franca70 · 23/05/2006 17:29

I studied in Italy so no debts there. Studied history (specializing in economic history) and got a job in PR in Milan. Met my husband in London, he was doing a Phd in philosophy. (he is a lecturer now). When I moved to the UK I did an MA in television studies that lead to nothing as I got pregnant soon after that. I'm a sahm doing translations (not very often...). I'd like to retrain as a midwife or a librarian.

Britney · 23/05/2006 17:41

Studied Town Planning at Oxford Brookes where I meet dh studying electronic engineering. He now works in pre-sales for an IT company, whilst I'm studying again to become an Certified Internet Webmaster! Did work as a planner for a few years - would definitely not go back to it.

Me - Law and then had a moment of madness and became a librarian (nowadays the euphemistic "information professional"
DH - Physics and then became a mechanical engineer.
We are choc full of degrees and post graduate qualifications and professional qualifications.
We've advised our DSs to do something that brings in rather more dosh.

scienceteacher · 28/05/2006 18:00

I did Chemical Engineering at Uni. I worked as an environmental consultant for a couple of years, then did product development for a consumer goods manufacturer. Now I am a science teacher, mostly chemistry (and have had 9 years as a SAHM).

I'd say that everything I have done has been pretty related to my degree.

Gem13 · 28/05/2006 18:11

Me - psychology - worked in psychological research

DH - management and computing - works in management and IT.

We both studied as mature students so we had definite careers in mind.

If I'd gone at 18 I was going to do American Studies at a particular university that meant a year at university in Athens, Georgia (B52s and REM). So much thought given to my career!

rarrie · 04/06/2006 21:44
