Welcome to our 36th healthy eating thread, where we will renew any healthy eating resolutions with all the viguor that the Christmas munchies require...

We chat, keep each other on track, and monitor our goals together- some on the thread have lost shed loads of weight, some are running ridiculous distances. Some, of course (like myself and Shiney, our dubious leader) have been a bit, er, remiss really. But that can all change with a New Year!

Come and introduce yourself, old and new, and let's get Mumsnet's famous Shiney Healthy Eating Thread kicked off for 2010...

I think bb will be pleased if there are a few more no s ers about he tried to find out how many people were doing the diet but i dont think there were many.

I like it because it is a more normal approach although i am tempted by 2 weeks of south beach as i have done that before and i know it knocks the sugar cravings on the head really well. Just cant be arse to be fair. No s is less effort.

Georgimama · 01/01/2010 11:41

Right, I'll catch up with you lot later, we're off for a tramp about the woods and a picnic.

As of tomorrow, no booze for me, and no caffeine after 4pm. It's the crazy sugar swings in response to caffeine and alcohol that ruin everything for me, that and the fact I am a greedy pig.

awastingamanger · 01/01/2010 11:45

Definitely.

There is a very young-looking gentleman sitting next to me atm.
DH used his new moustache-trimming scissors for the first time and overdid it so is clean-shaven for the first time since June.

TinselianAstra · 01/01/2010 11:49

Morning. Head hurts.

DidEinsteinsMum · 01/01/2010 11:50

is it a improvement wasting?

How the hell can you hide a thread when the hide button doesnt work?

hellsbelles · 01/01/2010 12:00

oh - reality I was planning starting smoking again - well I'm already giving up booze for 2 weeks so I'll join you in your abstinence

DidEinsteinsMum · 01/01/2010 12:00

Was an alright night. I've had better, but NYE is often a bit meh.

I'm not giving up drink entirely, don't want to. Might cut down a little bit though.

Hello Trills

Has dp got anything lined up work wise in the new year?

Lizzy and Georgi, I hope you are having a lovely trek around the seaside and woods.

Just had a lovely goats cheese and beetroot salad - could have eaten more though . I have got an awful headache but I suspect it is because I have had only one coffee this morning.

Am feeling less stressed now. Tree has been put away, living room tidied, hoovered and polished. DS2 has hoovered the stairs and I just need to mop the kitchen floor.

bellavita · 01/01/2010 12:46

Shiney - me neither

awastingamanger · 01/01/2010 13:00

DEM, not really. He looks too young for me.
He says his lip is all cold, so I might knit him up a moustache-shaped top-lip warmer.

Reality, I too would join you, but I gave up smoking years ago and am planning to drink slightly more.

Salad sounds yummy Bella.

I'm making tuna pasta bake, but I've sent DH and DS out for supplies. Hope their lips don't get too cold.

jinglejet · 01/01/2010 13:42

i dont think i need to comment on my sex life at the moment - i think i have said enough already Here's hoping this is the year of new bloke or two

I hope everyone had a lovely night, and at the moustache warmer!

jaquelinehydeThePresents · 01/01/2010 13:57

Afternoon everyone. DP let me lie in today, so I didn't surface until 12:15

Well bloody January 1st, here it is. My Mum rang earlier to wish my household a healthy, wealthy, and prosperous (sp) 2010. She then said but it's the healthy that really counts, without that what's the point of the rest! Never a truer word spoken.

Shine we must have given up smoking at the same time. 4 years smoke free for me as of today! It was the last New Years resolution I made and I stuck to it.

So I am making a resolution this year and again will stick to it. I will lose weight, and become healthier during 2010. No matter what happens, I shall keep plodding on. No giving up, no giving in.

Happy New year, lets make it a healthy one.

hellsbelles · 01/01/2010 14:12

happy new year jaq - very jealous of the lie in. I cannot remember the last time I had a lie in like that (well actually it must have been about 7 years ago pre DS!)

Feeling headachy already from lack of coffee. What a wuss! Got to go out later so I stop thinking about biscuits

DidEinsteinsMum · 01/01/2010 15:04

Must admit jaq- the only resolution i have made that i have ever stuck to is not to start the resolution before the 1st monday after NY's day. IMO it allows the trauma and suffering from NYE to have been recovered from enough to have a chance to stick to the resolution. It means that it gives my resolutions 1-2mths before they are forgotten and ignored.

at the top lip warmer, but definetly not too young for you, you're only 21 right

SazzlesOnASled · 01/01/2010 15:12

Afternoon . Happy New YEar and Happy New decade to all you lovely laydees (and BB

FAR too much wine and cheese consumed yesterday, but it was all truly delicious and wonderful company

Have been for an hours walk this morning pushing the double buggy uphill, so 3 sessions of exercise logged this week. I may try and do something tomorrow to make the 4 and get 2010 off to a good start exercise wise.

Welcome to newbies and hope you can all get some wonderful support from this bunch of nutters dieters

I am aiming to lose another 1/2 stone and then go onto the maintain train. I do however need some suggestions as to how to cut and paste some of my fat onto my arse as it seems to have disappeared into a flat wobbly thing . Answers on a postcard please........

Reality - hope you get your 'stalker' sorted out. All sounds very odd and hopefully she will just get bored making a tit out of herself

DidEinsteinsMum · 01/01/2010 15:25

ice skating builds butt muscles and makes it pert it thats any help

SazzlesOnASled · 01/01/2010 15:36

Thanks DEM, our drive ice rink would have been perfect for that last week, but is now back to gravel (not so good). Would rollerblading do the same thing? I have a pair in the cupboard from when i was living in Australia, but they have not seen the light of day here. Maybe time to dust them off

bellavita · 01/01/2010 15:51

Blimey the snow is coming down thick and fast - tis laying very quickly . We have literally just got rid of all ice! I hate this bloody weather
