This is our mumblemumbleth thread. We want to eat more healthily and/or lose weight.

In theory.

Mostly we like to chat and admire teh thread mascot - he helps us not to over-eat.

If that doesn't do it for you, you can always go old-school - I know I'm too scared to go into the dark spooky kitchen now

Well done on weight losses!

How much have you lost altogether now Shiney?

I've had some haddock goujons and an Innocent veg pot. I quite like them, but only get one if they're in the reduced section. They've got 3 portions of veg in, so feeling v. virtuous now.
Plus I've had most of the banana I unpeeled for DS.
Oh, I had OJ this morning, that's a full 5 A Day!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/04/2010 18:43

Hello all, I have tried to keep up.

Shiney 800 calories is please be careful

Bella - your boys are very lucky.

SaF Tom is the thrid builder who has siad yes to do the garden etc, the other 2 then pulled out, the garden was meant to be done over the winter and now here we are at the end of April.

Hells, glad your back is on the mend.

Supper tonight is creamy ham, leek and mushroom spaghetti.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 23/04/2010 18:44

Does anybody fancy taking on my DS?

He started the day by stealing and eating his sister's easter eggs.

He has been abusive and rude to me all afternoon.

He kept running off at the garden centre and shoe shop.

He has shouted at me and called me names.

He was sent to bed early without any dinner.

He has told me that he hates me.

He is not yet 5 years old.

On a different topic, anyone know where to get toddlers shoes in a 4E? there was only one pair in the shop. We had to buy them as DD is now walking and has no proper shoes. They were £15 and they are hideous

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/04/2010 18:49

MyCat - what does your DH do?

bitter we have this with DS - he has wide but small feet and we don't get much choice. He's still in winter boots as I have been waiting for his feet to grow and couldn't see the point in paying out for a pair of summer shoes only to have him grow out of them straight away. Am going to take him again on monday - hopefully third time lucky, his feet will have grown and they will have some shoes in his size! We're fortunate enough to have a Start-rite factory shop 5 mins down the road so £14/16 a pair.

bella cross posted and missed the news about your trip. What lucky boys

lotster · 23/04/2010 19:04

Lordy. That took me a longer time to find and read this new thread, by the time I finish my post there'll probably be another new one!

So to business from prevous thread;

Hi DeFluff - thanks for your nice comments on my house move! And interesting to hear the laser actually caused you pigmentation...

FiveGoMad - you say you 'escaped' from West Kent, should I be worried?!!! Or is it just that Dorset is lovlier? (I don't doubt that anyway)

Lizzy - previous thread debacle - that was just some attention-seeking excuse to a.) get on your tits, and b.) show off some knowledge she'd read somewhere. Ignore!

So today I have a hangover after drinking 3 glasses of wine and a beer last night this amount wouldn't usually touch the sides, but since I have been on the health kick and cutting down on booze (for I have found it the single best way to shed a few pounds), seems I am now a cheap date.
Lots of water, fruit etc today, plus two lots of paracetamol and head still banging.
My children also decided today was the day to spend most of it screaming like wraiths from Lords of the Rings. Happy Days.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/04/2010 19:06

Lotster, I am Dorset born and bred and my DH was having alot of problems with his BIL and Sister, my family offered us an escape route. I like it, it is pretty but too expensive for us, still go up to see DH's brother and friends.

lotster · 23/04/2010 19:13

Phew - sorry to hear you had personal problems. Glad it wasn't the area you hated necessarily!

I've stayed in Langton Matravers in Dorset a couple of times. Has one of those pubs where talking stops and everyone turns to look at you when you walk in. We used to walk to the Square and Compass on the cliffs. Has a very amusing pumpkin festival and a 'museum' type room with some strange bits to look at. Do you know it??

MitsubishiWarrioress · 23/04/2010 19:28

Bella.... you now officially rock as a Mum... whoop whoop for the boys

Shiney....sounds good going, I need my ass kicking.

