Shiney Cult - how do you eat yours?

1002 replies

TrillianAstra · 10/04/2010 16:03

Sparingly we hope - with plenty of fresh fruit and veg

Spring is in the air and we are still here, on our 62nd (?) thread for healthy eating, chat, and of course the cult mascot (what better to put you off your food?).

The aim of the game is to post a lot, eat slightly better than before, and enjoy life.

Morning lovelies

Mitts - take it easy (that is an order btw!)

Trills - i think Disney films have subliminal messages hidden that make grown people cry, so don't worry. Or you were just so tired

Mycat - glad you have had a good weekend.

Rather an exciting day of catching up on housework planned. Bit grey here so meh. Giving the potty training another go to

Alicetheinvisible · 12/04/2010 08:36

Lost an 'o' there, should be too

FiveGoMadInDorset · 12/04/2010 08:39

That made no sense whatsoever, we go up to the cafe which overlooks the pool as it is only open for swmming lessons.

TotalChaos · 12/04/2010 08:40

Mitts - one or two ladies on the SN board found cutting out aspartame made a massive difference to their kids - I tried too, but didn't find it made any difference to DS (shrug). It does infuriate me though how many squash type drinks contain both aspartame and sugar, so you get the worst of both words. Sorry you are feeling poorly agree with the other ladies about taking it easy.

VT - agree with other ladies about letting down the merry widower in a kind but clear way.

claudia - wow, I didn't realise there were so many MNetters in Oz to be having city meetups, have a great time

TotalChaos · 12/04/2010 08:41

oh and morning alice, five and swallows.

trillian = me and Dh were also howling during that sequence in Up!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 12/04/2010 08:42

Morning TC.

Haven't seen Up yet.

TrillianAstra · 12/04/2010 08:53

Methinks someone has a saved search... always seems to pop up around here.

Exactly SHiney, you take your own stuff because:
1 - they might not have the stuff you want
2 - I'd feel bad using your Clarins stuff when I normally have Botts own

But no need to take toothpaste. Everyone hass toothpaste, all toothpaste is pretty much equivalent, you'll only need a tiny squeeze anyway.

re: 5 year plan - gosh other than be doing a different job (I'm in NHS admin, do a lot of donkey work, so in 5 years time would aspire to doing more thinking work and less donkey work!) I've not got many other thoughts. I suppose a lot terms on how things go with DS - my DS, 6, has special needs - relatively mild atm (language delay/impairment) but has some knock on effect with social skills - I don't know whether maturity will help, or whether any gap will become bigger with his peers . He's supposedly "probably" not on the autistic spectrum - but suspect he will get a diagnosis around junior school age. DS is placid (with others, quite capable of being a PITA for family!), well behaved, and untroubled by changes in routine, and good at blagging it where his language skills are struggling - so his needs can be overlooked in the school system...

gosh - I didn't think I would end up unloading that on here!

bellavita · 12/04/2010 09:01

Morning..

Me too Trills, me too, would be like visiting a Spa going to Shiney's Bathroom

I thought as much JJDad

How are we all today?

I am a leetle tired as DH snored all bloody night, ggggrrrrrr.

However, I am quite chipper as I got on the scales after my morning wee and I have lost another three quarters of a pound - I am so chuffed. I would kill though for a piece of toast this morning, but I will have some yoghurt. >

TotalChaos · 12/04/2010 09:03

well done on the further weight loss bella!

are you low-carbing then? just wondering why toast is verboten?

bellavita · 12/04/2010 09:08

Total - yes on the advice of traceybath and hells... I am doing weightwatchers, but even after counting points etc etc, my weight wasn't shifting (I do only have a few pounds to lose so I know it will come off more slowly), they suggested cutting out bread for a while which I started to do last week. So far I have lost 2.75lbs.

Lizzylou · 12/04/2010 09:11

Hello all

Am back and have no hope of catching up (especially if I want to work and get all my other jobs done).
Had a fab time up at Ingleton, spent yesterday at Arnside on Morecambe Bay eating fish and chips walking and playing on the beach, was just beautiful and so sunny.
Now I am back to an empty (dirty) house and lots of work.
How is everyone?
Well done on weightloss Bella

bellavita · 12/04/2010 09:16

Morning Lizzy, sounds like you had a fab time. I thought it was cold here yesterday, certainly nothing like it was on Saturday, but yet last night after DS2 had been in the shower, I noticed how red his neck was from the sun , luckily I had some aloe vera gel stuff that I slapped on him to help calm it down.

Right, I really must drag my backside out of bed.

My only real toiletries luxury is No7 Protect and perfect...

I would love to wear nice perfume but have only ever had 2 bottles on nice stuff.

Radox is about as swish as I get... err not very then...

hellsbelles · 12/04/2010 09:53

Sounds like a nice friend SAF.

Morning all...grumpy here as DD is poorly and I have the in-laws coming in about an hour to visit and bring DS home (not grumpy about seeing DS). So I have to do mammoth tidy up.

Bella - goodness you are doing so so well. Not far to go now at all! And I loved reading about DS2....he is a credit to you with those manners.

Shiney - I too like converse (do you think it is a an age thing ). All this talk of fashion...as someone who was a loyal wearer of footglove shoes - I have suddenly hurtled headlong into buying lovely things. ANd it is a pleasure.

But I am sticking to my 'comfort is key' code. And am firmly of the Trill's school of thought - I get things because they are nice and will never get stuff just because it's fashionable.

DIB - I miss yank too...but thank you for doing a proper yank style round up in her absence.

CAt - well done on weight loss.

LIzzy - hello!

Mitts - so sad reading about your mum and how different it would be for her if she was born a few decades later.

Right - I must stop MN'ing and get tidying.

Morning all.

I am coughing like a maniac today. I sound like a consumptive old man! V attractive. Still I managed to walk DD to nursery and have lost... wait for it..

4lb in my first week! How the hell that happened god only knows. I had a load to drink on Friday and a chinese meal. I did save my points up though to try and counter it, so maybe that is why.

Our 5yr plan is to be living in the village we want to be in, our own businesses running and making a decent living and to go skiing in South America over the school summer hols when DS is 6 (DD will be 10).

Bella, well done on the weight loss.

Mitts - I love No7 protect and perfect. I ask for it for birthday presents. I am nearly out of the eye cream and am a tad concerned as my eyes need all the help they can get.

SAF - hope you had a good weight loss.

DEM - just wanted to say you sound a lot happier to me? I hope you are.

MyCatIsABastard · 12/04/2010 10:25

Sazz - HELLO

DidEinsteinsMum · 12/04/2010 10:25

wow, i have just survived my first school run. And the only bad bit was that i am very cold.

Although i need to pop down and take ds' homework and pe kit down. One he didnt tell me he needed. the other i could find.

MyCatIsABastard · 12/04/2010 10:25

saf - sorry, xpost there. Staying the same is better than gaining. Well done.
