Oh blimey Jet- what are you gonna do?

jetcat · 03/04/2010 20:16
Lizzylou · 03/04/2010 20:16

Are you close to your Sister, Jet?

If she met up with your Dad would you want to? Or perhaps bide your time?

hellsbelles · 03/04/2010 20:17

Jet - how do you feel about your sister? Does she sound like someone you could like or want in your life? I know it's extremely hard (rightly given your experience) to trust anyone new though.

Defluff...I did notice that but didn't want to say anything ...but have to agree with sensible BOF...worth checking out - however cute the new shape is.

hellsbelles · 03/04/2010 20:18

bloody hell...have to post and run as DH is cross with me for too much MN'ing. Will be back later.

jetcat · 03/04/2010 20:20

I have no feelings towards him whatsoever BOF, so i dont think i will be in touch anytime soon. My sister should really have learned her lesson - she ended up in scotland as aged 18, she walked out on her foster parents and went back home to our birth mum (who she hadnt seen since the age of 5). Birth mum made her all kinds of promises, and i got slated for not joining in the big reunuion. But, three weeks later, mum kicks her out, leaving her homeless and miles away from anyone.

I knew then that it was just not a chance i was prepared to take, as i am fucked up enough too independent minded now

And if i am honest, i look at the picture of him, sitting on the couch, smirking away, and i just want to punch him

DidEinsteinsMum · 03/04/2010 20:20

Lizzy have you been apart of the re-enct battle at tatton?

One we saw over a year ago was fab!

bellavita · 03/04/2010 20:21

I have just had a nice bath too

Takeaway lovely as was choc fudge cake....

Wow jet, that is some story. Have you thought what you might do? Well done on the car. You might get a bed on freecycle?

Iggi - am excited for you.

Lizzylou · 03/04/2010 20:23

Oh DEM, I was just having Mitts on, sorry.

DH would actually love to do it, he has a bit of a thing about busty serving wenches. He'd be a Roundhead though, I am the Catholic one (Cavaliers were so much more fun though, more flamboyant and decadent).

Reality of it is that we'd probably have been peasants in a pig pen anyhow, hardly Lord/Lady types

MitsubishiWarrioress · 03/04/2010 20:24

Wow Jet....how extraordinary for you.... it must be such a rush of mixed emotions... I hope you are OK.

Lizzy, My Grandparents used to live opposite a rebuild Roman Fort (amazing village built on a Roman Site) and we used to watch the Roman Battle enactments, and they also used to do food etc from that time, but even more incredibly made their own helmets and chain mail. I was once commissioned to do a cloak clasp for someone involved..

DidEinsteinsMum · 03/04/2010 20:25

Me thinks that you could have a bit of fun with that idea even if you dont really do the re-enactments Epescially if dh is into busty serving wrenchs....

jetcat · 03/04/2010 20:25

my sis and i are a year apart, and are the only siblings from my birth mum who actually managed to stay together in care (out of 9 of us). We had no contact with the rest of them. We were separated when i was 14, and living with new foster parents (the deepcut ones) cos i only lasted 8 months. I moved into a new kids home, and she stayed with them and moved to london.

We lost touch a little over the years, then got back in touch, and are now probably as close as we will ever be. She lives about 300 miles from me, and i think that is just about right - she is quite demanding There is a lot of unfinished business between us, and a lot i can't manage to forgive her for (sounds awful i know) but i can try and have a relationship with her

DidEinsteinsMum · 03/04/2010 20:26

pst if you know how a sewing macine is i think i have a pattern somewhere...

DidEinsteinsMum · 03/04/2010 20:27

FiveGoMadInDorset · 03/04/2010 20:28

jetcat · 03/04/2010 20:29

BitOfFun · 03/04/2010 20:29

I need to get some use from my sewing machine- the promise of a kinky costume might just do it

Jet- don't be daft, you know we love to jangle about all our ups and downs: this thread is a veritable new age garden fence

DidEinsteinsMum · 03/04/2010 20:30

No! normal as in chating and HERE! you have been a bit awol recently...

DidEinsteinsMum · 03/04/2010 20:31

Reminds me. i still need to get mine new one... just dont expect i will get chance. got some lovely material and patterns for tops....

Lizzylou · 03/04/2010 20:31

Don't tempt me, DEM
Though Shiney has got me feeling I am missing out somewhat

Goodness Jet, are you in touch with any of your other siblings? I can see why you'd be worried about meeting up with your Dad.

jetcat · 03/04/2010 20:33

here you go BoF I am sure with a few alterations here and there, it would do the trick!

Myfanjoisdefluffed · 03/04/2010 20:33

the friend i mentioned goes to a group for adoptees. She finds it very useful. Hers is a specialised group as its for those adopted into a family of different ethnicity from their own, but would you find anything like that helpful? Apologies if you've already dealt with everything or don't think its for you.

jetcat · 03/04/2010 20:37

no worries defluff, it's strange as the family i miss the most are my second foster family, as i was with them for 10 years. I have very little recollection of my actual birth family, so dont really see them as family - tis just words - birth mum, dad etc.

Lizzy, no contact with other siblings, my brother did get in touch last year (the wonders of facebook, and again, through my sister) but seems to have disappeared again.

bellavita · 03/04/2010 20:38

Me too Lizzy, me too

Jet, post away. We have missed you.

I have a sewing machine, but crap at doing stuff on it and I have never attempted to make anything.
