new thread for porky veggers trying to lose weight

oh it is WEIGH IN DAY

you don't have to weigh in, but if you want to, this is the day

Is he still going Avi?

iMum · 07/04/2010 15:34

Right so far today I have had

Bran flakes for brekkie with tea

Lunch was my fave, cumin and lemon chickpeas and tomatoes on toast with humous.

Dinner is slightly more indulgent
Salmon and brocolli pasta with a (left over from easters fish pie) cheese sauce.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/04/2010 18:16

hello iMum

banana on toast
teeny weeny flapjack square
cheese topped roll with cucumber and salad cream (a guilty pleasure!) with veg cous cous, tomatoes and cucumber sticks.
10 mini eggs
juice - the horrid type I had yesterday.
roast lamb with broad beans, asparagus and peas.

I've falled off the wagon somewhat. I need FOCUS, and to rethink next weeks meal planner

CoupleofKooks · 07/04/2010 18:23

wow cumin and lemon chickpeas sounds amazing iMum
i don't like spicy flavours that much, but cumin is just lovely

well looks like the clauses about Home ed are well and truly dropped from the CSF bill! my god i can't tell you the relief

plus i got the old mooncup out today which would also explain my dissatisfaction with life yesterday (sorry )

right is anyone counting f+v?
i will do the next thread with an intro about 10 a day
we need focus

i have had
cereal + mango, raisins, dried berries, apple (3)
cheese and pickle rolls
3 satsumas (1.5)
banana cake (won't attempt to pass as a portion although tempting)
huge plate of cheesy veg (like cauli cheese but all sorts, broccoli, carrots, peas, parsnips) (4?)

boys are playing cutely together

avi help me crack this ds2 pooing thing
we could go nappy free now if it wasn't for the poos

oh oh a friend i haven't seen for 2 weeks looked at me suspiciously and said "have you lost LOADS of weight?"

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 07/04/2010 18:24

jesus i just went to get my last 4 squares of green and blacks and there was a dead loofah on it

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 07/04/2010 18:25

lemur the f+v counting will sort us out a bit? how many portions did you have today?

do you meal plan every week?

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 07/04/2010 18:26

btw iMum what is Paul McKenna? i know he is a hypnotist, is it like a tape you listen to?

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/04/2010 18:28

oh yeah, portion counting. I forgot about that. I really do have a sieve for a brain at the moment.

lol at the mooncup. Not that pms is funny, but it did make me laugh

Hurrah for friend noticing the weight loss

Oh, and I've just realised I previously said I've falled off the wagon. Where is my brain today? It's just a grey mushy mush that not's doing much at the moment

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/04/2010 18:32

I reckon I had 8-9 portions, but I think I'll have some fruit later tonight.

I meal plan for the week ahead, but not like the spreadsheet thingy that some people use. Although I am tempted to do that as I have meal fatigue at the moment. You know that thing when you look in a full fridge and cupboard but can't think of anything to make?

I also batch cook and freeze so I don't have to cook from scratch everyday.

Yes, what is Paul McKenna. Can you think yourself slim? My SIL gave up the fags by hypnotherapy.

ThePinkOne · 07/04/2010 21:29

We might have to explain loofah to imum Fran otherwise she'll think that's a bit wierd. If you're confused iMum I'll tell you but Kooks will look away (btw we all call you Fran and new people will not understand and we will be quiche-y)

I ran 6.6k (but I prefer 4 miles) Woooooo hooooooo.

Good news about HE Fran

I had a spare diary last year - got 2 for christmas - so I meal-planned in that. Then when you're lacking in inspiration you can flick back through. Otherwise I just do it on a scrap of paper with the shopping list and throw it away.

I have a story a bit like that re the losing weight. MIL asked 'ooh has MrPink lost weight?', 'No' replied MrPink. 'No he hasn't but I've lost half a stone' added Pink. End of conversation.

CoupleofKooks · 08/04/2010 08:31

oh pink the rotters

4 miles!!
robert has been languishing on the shelf this week due to sore throat thing and ds1 sleep issues
i lay down with him last night and he dropped off in about 5 mins bless him
am trying not to get stressed about it but there's usually quite a lot to do in the evenings without cuddling a 6 year old to sleep, however it is quite a nice thing to do and will not be forever [mantra]

ok loofahs and me being fran
do we need a 10/10 explanation list? nah nobody would care anyway
we'll just muddle along
iMum doesn't care i am sure

can i just boast about ds1 please
he is 7 on saturday, i asked him what special food he would like on his birthday and he said
breakfast - "muesli with yogurt and honey, mango, apple and grapes"
lunch - "a nice salad"
dinner - "something plain like a peanut butter sandwich as we'll have had quite a lot of rich food that day"
he does make me laugh
i am sure he will spend his teens eating pot noodle or something but there you go

