For people who like to eat a lot of fruit and veg but also need to lose weight. We suggest 10 portions of fruit and veg a day, plus at least 10 mins of extra exercise. Weigh in day is Monday. No Atkins stuff or anything like that please , just healthy eating and exercising.

so of course I have interpreted this as being able to eat more than my points today which is good news as its bloody cold and I want comfort stuff

CoupleofKooks · 03/05/2010 15:16

oh i do fluctuate as the week goes on, it's good to know that can be helpful!

guad be careful about those crunches, i read recently a book about pelvic floor and exercise (i was a bit worried when i started running, but has been ok so far), and it said a lot of these core exercises are suited to men's bodies and not mature women's at all
crunches and so on can weaken your pelvic floor apparently

i have no intention whatsoever to go to the gymnast dog agility bouncy castle cake stall thing
but i did want dp to take the boys, which was cheeky of me
he has declined, so they are gardening

avi will know, guad, because she's going to post pictures of her bottom
we could have a vote each week on whether she's lost weight or not
maybe we should all do that in fact, and throw our scales away

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 03/05/2010 15:20

here you go guad here is some of the info from the book, it mentions crunches about half way down
maybe your pelvic floor is made of steel but she suggests most women's are damaged after childbirth whether we like it or not, and that we should be more protective of them esp when exercising

I was still 11st 2 this morning but am hopeful that another pound or two will come off soon.

So I have lost 0 but my total loss is 6lb

Guadalupe · 03/05/2010 16:09

ah, you are getting near a big drop, pointy, that is always exciting. Seeing 11 something or 10 something after eeking your way down through the pounds is always great.

Hmm - that looks a bit annoying, Franny, but thank you for pointing it out. I will check with my gp I think. I tick all the boxes for not doing sit-ups or crunches from childbirth to surgery to approaching menopause!

I don't know about the holding your stomach in being wrong though, surely you naturally pull your stomach in as you do pelvic floor execises anyway? I am bad at doing mine and I really should. It is a common side effect of my op though I seem fine atm.

pointydog · 03/05/2010 16:35

yes, that is what I feel, guada. A plummet is imminent

CoupleofKooks · 03/05/2010 17:36

i can lend you the book if you want, guad - apparently this is not common knowledge, the writer is a total pelvic floor specialist, what she advises goes against the conventional wisdom of fitness training sometimes, and i don't think your gp would have any idea about it tbh
we are normally advised not to pull in any other muscles when doing pelvic floor exercises i think
it's hard to avoid a bit of tightening round your stomach but you shouldn't really be pulling in i don't think (i am hardly an expert on them though )
just try it, you can do it without pulling in your stomach if you try
there are diagrams and all sorts in the book to explain why (i only read half of it because it said if you don't leak when you are running it is ok to run)

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 03/05/2010 17:38

oh yes

i just ran 2 miles
would a row of smileys be out of order at this point

a reflection of your bottom is still a picture of your bottom
it sounds like something out of descartes maybe but i am right

OP posts:
pointydog · 03/05/2010 19:12

banana
2 oatcakes with philly light and a good handful of cherry toms
2 shortbread fingers
teeny bit of spaghetti, lotsa tomato and bacon pasta sauce
garlic bread

about 4+ portions. That's bad.

Tomorrow I'm going back onto more fruit and veg and less garlic bread and curry

Guadalupe · 03/05/2010 20:36

I have stuffed my face today and not much f and v either. I think it is because I read that I should eat more some days so I did. Here goes.

Go ahead bar
apple
raspberries
1 weetabix

very greedy bite of dh's fete sponge

tomato soup
5 rice cakes
2 chocolate fingers

3 rice cakes
coleslaw
ham
chunk of cheese

smoked salmon and asparagus spaghetti in cream ceese sauce with parsley and lemon

and I licked the bowl which had unnecessary amounts of mixture left in from the carrot cake I am making for my brother's birthday. Each half is HUGE. It will be enormous when sandwiched and topped with cream cheese icing and walnuts. If it tastes as good as the mixture then this is my new carrot cake recipe. I can never find one that is as perfect as I think carrot cake should be. Mind you I did substitutue half castor sugar for muscovado and a tird of the carrot for sultanas as I got bored of grating it so it's not exactly the perfect recipe.

I love carrot cake. It's a good thing it will be leaving my house in tact.

Guadalupe · 03/05/2010 20:39

I have just noticed that I have eaten FOUR meals, plu cake. Oh well.

And Franny - now I probably won't do my sit-ups this evening until I have investigated so all in all I have been given advice to eat more and not do my exercises. This will do wonders for my diet.

It's a relief not to be hungry actually. I quite like this alternating business.

CoupleofKooks · 03/05/2010 20:45

Well done Franzo [awards sticker]

(I noticed the picture of your arse too Avi. Fabulous photo.)

I'll have to have your carrot cake recipe Guad. I've never made one.

I appear to be a size 10. I tried on several pairs of jeans and shorts today and the 10s fit and the 12s were baggy. That means I'm a 10 right? So how come I still have sooooo much more flab to lose

CoupleofKooks · 03/05/2010 20:53

cereal, fruit, raisins, seeds = 4

salad with rocket, spinach, cuc, toms, sun dried toms, basil, chickpeas, avocado, beetroot, new potatoes, toasted seeds, mayonnaise = 3

hot cross bun with butter, satsuma, almonds = 0.5

lentil and butternut curry, rice, carrots, mushrooms = 3

exercise - ran 2 miles. did i mention that at all?

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 03/05/2010 20:54

wahooo a sticker! just one? just one sticker?

pink you are a size 10. a very slightly less toned size 10 with 2 lovely children
that accounts for the flab, sorry (good underwear is your friend)

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 03/05/2010 20:57

Hurrah!!

Well done for running 2 miles, Franny!

I sound like I am taking the piss. I am not. It is impressive. I ran up and down the stairs 15 times which is harder than it sounds and I felt like I was having a seizure after.

Pink here but I doubled the amounts to sandwich them together and I really would change some of the sugar so it is darker and stickier and I like raisins in mine and maybe you don't mind grating all that carrot anyway but I did. I don't now wy I don't just write my own recipe actually.

Guadalupe · 03/05/2010 21:01

you need to tone up, pink, though how I do not know, if you find out tell me

CoupleofKooks · 03/05/2010 21:05

thank you guad
up and down stairs? blimey i couldn't run up and down stairs
pink have you considered running up and down stairs
it could be the answer
