DS2 thought I was being a nag and told me a goal is a goal isn't it.

jaguar67 · 10/01/2020 18:12

That's great to hear goodbyestranger - quite right they look at performance across aptitude tests & interview. Perhaps Cambridge will move to a similar approach now that their admissions assessments are bedding in (not sure when the first cohort took them & therefore able to track against final degree performance).

Love your DS2's response!

ErrolTheDragon · 10/01/2020 18:32

not sure when the first cohort took them

My DD was in the first lot to do the Cambridge aptitude test in 2017 - she's 3rd year now but it's a 4 year course.

History at LSE is excellent, but with slant towards either politics for British history or international relations for Int history. Lots of v good talks, visiting academics etc and think tank types

Fab news Coleopatra for DT2. Really pleased for him (and you). My DH went to LSE many moons ago.

NotEnoughTime · 10/01/2020 20:13

Fantastic news Coleoptera

PS Your DT1 sounds lovely Smile

PantTwizzler · 10/01/2020 20:20

Lovely news Coleoptera.

DS got a Durham offer today. He prefers Imperial but it’s nice that he’s now got offers from all 4 apart from CB. He’s much more interested in tinkering with the banger than anything else...

Great to hear of the Durham offers.

Yes, DT1 sounds a star.

aibutohavethisusername · 10/01/2020 21:05

Well done to T2 for the four offers. Is he the History twin?
DD has offers from Exeter and York for History but hasn’t visited them yet. She has offer holder open days in February & March.

PortusCale · 10/01/2020 21:05

Good news on all these offers coming in.
DS also got a Durham offer - so a big sigh of relief here!

Monkey2001 · 10/01/2020 21:18

@HugoSpritz I think that it is unlikely that the Cambridge results will be on Track on 15th. What happened last year was that the e-mails went out on results day, Track took a few days longer, letters vary by college.

Oxford updated Track on results day last year.

Thank you!

Yes, it’s taken the pressure off ahead of next week and DS is very happy.

Hope others hear soon too.

sandybayley · 11/01/2020 07:58

@Coleoptera and @PortusCale congratulations on the Durham offers. Lovely to have it secured before Tuesday. DS1 is very pleased with the prospect of going there and I can 'see' it in my head.

Hoghgyni · 11/01/2020 08:38

Balliol have stated on TSR that Track will update at approximately the same time as post & emails arrive. They also said that Track will update in no logical way, so the timing will not reflect outcomes.

NotEnoughTime · 11/01/2020 09:25

Great news PortusCale, takes a lot of pressure off.

I can 'see' my DS at Durham too sandybayley if only he would get an offer

Torchlightt · 11/01/2020 09:54

Just how big IS Durham university? They seem to make a lot of offers?

ErrolTheDragon · 11/01/2020 10:16

Looks like they take ~4.5k undergrads per year.

Yes, there will be a lot of Durham offers to people on this thread. Its one of the unis popular among students also applying to oxbridge, for quite a lot of subjects. Good unis have to over offer too - they're likely to be second (or lower) choice for quite a lot of applicants.
