NormaSknockers · 16/02/2010 16:28

Sorry you feel poorly again Vinny, get yourself some Vit C etc Poor Finn too & for you!

Glad DS settled in ok MyCat

Lizzylou · 16/02/2010 16:49

Glad DS was OK, MyCat

Vinny, you need to get some Vit C/vitamins down your gullet missy. Otherwise you'll be phlegming up over Juan, and that just won't do.

Just picked up boys, went and did 45 mins in the gym first which was good. On course for 4x this week. Getting easier on the treadmill as well.
Have promised myself another 10mins on the fat wobbler tomorrow, if I do an hour in the gym

VinegarTits · 16/02/2010 17:19

Have a nice evening. expect i will be back at some point.

bellavita · 16/02/2010 17:44

Hello

Hope you feel better tomorrow Vnny.

MyCat - glad DS was ok at nursery.

Go you Lizzy at the gym.

Where is the Shiney one?

Met my friend at the swimming pool this morning, paid the boys in and then we made a run for it - actuallly, it was the boys that did the running, they were that eager to get on the slides. I left my car there and went back to hers in her car. She had that coat on . She has a lovely, lovely house but has to put up with a lot from her DP. She is not happy that she has to pay all her wages that she earns from her school job into the joint account, do his books and earns a wage from that. I suppose it is more tax efficient to do it that way, but the book wages are not as much as her school wages....

Came home, cooked lunch, it then took me 45 mins to thrice line the 12" cake tin. Took DS1 to the Dr's - he has an ear infection, got back, started to mix the cake, DH came home and had to finish the mixing for me as there was so much mixture. Gave me a kiss, declared how nice I smelt and said blimey you have been busy today

MitsubishiWarrioress · 16/02/2010 18:16

Off to Kick some ass boxing. Be good.

Am going to be a very good girl for lent so need some resolve......

Cat - thank you - it was you on the evening primrose. It's worked quite a bit though this evening I'm feeling very very grouchy - but I can't expect miracles....so any lessening of the evil witch I usually become is good.

Trudging round in the rain taking DS to his guitar lesson and then walking round and round with DD until he was finished didn't help.

WIll catch up on all your other news after supper.

bellavita · 16/02/2010 19:14

Hopes SLUBS is going to pop over and give me some help.

Here is what I need to know....

I have made a 12" cake in my new silverwood cake pan. I put it in the oven at 140 at 5.15. I could really smell it, so have gone in and opened the oven up and bloody hell it looks cooked. (A little bit too cooked on top). I have put a skewer into three different places and when it is pulled out there is not a hint of uncooked mixture.... this cake is supposed to be in for 5 hours. Do you think I should chance it? For the moment, I have put a double layer of baking paper over the top.

jaquelinehyde · 16/02/2010 19:15

Oooh lots of illing people not nice

Bella Thank-you so much for agreeing to be my bank manager I was going to say piggy bank but you probably don't want to be known known as that do you

Now I just have to try and convince DP that it is a good way to spend my student loan money! He is really against it so far so wish me luck!

No pancakes in this house today, we had no eggs or flour, and no money to buy anything so we raided the cupboards for meals

My brother has just informed me that he is giving up everything bad for lent! I'm considering joining him doing it. Anyone else giving up stuff?

bellavita · 16/02/2010 19:19

Sssshhhhh don't mention pancakes Jaq - mine said something about them this morning but I am really not in the mood to be making them as you can see by my above post. I am like a cat on hot bricks waiting for Slubs advice....

Bloody stupid cake.

Slubberdegullion · 16/02/2010 19:19

hellooooo there.

How very odd. It the cake quite deep? Is it a fruit cake? A 12 incher really shouldn't be cooked in an hour (unless it's a sponge) but the skewer shouldn't lie.

Need more info mrs

bellavita · 16/02/2010 19:24

It is a 12" fruit cake in my new Silverwood Cake Pan tin thingy..... you know the multi sized one.

It comes up to about an inch from the top. I put it in at 5.15. When I did an 8" one for christmas, it did say in my delia book that it would take approx 3.5 hours and mine cooked in around 2. But I would have expected this one to be in there more than 2....

Do you think it is because the cake pan is think rather than my lovely thick Lakeland ones?

Slubberdegullion · 16/02/2010 19:24

140 on fan or conventional?

Slubberdegullion · 16/02/2010 19:27

I do all my fruits in the silverwood and they always take a long time, but I tend to cover in foil and have them on conventional.

I think I'd turn it down, foil the top and give it another half an hour at least.

Nothing worse than a moist-in-the-wrong-way fruit cake.

bellavita · 16/02/2010 19:27

This is a test cake - I have to do a proper one for my friend - her parents are having a 50th Wedding Anniversary do. I am really panicking now about the whole thing - how on earth am I going to ice the retched thing?

Nice to see you back btw.

bellavita · 16/02/2010 19:28

Oh thank you for your help >

I will foil the damn thing now.

Slubberdegullion · 16/02/2010 19:29

Calm yourself Muriel.

What do you mean how am I going to ice it?

Am I going to have to get firm with you?

Nice to be back too btw...although am giving up for lent

bellavita · 16/02/2010 19:34

Noooo, you can't go now you have come back

I really don't want to do this cake malarky anymore

I just panic - like now.

DH has helped me and pulled the tray out of the oven and held onto the cake pan whilst I put the foil over. Have turned the oven down to 110.

Thanks for your help

Slubberdegullion · 16/02/2010 19:42

No worries matey .

You musn't panic with the cake, it will sense it and start buggering about. Think calm, slow movements and quiet reassuring voices. Like you'd do with a rhino.

No I think this is my 4th year of giving up mn for Lent. I'm on a roll now.

DreamsInBinary · 16/02/2010 19:45

Oh fuckity fuckity fuck.

DD (1) had two loose nappies in nursery today, and so now cannot go back for 48 hours. Friday. FFS.

Am cross - it's way too early in the year to be taking holidays.

(She's fine, btw)

mamazon · 16/02/2010 20:11

DIB thats a bit strict isn't it?

Vinny i saw the pics of Finns scratch, is that what the child did? it looks very sore.

healthy eating regime has gone flying out the window today.

we made sausage pasta bake for tea - wasn't sooo bad. i had intended on not eating teh sausages but they were so yummy i couldn't help it.

then we made chocolate covered flapjacks. not eaten them yet but i know i will. i do make a good flapjack.

and i had to make pancakes for the dc's. there was loads left over so in order not to be wasteful i had three one.
with strawberries and ice cream and raspberry sauce.

oops.

mind you i did take the dc's and dog on a 3 hour walk to feed the ducks and collect things for painting tomorrow.
i am working on the theory that i will just be replacing the calories i used up during the walk.
