'flipping' organs!!

chelseamorning · 01/01/2010 19:29

Now you're probably thinking I'm off my rocker here but bear with me!

My DS is 3. Since I gave birth, I sometimes get a weird sensation in my chest/stomach which when I bend right over. The only way to describe it is that it feels like an organ or something is 'flipping'. It takes my breath away and I have to stand up carefully. Then I feel it 'flip' back into place. Usually there are no other after effects. Sometimes it leaves me a tiny bit tender in the area for a day or so.

Please, is there anyone else who has this sensation???!!!

This is an old dead thread, but as it's popped up again I can now add what turned out to be my answer in the hope it might be someone else's too.

Mine turned out to be caused by a gut infection called Heliobacter Pylori, this had caused gastritis, so my intestines were inflamed & literally catching on my ribs if I moved badly. Not sure if it's relevant, but I also have an extra rib.

Triple antibiotic therapy finally shifted the infection & after a few weeks for the swelling to go down, this weird rib catching on intestines thing went. I can even bend again

LisieDee · 27/02/2018 02:30

Reviving this thread once again. I have been searching for an answer to this malady and am very relieved to know that I'm not alone!
Mine started after major abdominal surgery....so I figured it was related.

I have been telling my husband all along that the doctor clearly didn't put something back right! Mine is right side...happens when I bend over and is really painful. I have to physically push it back into place and then I'm sore for days afterwards.
After ultra-sounds and no results, I thought I was going crazy!

Tashnlily · 28/02/2018 11:29

I have experienced a similar thing although it is not under my ribs but instead feels like my bowel on the left side twists. I then have to stretch out and stay still as I feel it slide back into place. Anyone had that? It also happens to me particularly when putting on socks or tying up shoes.

Rich9800 · 10/05/2018 17:39

I just joined today I thought I was the crazy one,! found out there are other people like me. I have gone to the doctor and told her I am going back on Tuesday.up in under the left rib cage ,when I reach down tshoes something rolls, It catches my breath and I have to stand up real quick it scares me. The doctor didn’t know what to say to me so I’m going back Tuesday thank you everyone posted God bless you.

YummyMummyToOne · 28/07/2018 23:22

Omg ! I get these exact symptoms. Mentioned it to my gp before and just got fobbed off . It’s becoming more regular and it really worries me . Pain in left side when bending or sitting up from a lying down position. Feels like something gets caught and I get really bad cramp then it pops back in and I’m fine again . Really gutted that after all these years no one seems to have any answers

RockinHippy · 11/08/2018 02:05

You're definitely not mad !!

I've had this for years too. Took me a long time to find answers, but mine turned out to be caused by Heliobacter Pylori infection, which caused inflammation in my stomach etc. I also have an extra rib, the swollen guts & that together means it catches when I bend certain ways. It has a weird bubble feeling sometimes too. I had treatment for the H.Pylori & it went for a long time, though creeping back again a bit recently. If you are a neg blood type, I read somewhere that the extra rib & vertebrae are common with neg blood groups.

RockinHippy · 11/08/2018 02:07

😩zombie thread & I've already commented at least twice 😂

Stumbled upon this thread while searching for the symptoms I have- when I try to explain them to my husband he looks at me like I’m crazy. It happens when I bend over - to tie shoes or pick something up off of the floor, that type of movement. Feels just like an internal organ has “flipped” over the wrong way - pain is sharp, and I straighten up and stretch to alleviate and it feels as though it “twists” back into place!! Happens most often on the left side up high near rib cage - but can occur lower or on the right. Always a bit sore for a day or so afterward. It’s happened off and on to me for years, so infrequent that I forget to mention it at doctors visits. But it seems to be happening a bit more frequently lately- MAYBE once or twice a month at the most? I’m 56, with two grown children. After reading these comments , at least I know it’s not that bizarre and I’m not crazy. Some of the posts about weight hit home. I’ve been up and down all my life, and am currently at the “high” end , about 25 lbs overweight. Motivates me to lose it and see if it cuts back or stops.