I swear bits of my body just keep migrating as my weight stays stable but it just appears in different places...

bellavita · 23/04/2010 19:34

Mitts

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/04/2010 19:38

Absolutely know the Square and Compass, we live fairly close oalong the coast very near to the rock with the hole in it.

bellavita · 23/04/2010 19:41

I really need to get back to marzipanning these cakes...

Bella can you take me too?

Shiney 800 calories a day is not enough - you are not doing yourself any favours with these silly fads.

Just had a couple of bottles of beer on the loacl bit of green with workmates, they wil probably still be drinking much later ontight but I have retired for a quiet evening in.

Bella......

lotster · 23/04/2010 19:54

FiveGoMad - ooh you lucky thing.

Shiney (hello btw) - Could you give up booze for a month?? I sis it for five weeks at end of Feb and half a stone dropped off me. Quite sursprising!

lotster · 23/04/2010 19:55

I sis it = I did it.

TrillianAstra · 23/04/2010 20:00

Lotster - Shiney is already (mostly) teetotal, or she used to be anyway. And I keep reading your name as lobster.

Shiney your day's food sounds like lunch. Not even dinner.

Speaking of dinner, think I'll go cook some chinessy chicken.

DeFluff · 23/04/2010 20:02

waves at everyone, runs out to save DP from crying baby.

Just back from pub meal, steak, chips, prawn cocktail and alcohol. Oops. Think I'll be buying the Shred dvd.

Total - thank you re other thread

Lotster - yes I think that's what caused it, the hyperpigmentation, can be a side effect, I certainly didn't have it before. It's a shame though and probably quite rare so don't let me put you off. And yes exactly re your remarks on the weirdo on the thread. Bloody bizarre.

Shiney- all the sex will help you loss calories anyway. Not the way I do it obviously, as I don't move, but I have heard you are more err energetic

Bella - you are waaaay 'Trendy Mum'

jetcat · 23/04/2010 20:06

am just signing in quickly, as still wading through a mountain of washing - so apologies for a 'ignore all previous posts and here's my news' kind of post

I am back! I survived 5 days in Blackpool (well, Fleetwood) with the kids - with no injuries The kids had a lovely time, mini was a lot better behaved than i thought she was going to be, and she had a fab time. Junior also got right into the activities, did archery and minijet things in the swimming pool. I feel like a different person

But, the biggest of all news - despite my abject fear of rollercoasters (only ever been on one and hated it) i overcame my fear just once and rode the Pepsi Max I figured i need to start conquering my fears instead of pandering to them, and it was a start. But OMG - never ever again - it was awful. Everyone was taking the mick as i wouldnt hold my hands up on the way round, and didnt even open my eyes, apart from a quick look to admire the view on the highest climb. But i did it

The next task - to cancel the car insurance as i arranged and paid for it a couple of weeks ago when i was supposed to get my freebie car - but sods law - the breaks went so i didnt get it. I still havent made the phone call to cancel - but that is goal for tomorrow

Hope everyone has had a nice few days and i will catch up properly later

lotster · 23/04/2010 20:08

Trill thankyou! Well hopefully someone else will find that tip useful then!!

I am also going to have something chinesey. The hangover requires a takeaway as today has gone down the pan anyway. But also because if I am moving to the sticks soon I must take advantage of the best oriental delivery I've ever known while I still can!

This weather is going to make healthy eating much easier, always does. In the Summer we have a salad with a different topping practically every night.
What are everyone's favourite salads?? I like to make Nicoise, blue cheese and bacon, avocado and mozzarella... Started basil olive oil recently, it's delish.

lotster · 23/04/2010 20:10

god my typos are bad today, I started buying basil olive oil etc

TrillianAstra · 23/04/2010 20:12

Good luck for your phonecall Jet - remember their job is to sort out whatever you want done.

Rollercoasters are better if you can see what's coming, you can prepare yourself for being flung sideways.
