Anyone's offspring set for Warwick?

pericat · 31/08/2017 18:46

Yes - ds is off to Warwick. I am getting impatient to know which accommodation he has been allocated.

Ilove · 31/08/2017 18:51

DS just told me it will be Sept 10th they will find out!

Horsemad · 31/08/2017 19:43

Sept 10th?!! Confused Blimey, I'd be looking at private halls to get sorted sooner.

BestIsWest · 31/08/2017 20:12

Mytime, was your DC already with Santander?

pericat · 31/08/2017 20:41

Ilove - wow, no decision until 10th Sept! Was Warwick your Ds's first choice too? I was hoping we would hear about accommodation by tomorrow!

Ilove · 31/08/2017 21:20

Yes, his first choice!!

LittleHo · 31/08/2017 21:29

Warwick too.

When do they hear about accommodation?

LittleHo · 31/08/2017 21:31

Oh sorry - just saw it is the 10th September.

They don't go until the very end of the month.

PennyForum · 31/08/2017 21:52

Also waiting for Warwick accommodation. Website says they will reply by sept 15 and not to contact them til after then if you've not heard. Also when they do make an offer you have to accept it within 2 working days so make sure your Dc are checking junk files too just in case.
Move in weekend is sept 30/oct 1.
A long old process since dc's ucas form went off at the beginning of last October!

fredafortycoats · 31/08/2017 22:28

Anybody's child starting at Belfast university ❓❓❓❓🦄🦄

fredafortycoats · 31/08/2017 22:32

The communication from accepting a place seems to be lacking.not heard anything🙀🙀I am buying necessities and have booked the ferry to get him there but no news from the university.

Mytimenow · 01/09/2017 00:25

Bestiswest, no DS never been with Santander before, although I recently changed to bank there. Whole process was really efficient!

Ilove · 01/09/2017 05:35

DS is currently swanning around Italy on an inter rail holiday, completely nonchalant about the whole process.

There again given I had to go to the airport at 4am with his forgotten bloody inter rail tickets two nights ago, I'm not quite so confident!!!

BestIsWest · 01/09/2017 08:29

That's good to know Mytime

ByTheSea · 01/09/2017 09:04

We will drive up to st Andrews next Friday and Saturday so DD can be there in time for Freshers events. I took this week off so we have shopped for just about anything she will need in her non-catered accommodation. Phew! We had a lovely spa day too. It is hitting me how much of an adjustment it will be for us without her.

indulgentberries · 01/09/2017 09:36

Book ends! I've just looked at the pictures of the accommodation and there is a long desk but no shelves. Amazon have acrylic transparent ones for just under £4 so I've ordered some of those.

Is anybody packing an iron and ironing board? I'm not sure if they have them in the laundry rooms.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/09/2017 11:33

Is anybody packing an iron and ironing board?

Good lord, no. DD reckons her college had one, and that should suffice for 400 students. I don't think she's too far wrong. Back in the dark ages, my uni hall had a few, I don't think many bothered - I certainly didn't.

stonecircle · 01/09/2017 11:36

Indulgent - DS's uni has a list of what's provided on the accommodation bit of its website. Says an ironing board is provided but not an iron. Suggests people wait until they get there and club together to buy things like an iron and kettle rather than end up with half a dozen of each.

hoyhoy44 · 01/09/2017 12:27

a few of dd friends who are already at uni have been suggesting she joins the UOTC, does anyone have any experience of this ? it seems a good fit for dd but she has never been in cadets or anything

Horsemad · 01/09/2017 12:50

hoy my DS was in the University Air Sqn and really enjoyed it.

They get some fantastic opportunities doing stuff like that.

Fortysix · 01/09/2017 12:52

Recommend Jamie Oliver's new book 5 Ingredients from new C4 tv series. Bit heavy to carry so maybe get it delivered first week as a surprise? Made the chocolate rye cookies with DC2 last night and they were amazing. Book arrived this am from Amazon (£10) and there are at least 10 meals that mine can do. Just maybe not the washing up...

BestIsWest · 01/09/2017 13:54

Bank account sorted finally. We're off tomorrow for a weeks holiday. DD who lives and works away is joining us as well as DS. Might be the last holiday with the four of us (plus dogs) so I am going to cherish it.

eatyourveg · 01/09/2017 15:45

We're off tomorrow on holiday too dropping ds just before coming back as he is moving into halls a couple of days early due to his asd - His stuff amounts to 6 medium or large holdalls and a suitcase. Dreading fitting it all in the car later - I fear there will be no room for anyone elses bags and the rest of us are going to have to wear the same set clothes all week Blush
