Welcome to our 36th healthy eating thread, where we will renew any healthy eating resolutions with all the viguor that the Christmas munchies require...

We chat, keep each other on track, and monitor our goals together- some on the thread have lost shed loads of weight, some are running ridiculous distances. Some, of course (like myself and Shiney, our dubious leader) have been a bit, er, remiss really. But that can all change with a New Year!

Come and introduce yourself, old and new, and let's get Mumsnet's famous Shiney Healthy Eating Thread kicked off for 2010...

OP posts:
DidEinsteinsMum · 01/01/2010 15:58

Yep as it is a similar action of movement. I wanted to get some that fitted properally but couldnt justify it after my old ones turned up might have to see if they can be ebayed or something and replace them anyway. Forgotten about that so cheers for the reminder!

Georgimama · 01/01/2010 16:03

Brrrrr cold out there! Only lasted an hour and a bit tramping about as DS was whinging and doing my head in a bit tired. Since we got back I have been on a mission - I know this isn't a "fly" thread (shudder) but I have:

  1. taken down all decs and put away
  2. dusted and polished all wooden furniture
  3. hoovered throughout
  4. recovered the chair on which I am sitting in plain cream calico, as I decided I didn't like the fabric I had put on it (not as impressive as it sounds, is a chippendale style carver chair with a drop in seat, a simple matter of a staple gun and pritt stick)
  5. cleared the ashes out of the fireplace

Phew. I need a drink now. I don't though, do I?

SazzlesOnASled · 01/01/2010 16:04

No worries. You could always go skiing over at Bella's . I know too that i would be peed off with too much snow but we have had none since the week before Xmas. Would be lovely, just for a day tomorrow

DidEinsteinsMum · 01/01/2010 16:15

careful georgimama - there a a few flyers on this thread too. But am impressed with your list. Makes this flyer look very lazy. as mine is no where near that good today.

Georgimama · 01/01/2010 16:18

Oh it's not the ladies themselves, it's the effort involved. I just can't be arsed with a shiny sink. Good on them!

DidEinsteinsMum · 01/01/2010 16:22

pst this sink dont shine most the time either. I do the rest of the principles and ignore theshiney sink I like the 15min timer thing. Its amazing how much you get done in 15 mins. Especially as it is compulsory to sit down with a cuppa for 15mins every hour Best bit that especially with a

Georgimama · 01/01/2010 16:24

Compulsory to sit down for 15 minutes every hour you say?

Perhaps there is some mileage in this after all....

bellavita · 01/01/2010 16:26

Really Sazz - none since the week before xmas . It is still falling thick and fast..

Georgi - tis a nice feeling though isn't it when you get through loads of stuff like that. We took all our things down this morning and I cleaned the whole of the downstairs. Will be doing upstairs tomorrow.

I have sat on my backside all afternoon watching australian custom programmes - they really fascinate me .

SazzlesOnASled · 01/01/2010 16:30

No . But the cars are completely iced outside, so we definitely are sub zero, just without the prettiness

I am off to wake DH and go for a hot bath

DidEinsteinsMum · 01/01/2010 16:38

Georgimama - i like it becuase its about little and often rather then a big hit and ignore. And I find that simple things like putting clothes out the night before make the whole difference to me. It is mostly common sense and some people do it naturally but i am not very good at routine so find it keeps me on track, although i do most of the bits and bobs anyway. If you are intrested find the fledglings thread as it is less full on then the flyers, we are not qute so full on. else can give you a link to look at. Do however spend most of my life over here. everyone knows this is the cool kids thread

We had no ice and no snow here - although the remainds of the snow reindeer are still on the front lawn. Am glad tbh. Cant be bother with more reasons to procrastinate. Needto get something done today.

bellavita · 01/01/2010 16:39

We were supposed to be going out to Pizza Express tonight, but because of the weather, we are not going.

There is enough left over curry from last night for the boys and DH to have and I will have a jacket potato with tuna and salad.

Where is BofF today?

Lizzylou · 01/01/2010 16:48

Back from seaside and watching Wizard of Oz in the warm now.
Was far warmer at the seaside than here (we are in the pennines practically), lovely and bright and fresh. Walked/ran/climbed dunes so must have done me some good.

Sooo much dog shit though, really awful.

bellavita · 01/01/2010 16:50

Which seaside Lizzy?

Well, only one way to find out Shiney

jinglejet · 01/01/2010 16:56

go on shiney - i dare you

Georgimama · 01/01/2010 16:56

I will have a nose. Laying clothes out the night before, for example, is something I should do because we share a car and getting both of us to work and DS to CM on time can be a palavar, particularly when I waste 30 minutes along the lines of, what shall I wear/find what I decide/need hold in pants/opaque tights/something else I can't find/wear trousers instead/crap they aren't ironed etc etc.

We are having our roast beef tonight. I am making tuna pasta bake as well which DS will have now (we'll eat after he's in bed) and we'll eat that tomorrow for dinner.

hellsbelles · 01/01/2010 16:58

georgimama ... I like lists like that - just never manage to do them myself

Had a long walk but not quite at Sazz level yet! Lizzy your afternoon sounds lovely (apart from shit obviously!)

Bored of no cups of tea. So had a decaff black coffee. And some nuts. And a mini baby Bel - Yum - bet you are all jealous . But I'm really looking forward to a big steak tonight.

DS is a lucky little monkey - he can finish off the chocolate bombe thingy from waitrose that DH & I couldn't quite polish off last night (despite valiant efforts - DH looks as if he is 6 months pregnant)

Lizzylou · 01/01/2010 16:58

Lytham/St Annes, Bella.
Was nice, some lovely houses for sale, at some lovely prices!

I thought you were Lancs based Lizzy

Shiney, I do know what you mean about it taking as long to write the list as it is to do the actual chores.

Lizzylou · 01/01/2010 17:02

Hells can you have smoked salmon on South Beach?
I'm sort of winging it at the moment as I haven't had my book delivered yet. I know you can have olives, cooked lean meat, fresh fish,no fruit and lots of eggs, will be purchasing steak (yum.
I have trout with tenderstem brocolli and asparagus.
Boys and DH have been munching on selection box choccies at various stages today. I was very good and refrained.

Georgimama · 01/01/2010 17:07

Is South Beach like an Atkins lite? I am definitely going to try to reduce carbs but I don't have the strength of will for full on Atkins. In any case I am already fat and hairy, I don't need bad breath as well.

DidEinsteinsMum · 01/01/2010 17:13

I think that i have the benefit of touch typing as it takes bout 2 mins to type very longs lists but more like 30mins to do the stuff. not everyone posts the lists, and when people do its cos it helps they stay on track.
Shiney it depends which thread you post it on.

Lizzylou · 01/01/2010 17:13

Georgi.
I think that it is, like Atkins but maybe a little easier to stick to.
I know you can eat low fat cheese, olives and lean meat/fish, so that part way makes up for no wine (sort of).
I am waiting for the book to arrive, they only tell you so much on the website.