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 08/04/2010 17:44

i have killed thread with my 10/10 offspring smuggery

cereal pear, apple, pineapple, raisins (4)

wrap with philadephia, avocado, tomato, loads of rocket, spinach (2)

green and blacks cereal bar

small plate pasta with pesto

am going to eat dinner later with dp - well that's the plan
am also planning a run - but both boys currently need a parent with them while going to sleep - plus ds2 doesn't go to sleep till about 9.30 pm some nights, so can't be put in same room as ds1 to sleep - so is anyone's guess really

the home ed clauses of CSF bill are definitely gone! will pop straight back up if labour get in again though so FGS don't vote labour
(am sure we are all LibDem or Green anyway )

Have a read of this!

Can I share a DD moment? We were buying a lawnmower and the conversation went a bit like this:
Pink: how close to the edge does it cut?
Lawnmower man: Oh yes, right to the edge.
PinkDD: and does it cut the middle?
Lawnmower man: Yes, it cuts the middle too.

CoupleofKooks · 08/04/2010 21:11

hi avi! is your back ok? i hope the shed is lovely
i will think of you all being very happy together there and i am sure it will come true

birdsandblossoms that is extraordinary - what a change you must feel
glad you are feeling so positive about what you've done

have shambled with robert's podcast
god what a long day

took boys to an activity this morning (we asked ds2 what he did there - "eat cheese! eat raisins!" )
then went to garden centre blew £25 on herbs and shit
cheated this year and bought loads of seedlings rather than trying to grow all from scratch - we are ruddy failures at gardening

then lovely lady who comes to read books to ds2 once a week came, so i could do things with ds1
then back out to buy things for home ed party tomorrow
then made dinner for boys
then went for run
then got both boys to sleep simultaneously (bfing ds2 on one side and holding ds1's hand on the other side - felt like bizarre yoga position)
ate quorn thing, wedges, red cabbage, carrots
am now typing easter quiz and riddles for tomorrow's party

but feeling good, though tired, and i have noticed my spotty chin is less spotty these days

LOL at smallpink
well it was a logical question

ds1, when asked what he would like to do on his birthday, wondered if he could please spend the day gardening
i think he lies awake at night thinking of ways to be cute the next day

am eating pink grapefruit from my graze box
bit sour tbh

Ohh Fra, you sound like you've been super woman today

We planted our strawberries out at the weekend. I can only fanny around with so much sowing and seedlings, so we brought strawberry plants. I have my limits and I'm sticking with them!

birdsandblossoms, do I know you? Am I being really dense? Is it really obvious who it is?

We walked to toddler group this morning - luckily ds didn't decide to pin a baby down and ride it like a horse this week?! And the baby was there again so the poor thing couldn't have been too traumatised! I also noticed his mother had 2 older children which explains why she was ok about it last week.

Then this afternoon we went to see a friend who has got 2 young children and a newborn. Oooohhhh, her head was as soft as velvet and she smelt of new baby. She laid on my bosom for the whole time I was there I thought ds would be very jealous but he didn't bat an eyelid and bounced around on the trampoline like a mad one.

banana
pear
veg cous cous, cucumber sticks, tomatoes and one slice of homemade veg pizza.
twirl - damn that easter chocolate
fishfingers, 7 chips, baked beans and peas.
grapes
melon
juice

Oh, and I have just brought ds some DIVINE bright red jeans off Ebay for a song

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/04/2010 21:23

I do love grapefruit, but it can screw your arse up can't it?

ThePinkOne · 08/04/2010 21:25

Lol Lemur! My friend's DD is a year older than DS and she used to sit on him like that when he was starting to crawl!!

CoupleofKooks · 08/04/2010 21:34

it was minging grapefruit
i am eating mini eggs to take the taste away

i've bought strawberry plants too lemur
we've never tried them before - i expect we will kill them like we do everything else
dp says it is too early for them to go out yet? i was going to plant them at the weekend
he says we might have a frost

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 08/04/2010 21:35

i think birdsandblossoms is just popping in to say hello and get a bit of encouragement
she isn't a past vegger AFAIK

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/04/2010 21:55

Oh ok, as long as I'm not supposed to know who she is Jolly well done B&B

The strawberry plants should be ok as they are usually left in the ground all year round. If you are worried, put them up against the side of the house. We've put ours in hanging basket type things and they've been ok outside - so far!!

A friend told us that to get the most from your strawberries you're not supposed to pick them the first year. Yeah right, that's not going to happen here I can tell you.

CoupleofKooks · 08/04/2010 22:18

i will be amazed if any strawberry gets past ds2 tbh
we have 2 plants - is that crap? i was trying to be frugal
will we get enough for a bowl full?
