This is our mumblemumbleth thread. We want to eat more healthily and/or lose weight.

In theory.

Mostly we like to chat and admire teh thread mascot - he helps us not to over-eat.

If that doesn't do it for you, you can always go old-school - I know I'm too scared to go into the dark spooky kitchen now

oh, and before i forget - does anyone want a new pumpkin patch dress for a 14 year old? Tis a small fit though. I bought it in the sale (was only a couple of pound has i had a voucher) and typical - junior doesnt like it.

It is black, with a small white star design all over it. I have had a look for a link, and cant find a pic - i guess it was old stock or something, but if anyone can find a home for it, let me know

TrillianAstra · 25/04/2010 19:33

I just use fingers for foundation, brush for eyeshadow (am under 30 so allowed under Shiney's rules). Have tonnes of little 3-part eyeshadow thingys. In fact if anyone wants a light blue/purple set and a lightish brown set they can have it (too pale for me).

I like essie for nail varnish - lovely colours. And am sure there's going to be a free nails ince one on in style magazine's next issue - they're good too.

I find putting a clear topcoat on and 2 thin layers of colour makes most of them pretty good.

DeFluff · 25/04/2010 19:35

JetCat- I have not been here long, the others will know more what to say than I, and I don't know what insecurities you have but please, please do not think that. I'm not even coming to Manchester, but why on earth would you stand out because of benefits?

Is it because of money, or clothes or something? I look like Waynetta Slob. I spend all my money on dd, so my clothes come from charity shops, car boots or Ebay. I get my hair cut once a year if that. My next door neighbours took out the victorian big windows, put in small pvc ones, pebbledashed the front, painted the living room green (even the ceiling) and have constant screaming fights which we hear through the walls (usually mother screaming at teenage daughter 'you faaaking caaw' etc). As my make up questions above show, I wouldn't know how to wear it if punched me in the face. See my fb picture, I'm wearing a cowboy hat

My parents were very working class (can you change class? I have no idea). We have relatives who drink out of jam jars I kid you not

I have some money as I have a well paid (But soul destroying) job, however I have no class or style at all I once wee'd in a public park I am definitely not posh.

Anyway, we have a big thing in common - both our exs are total twats

TrillianAstra · 25/04/2010 19:35

Glad you had a nice afternoon SAF - agree it's weird to not introduce people properly. This is X, she works with Y, etc.

Jet if you don't need a car don't get a car. It's none of his business if you have one or not. If you don't want to talk about it you can just be vague, tell him 'not yet' or 'maybe in a while'.

i actually have a full vanity case of make up i never use.. ooh,, just had a thought

We could bring spares etc to out meet, and when we are having our cocktails in bella and shiney's room, we could have a make up swap

TrillianAstra · 25/04/2010 19:38

Not cheapskate at all Jet, v sensible. Take your stuff and Shiney will probably show you fantastic things to do with it, so you'll instantly want to keep it all!

defluff - thats it exactly I have no idea of the right thing to wear, what make up to use, hair hasnt had a cut in years etc etc etc. And when i say no idea, i mean no idea at all. After years of being so big (size 32 at heaviest) i got used to if something fitted, get it, whether i liked it or not. So now, when i can actually buy clothes in 'normal' shops, i cant figure out what to buy

My pa (who i spent the most time with lately) is the type of person who has fake nails put on every fortnight - at the cost of £25 a time, hair cut every 4 weeks, buys clothes at the drop of a hat and so on. So at the moment, i guess i am mainly judging myself by her standards

DeFluff · 25/04/2010 19:41

So, back to foundation, its wet, like normal foundation, but it still works with a brush? Doesn't it leave lines? {any one ever get the idea I am just NOT understanding this?!}

TotalChaos · 25/04/2010 19:42

jet - blimey ex sounds tight as a ducks arse, well done for standing your ground. and well done for driving, I am too gutless to learn to drive.

thanks for the make up tips ladies, glad to hear that mascara is allowed.

SAF - I am very much not the lady to ask about anything cosmetic related . I tend to head for the cheapest brand in Boots as a safe bet for that sort of thing.

jetcat · 25/04/2010 19:42

i bet you dont look like waynetta at all defluff SOrry your ex is also a twat

trills - i have been trying to find a way of asking for make up help at the meet up for weeks now, so am very very grateful you just suggested that

FiveGoMadInDorset · 25/04/2010 19:43

Oh Fuckety fuck, DH's brother has inadvertently been caught up in a money laundering thing, with death threats. Now what shoudl I wear to the funeral (sorry my attempt at balck humour)

DeFluff · 25/04/2010 19:49

Jet - all DP's friends' girlfriends are like that, fake tan, fake nails, hair cut weekly, very jordanesque though (not nice and subtle nails and hands like on this thread I am sure). I just hide and refuse to go out. Does make you feel insecure but then I just think 'underneath this mumsy exterior those be-atches have no idea lies a woman with a pvc basque and thigh high boots just bursting to get out'

Think it would be good actually to get dressed up and actually make myself look nice for a change, might give DP a shock too Think it will make me feel tons better, same as I think Manchester will back you feel better too Jet

VinegarTits · 25/04/2010 19:49