QuilliamCakespeare · 10/09/2018 09:55

I still get this now and again. It's very odd!

eawills87 · 12/09/2018 06:21

I've been having this problem for a few years! I have 2 kids, both natural births. When I bend over a certain way it feels like a charlie horse under my right rib. I feel the cramp (organ? muscle?) like I would a leg cramp. Last one was 2 days ago and it was the worst one yet. I'm still tender in that area, almost feels bruised or like I did ab exercises.

Hello all, I came across this looking for tothera with these symptoms. I did an awful and forceful stretch (the wrong way) and suddenly I felt a rush of heat, pain, dizziness and then it all began. What I thought was a broken rib, or something poking into my organs was something most doctors miss but I got answers!

I had the same symptoms. Side pain, back and musculoskeletal pain and clicking, pressure on lower organs and feeling like they are moving around, random nerve pains, feeling of fluid moving around, like organs getting caught on or under my left ribs, trapping gas, heart palpitations and labored breathing, not getting full breathes, lack of appetite.

After seeing a musculoskeletal specialist we ruled out all upper body and rib problems with an MRI, CT and several sonograms.
Went to my CHRIOPRACTOR who is also a CLINICAL NUTRITIONIST realizes it originated in the PSOAS MUSCLE. This muscle is responsible for holding your upper body (ribs cages etc) and connecting with with your lower (pelvis and ribs). It can throw your whole body of skeletal Lu in addition to cramping on your organs as this muscle acts as a shelf for your lower organs. It also controls your diaphragm breathing creates labored breath and other symptoms, and most important is responsible for regulated the fight or flight response in your body. a tightened, torn or stretched psoas muscle can cause all this. It even affects your jaw and eyes as it pulls down your pelvis and then middle and then your neck and jaw, can even cause dental issues. The psoas also is responsible for regulating circulation and spinal fluid movement.

Go to a Chiro or orthopedic sports rehab specialist and mention the psoas muscle.
My Chiro dug in and pushes in my injured psoas to work it out. I screamed and then half of my pain was gone. After doing the right stretches for 24 hours my pain is further reduced.

hydraulic pumping system stimulating all circulatory systems, a psoatic shelf supporting organs and viscera and it is part of the fear reflex system preparing one to flee or fight. Sitting for long periods of time with a constricted psoas muscle depletes vital energy, curtails blood circulation, affects organ functioning and signals flee/fight reflex thus draining the adrenals and immune system. It’s health and suppleness affects every level of well being.

I believe this is the answer to a majority of this threads issues. Hope it helps!

Host flashing and burning snensations, intolerance to cold. All symptoms I could worst my body in and out of place, get relief and then it would come right back. Chest tightness feeling like I could pop my rib cage in and out of place to create temp relief and then pain and pressure again.

After seeing a musculoskeletal specialist we ruled out all upper body and rib problems with an MRI, CT and several sonograms.

I get the spasm on my right side started after I had my gallbladder removed. I have fibromyalgia and probably a hiatus hernia.Spasms are horrible.

maeglee · 24/10/2018 04:18

I have the exact same thing as all of you have mentioned, same crazy symptoms and they are definitely worse when I gain weight. I'm curious if any of you ever received a diagnosis. I have had this for years and would love to have an answer for it!

Netty35 · 28/10/2018 08:41

Thank you all!! I have had this on and off for the past few since . I have two children 7 and 3 years . First birth emergency C second birth natural.

Again I get it when bending over to do shoes, sitting up from laying down.

I had it last night and googled the symptoms and found this post.

Interestingly last night we had been to watch fireworks, it was freezing cold and raining, I had tight skinny jeans on with a belt, they were digging in the whole night and my stomach was getting more and more bloated. ( I am about 6lbs overweight)

I’m wondering if it has something to do with tight clothes and the muscles that are constricted along with being a few pounds over weight?

