Ah, but I only have four children in my 'class' iggi . And when they piss me off, I am allowed to make them go upstairs or put the tv on when I want a break.

Wasting - yes, it can be great fun, just pretty relentless, and it can be frustrating when they look like they're doing nothing for weeks on end but then very gratifying when you realise quite how much they know!

It requires no more patience than the summer holidays does for people who send their children to school. I guess if you're the sort of person who can't wait for them to end, then HE probably ain't for you, but when parents say they love the summer holidays, I never understand why they don't HE .

Yessss! Got to use the new icon!

Alicetheinvisible · 02/02/2010 14:00

Must admit, a cross between and faces sums up how i am feeling. Shouldn't have eaten anything

wastingaway · 02/02/2010 14:02

Oh Alice, have yu spoken to MW?

FlamingoBingo · 02/02/2010 14:03

Oh Alice Poor you! Are you being sick a lot? Or just feeling very sick?

Lizzylou · 02/02/2010 14:08

Alice, sweetheart, please call MW/GP, and rest up.
Have you got hold of your DH yet?

Iggi, hope you're OK.

I am in awe of teachers and Home Edders. I always wanted to be a teacher, but I think I may lack the patience required!

My frustrated teacher comes out every now and then, like this weeks space thingy we're doing. Then I get annoyed as they won't listen to me and it's back to the TV and Club Penguin

NormaSknockers · 02/02/2010 14:09

Helloooooooooooooooo!!

Just popping quickly (how excited am I to see that MNHQ have created a face after me asking!!!!!!) to let you know it's all good news I've updated the other thread, not long been home & DS has just thrown up everywhere so he's sitting in the bath whilst I'msat next to him MNing

Alicetheinvisible · 02/02/2010 14:09

I have been sick once (projectile - nice) but felt ok after about half an hour so i had a piece of bread, a couple of mouthfuls of tea and a spoonful of yoghurt. Now in bed and feel 'green'

Tbh, no point seeing Dr or MW as nothing they can do, DH is a vet so as good as anything I have been in the 2 worst places this weekend for catching bugs - kids party and a grotty hospital. Not bloody surprising i'm ill!

Alicetheinvisible · 02/02/2010 14:10

Yay! Norma Posted on your FB wall too.

Lizzylou · 02/02/2010 14:10

Norma!
Yay!
That wiery hippy Shiney was right

So pleased and hope DS's vom hasn't put you off your maltesers.....

NormaSknockers · 02/02/2010 14:12

I haven't broken into my maltesers yet, will wait til the DC are in bed so that I don't have to share

I'm still stupidly excited about getting the smiley!

OP posts:
FlamingoBingo · 02/02/2010 14:12

Haha Lizzy - I recognise that feeling a lot! How old are yours?

Norma! Hooray! Off to have a look on FB - where's your other thread? But sorry your DS is sick

NormaSknockers · 02/02/2010 14:14

NormaSknockers · 02/02/2010 14:16

Flam they will be 4 and 6 next month, 2 boisterous and rowdy boys.
Who wind each other up, then me.

Mind you, last night was fun, have found some websites (that NASA one is fab and also National Geographic that Fanny recommended, thanks) so will have a little go tonight as well.

We are 11+ into excellent Grammar school here, am hothousing

Not really, just trying to feel less like a crap Mom.

FlamingoBingo · 02/02/2010 14:26

Just a teeny bit younger than my oldest two, Lizzy.

Bit miffed as our bread is so damn yummy I keep going back for more .

Would they appreciate one of those solar system kits, do you think? Or could you make a load of planets with card and stick them onto your wall?

Make them a rocket with big cardboard boxes.

wastingaway · 02/02/2010 14:27

Hurrah! Brilliant news Norma. Have an from me.

I've had beans on toast + poached eggs from the lovely poachpods I treated myself to yesterday.

Lizzylou · 02/02/2010 14:30

I have been looking for some solar system kits, we have about 15 rocket/guns assorted junk modelling that DS2 brings back from preschool, please don't make me make more........
We haven't the space, I dump one or two in the recycling and hope he doesn't notice

FlamingoBingo · 02/02/2010 14:33

Our giant cardboard box creations get dumped after 3 days of getting in my way being played with - just something to entertain them for an afternoon.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 02/02/2010 14:42

Can't find your thread Norma, but sounding good. I am so pleased and thought of you all morning.
I don't think I have you on FB...what are your initials?
Can I have as my MN name?

I want an 'annoyed' one as well. Not but when something has miffed you somewhat. Sort of like the envy face but a different colour.

Alice...that sounds awful, take care.

I have just watched the Hannah Montannah movie with DD. I want Billy Ray Cyrus to be my Dad. I had a few weepy moments. Do you think they are like that in RL? Their on screen relationship is lovely.

.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 02/02/2010 14:44

Or are you K. A. ?

TrillianAstra · 02/02/2010 15:01

Happy Birthday Jaq, and so glad it's good news Norma!

Poor Alice, sounds absolutely horrible, can your DH come home to look after you both?

NormaSknockers · 02/02/2010 15:30

Mitts yes that's me, my profile pic is currently the lushious Liv tyler

Alice can DH get home earlier to look after you?

DS seems to have some colour back to him & is happily watching The Gruffalo - I do love him when he's in his sleepsuits still looks like my little baby

I really must stop weighing myself every single few days as it just stresses me out - must have more restraint & weigh only on weigh days!

OP posts:
FlamingoBingo · 02/02/2010 15:35

Ok girls, I'm having a shite day. I'm surviving, but just kind of desperately treading water, really, to stay afloat.

Dh is meant to be going straight to a work do that's been paid for them by something or other and won't be home til very late. He's not one for 'work dos' but I always think it's good to show up to look like a team-player. Having said that, he's not in a line of work that puts much emphasis on team work.

Anyway, he went to one last week on Wednesday, which was his day off, so he'd been around all day.

Today we haven't been out - I haven't had the strength to get out. We've done stuff, but also watched a lot of tv and films. I want it to be either the time DH comes home or bedtime - whenever I get to go off duty! He usually gets in at about 6.45pm, but not til 10.30pm tonight.

So, shall I ask him to come home without going to the meal? I know he will if I ask. He's only going because he and I think it looks good to go to these things.

NormaSknockers · 02/02/2010 15:39

If you're having a shit day & he doesn't really need to go & he doesn't particulary want to go then yes I would ask him to come home, no harm in asking.
