Ah now i understand about the congrats. Fab news about the job Mycat, congrats

Lizzy/Jet. Am tied up after this week until the easter holidays. Typically ds' and mine are different. But I wont be able to until then. Sorry folks.

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 16/02/2010 11:15

I have a 2 hour window in which i can sleep. I think, now that i am nicely full after breakfast, i am going to do that. Catch ya later.

Erm do you think HQ are a bit tired out after last night's meltdown? I want the to delete something i posted. dont want it hanging about too long. Ah well expect it will be gone in 2 hrs time. will have to hit report again if not.

Alicetheinvisible · 16/02/2010 11:26

I have just made it back from town, just as it started raining with a buggy full of fruit and veg.

I spent £12 and got

bag of yummy red grapes
celery
huge yellow pepper
cherry tomatoes on the vine
carrots
green beans
potatoes
cauliflower
cabbage
red onions
half doz eggs
2 pots of soup from farm shop stall

I'm sure there is more (there is a vast quantity of what i bought too). This is why i cannot understand how people can complain the reason they eat rubbish is because they are on benefits and healthy food is too expensive. I am happy to be proved wrong if that is the case.

iggi999 · 16/02/2010 11:30

£12 in Iceland would get me 12 burgers, 2 bags mixed veg, 2 bags chips, 1 cheesecake, 1 tub icecream, 2 pizzas, 1 packed of quorn fillets and two loaves of bread.

iggi999 · 16/02/2010 11:35

Had lost half kilogram on scales this morning. Amazing given recent diet. But then I converted my weight from kg to stones and it is still a number I don't even want to think about. And have mother coming to stay tomorrow, who is the source of all my issues with food/constant dieter from the day she was born, I think. Bah.
I should add that wasn't actually my shopping list, Alice! Yours sounds yum.

NormaSknockers · 16/02/2010 11:42

Alice, you missed the chocolate off

MN went down?? Blimey I did miss a lot, I just thought it was a quiet few days on our thread

MyCat nothing wrong with asking, like you say if you don't ask you don't get!

DH is pissing me off big time today No particular reason other then he's breathing, think I may need to start taking EPO! DS has just woken up so looks like we'll be off out in a second, I'm going to looks for a new top whilst DH takes the DC into Maccy Ds so that I'm not tempted!

Alicetheinvisible · 16/02/2010 11:52

Iggi - was going to say you weren't doing too badly if that was your diet

traceybath · 16/02/2010 12:01

MyCat - well done on getting your job and I think its definitely a good idea to ask for more money.

Iggi - well done on your loss.

Lizzy - I am so with you on getting fed up with the trials of rural living - give me a house on a nice new estate anyday.

MyCatIsABastard · 16/02/2010 12:03

Alice, I'm with you on the shopping, fruit and veg is cheap, especially if you go to the market. We also get our potatoes by the sack, about £4 for a sack and that lasts us about 3mths.

Was just about to chat but DS has woken up.

Beef stew and dumplings for lunch for me and the lad. YUM!

See you later.

PS - Norma, I get that with DH sometimes, poor bloke (although sometimes he is a tit and deserves my wrath ).

Lizzylou · 16/02/2010 12:19

Tracey, it is a nice new estate though! But only small, built on the site of an old mill down a very steep hill. It is lovely in (the very brief) spring and summers.
I hanker after a period property/barn conversion but then remember that most of them round here are on worse roads and DH is v opposed to hulking great 4x4s, as am I tbh, until it snows .

TrillianAstra · 16/02/2010 12:37

Not everyone has a cheap fruit/veg market nearby, or the opportunity to get to one when it's open.

Alicetheinvisible · 16/02/2010 12:40

That is fair enough

iggi999 · 16/02/2010 12:45

Does anyone here own a nano and a pc? Am thinking the two not mixing well together. Or I am doing something wrong

TrillianAstra · 16/02/2010 12:52

My ipod nano and PC talk to each other fine - what's the problem?

iggi999 · 16/02/2010 12:58

Sorry to be an IT bore before I start -
just got it yesterday. What's causing me hair loss is the video. I can take video, I can open it and drag onto desktop where Quicktime will open it (says it's MPG4 file) BUT none of my video editing or copying stuff (eg Windows media player, W movie maker, W dvd maker) will recognise the file at all.
I don't really want videos for Utube etc, I want ones I can copy onto disc and keep/send to parents etc!
So, Dr Trills, can you help??

NormaSknockers · 16/02/2010 13:12

We have fab local butchers that we get some really good deals in but fruit/veg front we have nothing aside from the local supermarets. It's bloody costly to eat fresh, healthy food isn't it?

The only Nano I've ever owned was one of those tamogotchi things

DH has taken DD out, decided it wasn't a great idea for DS to go out in the rain as he's not stopped whining for the past hour so don't fancy making his cold any worse.

TrillianAstra · 16/02/2010 13:13

Nope, sorry, never done video (think I have the generation before). They are supposed to be designed to work with both, I'd google 'convert mpg4 into xxx' where xxx is a format you want, but I expect you've done that already.

bellavita · 16/02/2010 13:14

I have copied and pasted what you have written to DH - he may be able to help..

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 16/02/2010 13:14

Alice- you live in the main veg growing area. It is half the price down fenland way compared to up here. Seriously thinking about doing a weekly shop of veg after half term when doing my weekly fen land run.

By the way, why are you invisible?

Iggy - its cos windows media etc arent designed to open MP4 format files. you'll need a converter!

iggi999 · 16/02/2010 13:21

Thanks for advice! Have just tried online converter thing, but it gave me back an error message (prob coz it was free).
But the bigger question is, WHY are things never straightforward? Obv some kind of global conspiracy.

iggi999 · 16/02/2010 13:22

Wanted to video bloody wedding on it, but may be asking a bit much!
Got hairdresser appt this avvo, talking about tiaras etc so if I come back looking like poodle in the glitter box I will post a picture.

bellavita · 16/02/2010 13:23

This is what DH says...

She needs to get something to convert from MP4 to something more windows-ish. There are probably some free tools on the net that will do it.

bellavita · 16/02/2010 13:24

Ah ah I see you already know that

iggi999 · 16/02/2010 13:25

Thanks Bella. I didn't know it till I asked on here
Will keep trying..

wastingaway · 16/02/2010 13:50

Afternoon.
I'm not going to get to the market today. I rang the gas safe man and had to wait in.
Is it obligatory for tradesmen to be patronising?
He says it's not a leak, but 'if you got that cupboard in some semblance of order' somethings probably spilled.
It's really not that bad.

When the landlord's joiner was here, he asked me 'where's your husband?' then proceeded to tell DH that the door would need another coat of paint. Err, hello! Sentient being sitting here!