I have the exact same symptoms , flipping feeling left hand side under the ribs.

Cannot believe we have all had this and got no answers, I’m tempted to make a doctor read this thread!!

Glad I’m not alone x

Updates:
After a lot of doctors, naturopaths etc I started eating a purely low food map diet and taking in a lot of anti inflammatories (tumeric etc) and nutrient IVs which seemed to minimize symptoms over the course of the last month. Theory is that if IVs help it may be something causing systemic inflammation. Symptoms are still there just not as severe so I am still digging.

As of now I am looking into the following:
-scleroderma or other connective tissue issues that could affect the body’s muscles
-scar tissue
-things that affect the central nervous system enabling us to feel our insides like this such as Epstein Barr and lymes
-taking my breast implants out as they may be contributing to symptoms.

Just joined to connect about this. I am retired and have been getting this weird pain that I described as feeling like someone is wring out my innards like a wet dish rag. I started to get after I had a mastectomy ten years ago. Same as you all, while bending down, getting up from sitting and last night while getting into bed. It was so Sharp I jumped out of bed, raised my right arm and stretched myself out. I noticed it goes away faster if I take shallow breaths as to relax. I do have a hostel hernia after getting tested about 30 years ago..Yes I am that retired. Wink. Like someone else posted it happens so infrequently that I forget to tell my doctor. I was concerned at first since as some say, it felt like my organs were flipping around. But now it's just irritating and like now, a little tender after it occurs. It has been more frequent this past few weeks which how I found you all. I thought because I like to garden and dug up and moved a 5 foot lilac bush myself. I hope someone finds the answers. The best one was just weeks ago about a muscle that holds everything in place. Since my surgeon said she combed through everything looking for more cancer before closing..I always thought she pulled too hard on something since it began after the surgery. It's a mystery though but I feel relieved to know it's not just me.

Hello survivor10. My symptoms started super mild after a breast implant replacement and capsule repair surgery. Then I had a minor injury and I went down hill since. I think we might me onto something with the muscles and connective tissues in the chest, mid section of our body.

I’m working with a neuromuscular osteopath right now and a functional medicine DO for the internal stuff. Hope to have positive updates.

DadwhosalsoaMum · 29/10/2018 11:15

giving this one mouth to mouth because i’ve been googling the crap out of these symptoms and you guys (girls) are the only ones who are describing the exact same thing! first off, to throw a spanner in the works, i’m a dad. so i haven’t given birth, and i race mountainbikes, so i’m pretty fit and not overweight at all. but i get the exact same thing you ladies are talking about. whenever i put on shoes or socks, if i’m not really careful about how i bend down (or lift my feet up) i get like a sudden almost twisting feeling just under my left rib, that is really painful. only.. 2 days ago it happened, and stayed “twisted” for about 5 minutes and a large lump appeared there. i really had to breath through it, and gently massage the lump until went away. it’s continued to be sore since, but just annoying sore more than anything. except when i lift something heavy.. then it hurts more. even as i lay here getting my 2y/o girl to sleep, i can feel like a ticking there in tune with my pulse. as i said, no childbirth here, but i did hit the ground pretty hard about 9 months ago, fracturing a couple of vertibrae in my lower spine. i remember being in all sorts of pain around the same area as this lump, sweating and carrying on, but they found nothing there. will keep you all posted if i get some answers..

DadwhosalsoaMum · 29/10/2018 11:17

oh wow.. i didn’t realise this was even still active. not breathing any life into it afterall lol

Ln618618 · 29/10/2018 12:26

I’m now insisting on liking into a diaphragmatic hernia . Look it up

Has anyone come up with a diagnosis for this problem? I am 53 years old and have had this a few times. The last time was just a week ago and it has left me sore and I get little sharp pains below left breast when I move certain ways. Last time, I was bending over in shower and pain started. I swear it felt like a baby rolling over in left upper side of my body. Now that side is tender and my chest is hurting. This is the only place that seems to have my same symptoms! Any help would be awesome!
