Welcome to our 36th healthy eating thread, where we will renew any healthy eating resolutions with all the viguor that the Christmas munchies require...

We chat, keep each other on track, and monitor our goals together- some on the thread have lost shed loads of weight, some are running ridiculous distances. Some, of course (like myself and Shiney, our dubious leader) have been a bit, er, remiss really. But that can all change with a New Year!

Come and introduce yourself, old and new, and let's get Mumsnet's famous Shiney Healthy Eating Thread kicked off for 2010...

Awww Yank, that's no fun! Was it like a geyser coming out of the floor?

We had a leak in our upstairs a while ago, which we only found out about due to having the downstairs bathroom re-done. I dread to think what would've happened if we'd left it!

Right, uni work time...

Alicetheinvisible · 05/01/2010 13:07

Afternoon ladies

Hope everyone is well.

Cold here but only a little bit of snow so far.

Bad morning, bad mood, will be back later (possibly after some chocolate)

bellavita · 05/01/2010 13:16

Snowing like mad here.. took DH ages and ages to get to work and he said for me to go into work today and then I get a phonecall from work to say my colleague is sick and can I go in earlier....

awastingamanger · 05/01/2010 13:26

DH got back ok. And nicked the laptop! :-D
Don't think he'll be going Sheff this evening either.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 05/01/2010 13:50

Woo hoo, work surfaces finally turing up tomorrow.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 05/01/2010 14:05

Oodles of snow here, I went for a run in it before work. WOW. FAB. ACE!!

The DC's are off school. But I am pretending they are not here.

Phase....veggie based soups are a god send. And most supermarkets have the fresh ones if you don't have time to make them. They are very filling and not only add to your 5 portions a day, but are low cal as well.

Yank...how very crap for you. Esp with a little one.

OK..... so I feel better but am AFing once a fortnight, (did I mention that bit?) At this rate I might not be losing weight but will disappear through blood loss. However, I am still doing everything at high speed so nowt wrong with my mojo still .

Dunno about the facial Reality, but it is possible that your body will react to the changes in your diet before settling down into the new regime. Hope it doesn't last too long for you.

Right, I am being summoned by bossy britches DD

Alicetheinvisible · 05/01/2010 14:12

Someone please give me a kick up the bum, i have to go for a blood test and it is too cold to go out Want to stay in and drink hot chocolate

TrillianAstra · 05/01/2010 14:21

WHy do you need a blood test Alice? Is this a routine pregnancy thing?

Go to the Dr, look after your baby

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 05/01/2010 14:23

and runs....

MitsubishiWarrioress · 05/01/2010 14:38

Alice, go for your Blood test and then you can really enjoy your hot chocolate... and we won't have to worry about you not having been when you should have (even bigger guilt trip).

bellavita · 05/01/2010 14:43

I have just had a txt from DC2's primary school - they are closed tomorrow, so I have just had to tell work that I won't be in - oh joy. My job share person is poorly too!

MyCatIsABiggerBastardThanYours · 05/01/2010 14:48

Well, that was an eventful journey too and from the nursery (DS loves it - thank god. V happy talking to everyone and playing with all the toys). I dropped DS off and htought I'd do some kid free shopping. Went into the shop - roads clear. Came out of the shop - roads 2 inches in snow and cars sliding everywhere.

Thought I#'d get the kids at 2pm - nursery up a hill. Got on the road, all fine, then every bloody 'ooh, look icey roads, think I'll ram the brakes on' fool was in front or behind me! Cars everywhere. GOt the kids and am now home wondering whether the snow is deep enough to build a snowman with yet!

Yank- I'm glad the plumber turned up, hope it all sorts out soon.

Alice - Kick

BitOfFun · 05/01/2010 15:06

Schools off tomorrow

Mitts how the hell did you go fro a run in this earlier? we've got almsot 30cm of snow now. No chance of getting a car out if you wanted and the radio is stating that unless it is life threatening they will not send out medical people. where the hell are all the snow ploughs.

LollipopViolet · 05/01/2010 15:11

Gah, am off to the local pub quiz with mates later. I really, really fancy having a drink, but don't know if a) my stomach will cope with alcohol yet and b) what does one drink if one wishes to be healthy?

I'm thinking rose or white wine...but can drink several in a night....pint of Strongbow would last all night, but then the calories...

I might just end up drinking water...or diet Pepsi.

BitOfFun · 05/01/2010 15:14

I think you'll find the pub pretty quiet tbh. Still, you might win the quiz then

Lollipop if you're going for calories try www.foodfocus.co.uk - you can just use it to find out which of two options is more calorific if you don't fancy logging everything. Obviosuly if you're going for actual health benefits fruit juice is probably top of the list.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 05/01/2010 15:33

Oh, the snow was just good for running Chaos. Not slippy.

I am having Chicken, home-made parsnip and potato chips with roasted pepper, Broccoli
and cauli .

LollipopViolet · 05/01/2010 15:38

I've got to say, there's a lovely WW ready meal that I tried, sausages, with gravy, and veggie mash. I had it a few months back and it was lovely...shame I've not got one in tonight, we're having sausages...hmm George Foreman grill time methinks!

VinegarTits · 05/01/2010 15:50

I have been out and built a snowman, all that rolling of big balls was a workout in itself

VinegarTits · 05/01/2010 15:51

I have uploaded a pic of my effort

SqueezyIsStartinAResolution · 05/01/2010 16:01

Aw, that snowman is gorgeous!

VinegarTits · 05/01/2010 16:07

BitOfFun · 05/01/2010 16:25
