NomDePlume · 23/05/2006 13:26

God, this thread is utterly fascinating.

hulababy · 23/05/2006 13:26

CD you mean DH loving his work as a solicitor? I get that impression on MN a fair bit that many people on here haven't liked it. But DH does truely love his job. He is now a partner. He specialises in an area of law he is really interested in and he is prettay ambitious and it is paying off for him now. He wanted to be a solicitor right from I when I met him, age 16. He must have chosen well I guess!

motherinferior · 23/05/2006 13:27

I did a BA in English, then an MA in English, then I did various slightly half-arsed lefty things, and now I'm a journalist.

DP did a degree in geography and then MAs in various things the details of which I cannot exactly remember and now he doshes out huge amounts of money to environmental organisations.

My English degree doesn't seem to have done me that badly, frankly, and I very much enjoyed doing it and the fact that I am not absolutely rolling in money now is more the result of the career choices I have subsequently made than the subject itself. (And I like what I do now.)
