Kingscote you're not alone. DD has spent the past few days at Oxford. She was the only one who had received offers for her subject from either Durham or Warwick.

sandwiches77 · 11/12/2019 17:41

Thanks, hadn't thought about clearing. I'm actually not fussed it DD doesn't go, but she has always been adamant that she is going next year. That said, she revealed to us today that it's not the end of the world of she doesn't go next year and is no longer putting that kind of pressure on herself

Newgirls · 11/12/2019 18:13

Maybe once she has her grades she will be all motivated - I wish the system was different in a way and they all took a year after a levels to earn some money, travel, think.

One offer for dd and nearest to home so I’m pleased

ThisIsSanta · 11/12/2019 20:07

DD is off to Leeds for an interview tomorrow. The train seemed to be busy with other teens with a parent. She is looking forward to it and keen to have a second look because she wasn’t bowled over at the open day, but the course has options she is very keen on.

MillicentMartha · 11/12/2019 20:49

DS reckoned about half the students came without a parent to Manchester on his Thursday interview. You probably get less parents on a weekday. It’s different to my day (old gimmer) when parents never went along. I quite like being able to have a poke around myself and DS is happy for me to come, but equally happy to go by himself if need be.

I am not wanted on voyage for ds's Manchester interview day and I got the impression last night he is intending to go to the Newcastle and Birmingham offer holders' days on his own too. Manchester is one that I didn't see round as he went on his own to the open day so I might have quite liked a look but it's up to him.

LIZS · 12/12/2019 13:13

Edinburgh offer now in. Two applicant days already booked for Jan/Feb, one including a pre offer interview.

Justyou · 12/12/2019 13:51

My dd got the final one she was waiting for - York last night so was over the moon, offered grades much lower than required for the course too so fingers crossed.,

Lightuptheroom · 12/12/2019 14:21

Just you - which course?

Justyou · 12/12/2019 18:25

Archeology

Lightuptheroom · 13/12/2019 19:14

Offer from York for Curatorship and Art History ABB with a C at EPQ, still waiting for normal history

MarchingFrogs · 13/12/2019 20:49

@Lightuptheroom, DS2 will probably look at that course at York (2021 entry), as well as 'straight' Art History. It will take a lot to win him away from UEA, though.

Snozzlemaid · 14/12/2019 10:57

Dd now has offers for all 5 applications. Last one in was from Bath AAB (Standard is AAA)

oneteen · 14/12/2019 11:57

That's good news Snozzle....DD still waiting for Warwick...she has Bham, UEA, and York offers (AAB/ABB) ...not yet decided which Uni she will add for her 5th option.

DD's been offered the opportunity of a paid job during the summer holidays working for a Pharma company that brings new drugs to the market which will be valuable experience and a good insight before she starts Uni.

Snozzlemaid · 14/12/2019 12:32

That sounds like a fab opportunity for your dd. Well done to her.

goodbyestranger · 14/12/2019 12:41

Kingscote Durham is mixing it up: DD4 got her offer on a Monday evening so the Friday thing seems to have been cast to the wind, this year at least.

suze28 · 14/12/2019 12:59

@oneteen That will be an amazing experience for your daughter. I used to work in clinical research (Pharmacology graduate) and there are lots of opportunities available.

MillicentMartha · 15/12/2019 12:45

oneteen and potential for summer jobs in the future? DS1 worked for the same start up software company for 3 summers starting after sixth form and it was fantastic CV material as well as paying for his social life!

Hoghgyni · 15/12/2019 19:03

Kingscote it was a Monday here as well for Durham.

KingscoteStaff · 15/12/2019 20:39

Fingers crossed for tomorrow, then!

DS is having a massive refining of all notes from this term, which seems to involve opening every single folder, balancing pages and dividers all over the kitchen in carefully thought out places that MUST NOT BE MOVED and then wandering off to watch Sports Personality of the Year.

MillicentMartha · 16/12/2019 17:28

Nothing much happening here. DS is doing a very gentle bit of revision. Mocks start on 6th Jan. It’s a shame he can’t properly relax over Christmas.

OP posts:
Newgirls · 16/12/2019 17:30

OK 3 offers in here - does it go quiet now until the new term starts?

MillicentMartha · 16/12/2019 18:07

I don’t know, Newgirls, it depends on what holidays the admission people take. They don’t just work term time, but I imagine they might not be in between Christmas and New Year.

aibutohavethisusername · 16/12/2019 18:55

DD got an offer from her second choice today. UCL, AAA or ABB if she completes an online course. That’s for straight History. That is 4 offers. Just waiting on O now.

Justyou · 16/12/2019 20:46

What does the offer mean if it’s lower than standard?
