlemy · 15/01/2020 21:21

Friend of mine who is Scottish but lives down here and has dd (who counts as English) applying to Edinburgh says they will be waiting for last final applications today then working out the number of English applicants they can take. Don’t know if that’s true but I don’t know a single English applicant who has heard from Edinburgh yet.

Alittewornout · 15/01/2020 21:29

Dd ( Scottish ) has an unconditional for Edinburgh for maths. Received it at the end of October. We were really surprised as thought it would be March before she heard. Still waiting on St Andrews but know that will be ages yet.

Anyone applying for Saint Martins college?? Daughter has applied, having interview at Chelsea & Plymouth. St Martin's is 1st choice

NecklessMumster · 15/01/2020 21:33

We're still waiting on Loughborough. DS wants engineering. Had offers from Lancaster, Liverpool and DeMontfort, he really wants to go to DeMontfort which I wasn't so keen on but it's his choice

wineoclockthanks · 15/01/2020 21:46

Thanks @NecklessMunster, guess we just need to be patient Grin

wineoclockthanks · 15/01/2020 21:46

MUMster, sorry!

MillicentMartha · 15/01/2020 21:52

@FabTab, I’ve PMed you.

DS got an offer from Loughborough for engineering today, Neckless.

NecklessMumster · 15/01/2020 22:14

Thanks....I'll get him to check, but he seems set on DeMontfort

MillicentMartha · 15/01/2020 23:15

I was tempted by some crockery in the sale at Sainsbury’s today for DS to put in his self-catering ‘bottom drawer.’ Do you think that’s tempting fate like buying the pram too early? Blush

Like this? Wink Can’t remember whose tip it was but it’s a good one! Another tip I heard was get a cheap boxed 4 place settings, send them with x2 in first year and expect losses, which you can then top up in 2nd and 3rd year.

12 pieces for £12.50 currently.

DS and I were talking about buying bits and pieces for uni last night. All of his offers are now in and I'm inordinately excited for him at the same time feeling a little pang of loss as he contemplates the next stage of his life. When we 're doing his room o couple of years ago he told me he quite enjoyed an IKEA trip Grin...I'm holding him to that!

Hoghgyni · 16/01/2020 07:41

DD's top Christmas present was a mini screwdriver set disguised as a big pencil. Wait until all those freshers need a Philips Cross Head to put batteries in their fairy lights - DD will be their friend of choice.

I have started a "bottom drawer" (actually an under-bed storage box) for DS but it doesn't have much in it yet.

So far it's mostly marketing freebies he has accumulated: mugs, teatowel etc. There's also an over-door hook and some brightly coloured cutlery.

SoundofSilence · 16/01/2020 09:58

My mother has told me that she's bought DS a mini table top oven for when he goes. I suspect he's going to be absolutely buried in stuff when he leaves, however much I restrain myself. He's an ace cake and cookie baker and I've been wondering whether to put together a set of tins, bowl and a whisk (the better to make friends in halls), or whether it's completely pointless because cooking will become a dim and distant memory once he has the opportunity for student life.

FabTab · 16/01/2020 10:36

DS has an offer! He’s already done his A levels and is doing FM to keep his Maths up. Unfortunately his offer is conditional on an A* in FM.
Have dug out my old uni plates. I must have been quite pretentious as they are a mix of Denby and habitat.

MillicentMartha · 16/01/2020 10:43

That's a tough offer, FabTab. He could do it, though. Especially if he can concentrate just on his FM for a few months before the exams. Does he have a tutor or is he self taught?
