Just been for a run! My friend is getting better so quickly! It's great. And I run ahead more so I get a bit more exercise.
I'm probably not going to have lost weight in the morning. I do my midweek sneaky weigh, which is always good, then I think I maybe get cocky Ah well. Fingers crossed for 1lb which'd be better than nothing!
My mum didn't work til we went to school (or possibly she didn't properly til we were about 7/8) so she did all the housewife stuff. But she worked when we were older. I guess some of it went in and I figured the rest out as I went along! I don't work though and it is time consuming to meal plan, list, go to more that one place to get the better deals/products.
I said to a friend recently about the cake baking thing Lemur. Like you say it's just practice. I was going to a friend's house one morning and it was easier for me to make biscuits to take rather than get everyone up and ready and to the shop before we went but my friend was terribly impressed by homemade biscuits, being something that they just don't do!
I have to say I don't set a strict budget but I think I shop well now. I never let stuff go to waste. The statistic that we throw away 1/3 of all the food we buy makes me I reckon my figure would be 5% which means a lot of people must really bin loads. I did have a bit of a thing for months though where I'd buy broccoli every week and bin it when it was yellow.
I try and use the market for my f&v which means going into town, £1 for the car park blah blah, and just the fact that it's a whole nother job! And I intend to give farm foods a try cause apparently thier milk/bread/cheese are really cheap. I'm afraid organics and ethics are not too high on my list atm
Gosh this is getting long!! Sorry.
Just a thought Franny, there was a thread about how much people actually spend the other day. Families of 4 were saying they spend £100, £120 per week. I think my average (including cleaning/household stuff, and packed lunch for an extra adult) is about £70. It just is expensive to feed a family at the minute. (Hope you're not in the £150 p/w category and I've just given you a heart attack!)
