This is our mumblemumbleth thread. We want to eat more healthily and/or lose weight.

In theory.

Mostly we like to chat and admire teh thread mascot - he helps us not to over-eat.

If that doesn't do it for you, you can always go old-school - I know I'm too scared to go into the dark spooky kitchen now

Lotster I totally agree about it being easier in the summer.

I love a spanishy type salad with lots of onion, olives tuna and boiled egg. Mmmmm.

Jet - at the big one.I adore rollercoasters but that it the one tat scares the bejeezus out of me.

Bella - that really was a fab thing to do

Well done shiney with the weightloss.
Am still about the 800 cals, but you know your own body better than some random stranger typing on a screen

DF - Get the shred, but be prepared to walk like you are 9 months pregnant for the first few days (although that may just be me as I is spectacularly unfit).

Also is it you who is the militant ex-smoker? If it is, then can you shout abuse at me please as I really need to give up. That may be also why I am so unfit.

Franny - am still at your lovely location.

Am settling down for a glass of wine and MN. Will be teetotal from monday

lotster · 23/04/2010 20:24

well the bloke can't really cope without protein on a salad (and bread alongside it). Otherwise he would think it was a side salad!

I really, really want to run. Had such a bad back since my pregnancies that the impact would be bad for me so am sticking with swimming for now. Maybe in the future when I get stronger, and starting on grass... such a PITA to have to do the swimming baths palaver. Must be lovely to just head out of the door and run.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 23/04/2010 20:26

i have been listening to my brother talk on the phone for over an hour....

he has had wine.

la la la la

lotster · 23/04/2010 20:26

p.s. SMOKERS ARE JOKERS BITTER!!! (you asked)

Yum spanishy salads. Love the red onion (and sometimes peach can work a treat with it), don't forget the ubiquitous grated carrot!

MitsubishiWarrioress · 23/04/2010 20:27

my ear has gone numb..........

MitsubishiWarrioress · 23/04/2010 20:28

carrot....pah!

MitsubishiWarrioress · 23/04/2010 20:28

he says he is god....

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 23/04/2010 20:29

Mmm, grated carrot rocks!

Can you be a bit more abusive though, that was pretty tame

MitsubishiWarrioress · 23/04/2010 20:29

pleeeeeease can someone fetch me a cuppa?

hellsbelles · 23/04/2010 20:30
BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 23/04/2010 20:30

Mitts, God lives in all of us, maybe you just misheard him?

MitsubishiWarrioress · 23/04/2010 20:33

maybe he's 'cod' rofl.....

MitsubishiWarrioress · 23/04/2010 20:34

ummmmm..smoking...don't do it. it's bad for you!

hellsbelles · 23/04/2010 20:35

welcome lotster.

Minor crisis averted here - I had a night planned of wine mn women and song (glee!) and the fecking cork broke when I tried to open the wine. In desperation I managed to get half of it out and then sort of pushed in the final bit...which then squirted loads of wine into my face and hair - so DH will come home and think I'm a pisshead because I reek of alcohol!

So I've strained the cork out of the wine (I'm classy me ) and Glee is on and I'm catching up finally.

Shiney - you are doing so well despite slight faddish tendancies

wastingaway · 23/04/2010 20:35

Lotster, sounds like you know your salads. I love salads, but DH doesn't eat veg. Otherwise I'd eat salads all the time. I might just do it anyway, he can have frozen breaded chicken everyday.

Jet, sounds like a grand holiday. Well done on facing that fear.

Bitter, it's almost certainly why you're so unfit.
Save up the money you save by not buying cigs and you'll be able to afford a fabulous new wardrobe when you're slimmer and fitter.

DS is still chuntering in his cot. Happily, but annoyingly.

Oh, one set of neighbours gave us a Fisherprice farm house set this morning, the other side gave us one of those pop-up tent things with a tunnel this evening.

hellsbelles · 23/04/2010 20:36

and hello to Jet! We missed you - but so glad you had a good time.

I wonder how Yank got on - was it her first day back at work today?

DeFluff · 23/04/2010 20:36

Bitter - yes, you must remember me from lecturing Tocc

I love smoking and I mean love it. I hardly ever drink so was my only vice. Gave up when trying to conceive dd1, started again when she was about 2 but only when I didn't have her with me eg she was at parents overnight, then gave up again when ttc dd2.

I have to fight everyday still now not to smoke really, and that's about 13 months on I know if I just had one that would be it. I can only stop by thinking about the damage that it could cause my dc (not that i ever did it around them, but from the toxins on clothes etc) don't really bother about money aspect or my own health aspect.

Also I'm snob and I do think it looks horrible smoking near children. And none of my friends would ever speak to me again if I smoked, tis very looked down on in my group of friends.

I could just have answered your question with a 'yes that's me' sorry

lotster · 23/04/2010 20:36

Hah Hah, wear it Mitts!

Rollergirl1 · 23/04/2010 20:38

Helloo all, haven't been this way for a few weeks again so have no chances of catching up!

And hello lotster. Glad you here to keep me on the straight and narrow! Are you abstaining tonight as I am most definitely not!

Favourite salad: prob not especially healthy but is very tasty. Chorizo sausage and halloumi cheese with baby leaf salad. Yumm.

Are there some people running on this thread? I am completely obsessed with it now and it's only getting better with the good weather. Have just got past 10k in distance now and am booked up to do (my first) a 10k run early June. I'm quite excited!

DS2 had his first hair cut today. I am finally coming to terms with the fact that he's not my little baby anymore. And along with that comes the broodiness. God no, will def be keeping that thought/feeling at bay!

TrillianAstra · 23/04/2010 20:39

Smoking makes you smell. YOu can't smell it now, but when you stop you'll realise that you stink.

Does that help?

I am definitely going ot New York. On Friday. Well, definitiely allowing for volcanoes. Scary. But should be fun. I think. Probably v expensive (my new york boss likes cocktails).

Hi HellsBelles and WastingAway.

Belles admit it, you tried to open it with your teeth in desperation you old lush!

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 23/04/2010 20:41

Hells - I love Glee! Enjoy

Wasting - you are absolutely right. My plan is to quit and then join a gym.

I'm just terrified I'm going to put on loads of weight.

I've worked bloody hard to lose my baby weight, still have a stone or so to go and don't want to be back to square one, fat and miserable.

And I've already put on 4lb this week just by buying new scales that actually work.

wastingaway · 23/04/2010 20:43

The difference in your cardio-vascular function will be surprising when you've stopped, you'll feel so much more energetic that you'll be able to exercise more, and you'll enjoy it more. This goes for all forms of exercise.
