Afternoon.

Well, day one done on FoodFocus and I've lost a whole 0.17lbs.

looking at my calorie intake, and huge lack of exercise, I need to reduce my cals by HALF to get to where I want to be.

Bloody hell. I'm actually shocked at how high my cals are!!

Complete food overhall required.

Not feeling v positive and need to REALLY start looking at what's in stuff.

Most food we eat is homemade, no jars of sauces, packets, no added salt, sugar.......

Had wafer thin ham on wholemeal bread, with a smidgen of light salad cream.

Then ate a pack of crisps!!! Bugger. Habit. I need to change my habits don't I?

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/05/2010 13:40

FFS when is all this shit going to stop happening to good people? A friend lost her baby today at c.18wks. So utterly, utterly gutted for her

Glad you placed a candidate Lizzy, does that mean a little shopping trip is in order?

SAF, did you like the nursery and get DS enrolled? Hope he likes it

Welcome back DEM. Paperwork - keep 4 yrs bank statements and a years worth of other bills. Keep confirmation of Council tax/MOT/insurances/TV licence for the current year and any number of years paperwork if anything is in dispute

Glad it went ok Wasting. at the 'it must have dropped out' and Mitt's horror experience. I got DH snipped as i have been fiddled with enough by the medical profession to last me a lifetime

I need to go for a smear but i am on annual ones (have been since 2001 ) and they just seem to come round so soon

Its not general life paperwork that is the issue. I have 7 years worth plus major recipts and warantees filed, plus all ever financial/housing agreements.

Nope they wont come fix it as it is an internal wire that was installed personally and nothing to do with the internet company.

MOuseface- easiest and cheapest way to increase your exercise (and i love the fact that food focus counts house work as exercise) is to go for a short walk everyday. And to stop drinking bottled water - there is a lot of salt in it and it can increase blood pressure significantly and affect digestion.

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/05/2010 13:46

Mouseface, well done on entering the world of LordFord. He is very strict on calories but will get your weight off if you can keep up with him . DOn't worry about the crisps, just log them with your food today and maybe have a spoonful or so less dinner tonight. It is all just a balancing act

With homemade stuff, enter your favourite recipes as meals and then each time you eat it again you just have to go in and put what portion you had and it will be added to your daily calories

x-posts SAF, glad you and DS liked the nursery . My DD never had me with her to settle at the CM or preschool and has been fine. COuld you say to the staff that you would like to give it a go just leaving him but that they are to call you on the mobile if he does get very upset and you will come in?

Mouseface · 05/05/2010 13:58

Thanks Crispy, I'll do that with the homemade recipes.

Sorry about your friend.

Truly heartbreaking. Been there too.

DEM, I can't walk, severe SPD. I used to go to the gym and power walk 3 times a week so this is killing me. I drink filtered water, never bottled, bloomin rip off!!

Sorry to hear you have been in that situation Mouse . I just cannot imagine what she is going through at the hospital today. I just hope she is being treated with kindness and compassion

SAF - running sounds good, especially through a nature park. Could you try saying that DS is very excited be at big boy nursery without mummy and you don;t want to curb that enthusiasm for independence by staying and getting in his way?

Lizzylou · 05/05/2010 14:20

Crispy, that is so sad for your poor friend.

Remember my bin lorry crashing into car debacle?

OK, now have got a bloody letter from Bin Men's insurance company saying we owe them money, not for any damage but because they've used their insurers, even though I told our insurance company the same day we wouldn't be claiming.

Fuming, bet it will be £50/100 or whatever, but I will NOT be paying anything.

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/05/2010 14:23

Lizzy, i am with you on the fuming with insurance company soapbox. I would definitely not be paying, if they were THAT certain it was your fault then proper protocol is to go through your insurance company. If they decided to just use their own then tough titties

Lizzylou · 05/05/2010 14:27

Yep, I will not be paying and I am now going to complain about the bin driver as well, him saying couldn't go and pick up DS2 etc, even the policewoman said that that was wrong.

Oh, and fave candidate (he has been out of his field for a while after recovering from cancer, keeps getting pipped to post on jobs) has an interview not a placement just yet, but the interviewer knows him so should be OK. Will not hit my pocket for a while though!

DidEinsteinsMum · 05/05/2010 14:29

ouch. that is not good. What about putting your food on a smaller plate and taking small mouth/fork/spoonfulls with increasing chewing to help reduce portion size and trick you brain into feeling fuller?

bellavita · 05/05/2010 14:54

Have just skimmed through...

Well done Lizzy on your candidate, must be a nice feeling for you that you have made someone happy . Not so good on the bin men though - bloody cheek.

Sazz, how sad for your friend

Oh Crispy, that is so sad...your poor friend and family.

TotalChaos · 05/05/2010 15:31

Have screwed up at work . I needed a desk to sit at for tomorrow, and next week and was told by colleague B, that colleague A would be returning from long-term sick on Friday (i.e. her desk would only be available for one day). Colleague B failed to tell me that our manager did not know about this. So when manager tells me I can have colleague A's desk, I innocently say - but she's back Friday. Really says manager?, I didn't know? Who told you that? erm, erm colleaguage B. When I get off phone, colleague C mouths at me frantically to tell me how much I've dropped A,B and C in it. Sigh. I apologised to A and C, but what else could I do? And now I've got to sit with them tomorrow and next week, can't wait. To make things even better, I have been given colleague A's nice desk - as it has a phone point, and the only other desk in the room doesn't. Oh and I broke the door on colleague A's fridge a few weeks back.....

Might as well leave the country now.....

PS - our manager is hard work, and gets v. wound up if she feels she is not being kept in the loop....

MitsubishiWarrioress · 05/05/2010 15:37

Not sure what you have to apologise for TC...they put you in a tight spot... they should apologise..

TotalChaos · 05/05/2010 15:42

Tis the wonderful world of office politics Mitts, so fairness doesn't come into it. Only thing I did wrong was not to think quickly enough and say - oooooh I have no idea who said A was coming back this week, must have been the postman/butler/bricklayer.

anyhoo, now reading back I do feel a little shamefaced, given what crispy's friend and mouseface have been through.

Hello all,

Sazz, your poor friend. Unfortunately I know too well what she's going through.

Lizzy, that's rubbish about the bin men.

Mouse, have faith in the lord food, at least you know which things you need to change.

Dem, glad you are back, and with extra sparkle

Saf, glad DS liked the nursery, that's really positive.

For the love of god, please don't get a border collie. They. Are. Mental.

(Note I'm not telling you you shouldn't get a dog )

I caught DD with my nail earlier, and now she has a big scratch on her face

Had a nice coffee with Toccata.

I am trying a new recipe tonight, it's polenta with butternut squash and tomato sauce with capers, all baked in the oven.

I will let you know if it's any good.

Gosh, isn't it quiet after Vinny got rumbled at work

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 05/05/2010 15:51

Shit, sorry Lizzy, No pun intended

CrispyTheCrisp · 05/05/2010 15:58

TC, it is NOT your fault that the manager didn't know, nor your fault for saying something which is (presumably) factually correct. Make them all a cuppa and hopefully they will get over themselves asap

SAF, politics. Hmmmmmmm......... I think negotiating with my 3.5 year old puts me in good stead for most careers

Bitter, the recipe sounds lovely and i a have never cooked polenta despite having it in the cupboard. Can you post on the recipe thread if it is good? No pressure

Baked ham, new pots and cauli cheese for dinner. To compensate I have only had grapefruit and salad for lunch so am starving. Roll on 7.30

Thanks for all your good wishes. Means a lot

DidEinsteinsMum · 05/05/2010 16:06
