Oh no Rufus!

Can I ask which box you got please?

OddBoots · 16/09/2017 18:36

I am sure drop off will be easier than you think Mighty, hopefully there will be plenty of places to stop on a Sunday. Our drop off went okay, the room and flat weren't as nice as the ones shown on the open day but it will do, ds isn't used to luxury anyway. :)

ErrolTheDragon · 16/09/2017 18:57

I do hope that's a rhetorical question, rufus, and you know where it is (presumably still at home?) and not one of the 'can anyone guess where my toddler has put my carkeys' type of thing that crops up on MN periodically.Shock

Sparklingbrook · 16/09/2017 19:25

No, I didn't go Horse. As it's only 30 miles away, I was happy to say goodbye at home. DH dropped him off but didn't hang about too long.

Feels a bit strange here now.

OddBoots · 16/09/2017 19:33

The key is at home Rufus? Has he got a bank card or similar to tide him over until some kind of delivery can be arranged?

user327854831 · 16/09/2017 19:44

Best way Sparkling the M5 was not a good place to be today. Did your DH have problems?

Horsemad · 16/09/2017 19:48

Sad It will feel strange for a little while Sparkling but you will get used to it.

I feel quite melancholy tonight, today was DS2's last footy match here for a while and I was quite choked up when his teammates were hugging him and shaking hands (he plays in a men's team, so only him going to uni as they are all 25+). He loves that team and they think a lot of him so it was touching to see the 'Goodbyes' Sad

bigTillyMint · 16/09/2017 19:49

Oh no RufusShock

Sparklingbrook · 16/09/2017 19:52

No user he didn't say so. I know there was a huge accident further past Junction 9 where he got off.

Thanks Horse. I am sitting here having a little worry, and just hoping he's out at the welcome barbecue.

Sad at the footy, DS1's team won the league earlier in the year at their last match together and there wasn't a dry eye anywhere.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 16/09/2017 20:05

horse

Just a basic one

It's real now - leaving home to go to uni (part 3)
Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 16/09/2017 20:07

I will be honest....i dont have a clue where his key is

I do know where the spare key is as i have it

Its got all his money in it Grin

He asked his dad to transfer £100 into his account the other day, we havent got round to it yet so dh gave him it in cash when we left

Honestly...he is so dippy Grin

Horsemad · 16/09/2017 20:10

That's a good idea to get one of those Rufus, he'll be loaded when he gets it open! Grin

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 16/09/2017 20:52

Just hoping its not full of tenners horse Grin

By the time he gets it open it will probably be next spring

Abra1d · 16/09/2017 20:53

Back home after drop off. House very quiet. Daughter a bit uncertain when we left but social media reveals she went for a walk around the very large campus with a friend. Strange not to have all the trainers in the doorway when we came in. They have both taken them all back with them.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 16/09/2017 20:55

Ds1 only remembered shoes when he was getting in the car at 8.30 this morning

Crispsheets · 16/09/2017 20:58

Ds is going with ex tomorrow.
I've just gone in his very messy bedroom and cried. Stupid.
He is so excited about going .

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 16/09/2017 21:02

crisps

Thanks

We are watching Guardians of the Galaxy 2

Which is a shame as both dh and i bawled our eyes out at the end of the film when we saw it...in the cinema

And i dont usually cry

Its going to be 'niagra falls' tonight

BestIsWest · 16/09/2017 21:15

I had to shut DS bedroom door. I couldn't get used to walking past it and seeing the blinds open and the floor clear of clothes.
When DD went a few years back, I couldn't go into her room for about 3 weeks.

Abra1d · 16/09/2017 21:22

It's weird, that's for sure.

Sparklingbrook · 16/09/2017 21:27

I have been into DS's room and had a bit of a tidy. Although he took loads of stuff his bedroom is still full of stuff. Even the wardobe.

DS2 is being a bit quiet but has asked if he can have DS1's TV (it's bigger than his) I said he could, but if DS1 wants it at a later date he has to give it back. DS1 has said no TV or PS4 for the first term.

Horsemad · 16/09/2017 21:50

Haha, I love that your DS2 has bagsied his big brother's TV! Grin

hugoagogo · 16/09/2017 21:55

dd is after his whole room.
Was madness at halls, but we managed everything ok.
Stressful for us but ds seemed ok, which is the main thing.

Horsemad · 16/09/2017 21:57

Are you letting her have it hugo? My friend's DD can't wait for her brother to go, as she's having his room Grin

Oldie2017 · 16/09/2017 22:01

Ah, so my son putting all his £1 and £2 coins and change - about £50 worth - in a very very heavy but totally see through plastic pencil case is may be not as risky as the strong box as at least he can't lose a key. I did think it is a very visible way to hold cash - not a great idea. People do steal things.
One found his old £5 yesterday which I will have to get changed at the bank or the bank of England as it's not legal tender. I did change it for him for real money.

hugoagogo · 16/09/2017 22:07

Absolutely, she has been in the box room since she was a baby.
Ds knows about it, not keen, but resigned.
No point leaving the best biggest bedroom empty half the year.
