Welcome to our 36th healthy eating thread, where we will renew any healthy eating resolutions with all the viguor that the Christmas munchies require...

We chat, keep each other on track, and monitor our goals together- some on the thread have lost shed loads of weight, some are running ridiculous distances. Some, of course (like myself and Shiney, our dubious leader) have been a bit, er, remiss really. But that can all change with a New Year!

Come and introduce yourself, old and new, and let's get Mumsnet's famous Shiney Healthy Eating Thread kicked off for 2010...

They let me go early - so in effect I have worked my 5 hours. DS1's school is now closed tomorrow.

Sazz, they will really try and keep my school open - lots and lots of kids in walking distance and there are a lot of "troubled" kids who need keeping off the streets as many of the parents work so they need the support.

Lollipop - I like that ww meal too

Lovely snowman Vinny.

Wonder how Shiney has got on - she didn't e-mail me so she must have sailed through today.... (just like I knew she would) - it must have been those Brora wrist warmers

VinegarTits · 05/01/2010 16:35

some bastard has knocked him over

bellavita · 05/01/2010 16:37

Rotten buggers Vinny

SqueezyIsStartinAResolution · 05/01/2010 16:39

That's crap VT, I'm sure that happened to Mitts too recently, spent ages building it and some clown kicked it over.....grrrr!

VinegarTits · 05/01/2010 16:39

They were obviously jealous

traceybath · 05/01/2010 16:52

Well still now snow here but we're forecast up to 40cms tonight. So braved waitrose which was hideously busy and very little bread/milk left but I'm all stocked up now.

So if I'm not snowed in tomorrow will be a little disappointed .

Have lost the 2lbs I put on over xmas so just last bit left to lose now.

Vinegar - what meanies to do that to a snowman.

Oh and I ate a creme egg for lunch - healthy not but very delicious.

Five - hope HV was helpful. Am seeing mine next week to discuss DS2's lack of speech - he's 2 (just) and says about 20 words max and not all that clearly. Am thinking we'll end up paying to see a SALT as waiting lists crazy on nhs.

LollipopViolet · 05/01/2010 16:58

Yay! No greasy sausages for me! Have found a healthy eating ready meal in the freezer! I think it's a WW one, either that or Tesco's- spag bol.

Yum!

Then tonight think I'm going to be good for dessert. Me and my mates usually end up ordering something at the pub, and they have this, fresh berries and low fat yoghurt thing that I'm going to give a try if I'm hungry later.

Right now I'm sorting out pictures on deviantart Will link to some later!

Still no snow.

Good luck with HV next week. DD was a very slow speaker aswell. HV was OK didn;t tell us anything we didn't know so will crack on and hope for the best.

Bah Humbug Vinnie

MitsubishiWarrioress · 05/01/2010 17:43

Yeah...I built three all together and they were all kicked down. The last two had groovy hairstyles as well.

DD was slow to speak and on advice of a family member who is a speech therapist took her to a ST. On the basis that if there was a problem, the earlier she got help the better. DD gets very self conscious at times although is much better now. Like many people say, it is getting her to shush that is the problem now...I don't know where she gets it from

I don't envy people who need to drive in the snow, but I flipping love it. I am walking to K boxing to get out in it for a bit.

Does anyone know about PMS symptoms if you are apparently going through the pre menopause bit?(Ok, Ok, I am OLD so some of you young things could ask your Mums for me )

I am permnantly due on or AFing at the moment so am in pain, swollen tummy, tender breasts, backache. I am going to get to the Docs when the snow goes and DC's are definitely at school, and could do a thread in the menopause section, but that just feels so ......wrong. This isn't a complaint, I just want to know, but will life just be a long continuous string of pre, during and post period issues.... When will my weight be 'normal' as I am filling up with fluid and losing it like one of those japanese water features at the moment?
Oh and my Boobs are swollen..is this normal? I mean it's fun but...WTF?

I am defo not pregnant BTW. What's happening to my body waaaahhhhhhh!!!

OK. 1..... 2...... 3..... 5............................9.....10...

SqueezyIsStartinAResolution · 05/01/2010 17:47

There's about a foot of snow here and DH just checked the temp from the car, it's minus 8......bbbrrrr! I doubt he is going to make work again tomorrow, he only managed to move the car about 2 inches just there. Severe weather warning still in place today and tomorrow, esp bad in the south

Gonna get my wii fit out now and do some hola hooping

YanknCock · 05/01/2010 19:07

Hey everyone!

Vinny, so sorry about your snowman. Why do some arseholes always have to ruin things?

My neighbours built a very large snowman and I contributed some coal for the eyes. For some reason the previous owners of our house thought it would make the plastic electric fire look more authentic if they put real coal pieces over the fake coal Was happy to donate it to a worthy cause!

Weather-wise, this is the most 'at home' I've felt in the 7 years since I moved here. It's interesting seeing what a bog standard snowfall (by Wisconsin standards) does to a place that doesn't have the infrastructure to cope with it.

Plumber fixed the pipe, but now we have to have a surveyor come and see what needs to be done to fix the ceiling in the kitchen and the floor in our upstairs toilet/hall. DH has been an absolute star cleaning up all the fallen plaster. Kitchen is cleaner than before!

NormaSknockers · 05/01/2010 19:09

Evening all

Just checking in hope everyone's well?

Day 2 of being back on the diet wagon & so far so good, have a good incentive this year to shift the weight so hoping that will help the motivation!

Vinny - tea sounds good can I come join you?

BitOfFun · 05/01/2010 19:17

Lizzylou · 05/01/2010 19:33

Hello all, after all that fretting, DH got home in normal time! Was gobsmacked when he knocked on the window as we were building a snowman. He said that there were no other cars on the roads
I may panic a bit too much

Tracey, DS1 barely spoke at all aged 2 years, he only really got fluent when he was being potty trained (2 yrs, 3 mths), all else OK and now he is same as others in his Yr1 class. I wouldn't worry, but then I sort of knew that DS1 was just being lazy iyswim, if I'd had DS2 first (he was speaking a lot v young) and then DS1, it may have been different. I do know that you have to get in the SALT referral queue sharpish though. Hope all goes well.

Mitts/Vinny, we had great fun making a snowman this afternoon, the snow in our back garden was up over DS1's wellies, so much of it!
It is lovely, I like playing in it, not driving/walking DS's to school, but I do need to get some work done so really hope it is open tomorrow. Mitts, I could ask my Mom but she had a hysterectomy when she was 39 yrs old so had a "strange" menopause, different to if she had her womb in tact (had no way of putting that properly!)

Glad you are stocked up, Shiney and that your day went well.

Mamazon · 05/01/2010 19:47

we've not got snow here yet, though its forecast for tonight.

tea tonight was pasta with tomato and roast peppers.
i did have to stop myself from lashing loads of cheese over the top of it.

think im burning thousands of calories per second just by shivvering, its so bloody cold.

MyCatIsABiggerBastardThanYours · 05/01/2010 19:48

DC in bed! Thank various deity's for that. If anyone can offer any tips for me on how to manage DD, please have a look at my thread here I'd be very grateful(I'll buy you all a drink, promise!)

Anyway, all in bed now and having a much needed beer.

Yank - my DH lived in Austria for several years teaching skiing (and other various wintry climes) and he just thinks we all soft for the panic (and he's from Glasgow so was brought up with tons of snow as well).

I'm looking forward to sledging tomorrow and building snowmen and throwing snowballs and generally being a big kid with my kids!
