Welcome to our 36th healthy eating thread, where we will renew any healthy eating resolutions with all the viguor that the Christmas munchies require...

We chat, keep each other on track, and monitor our goals together- some on the thread have lost shed loads of weight, some are running ridiculous distances. Some, of course (like myself and Shiney, our dubious leader) have been a bit, er, remiss really. But that can all change with a New Year!

Come and introduce yourself, old and new, and let's get Mumsnet's famous Shiney Healthy Eating Thread kicked off for 2010...

Sazzles - you were a fab hostess! DS loved his soup and playing with your DD's toys in particular. And I was very impressed with the individual cup coffee filter thingy too. Oh, and fab house in fab location. I'm moving in!

Hi Lollipop - just jump in and post away.

Just had lunch of er... brie and medlar jelly sandwich. Not exactly diet food but it was all that was in the fridge -MUST go shopping later.

awastingamanger · 04/01/2010 13:31

My god Mycat! that sounds like the bes sandwich in he world!

FlamingoCrimbo · 04/01/2010 13:32

Lizzy - yesterday went ok, thanks. Feel like I've done my duty now anyway!

Squeeze - I keep it for child bribery purposes

Wish DD4 would hurry up and go to sleep!

Alice, why do you need a heart check up? Sorry if that is too nosy..

Welcome to Lollipop

I have just ordered a Graze box as well, will mainly be for the boys and DH (unless I get some walnuts) as no fruit on South Beach (I think, my bloody book hasn't shown up yet).

Ham, tomato, watercress and Rocket salad for lunch with balsamic drizzled on the top. Was lovely, but hasn't really warmed me up and I have my school run trek through the bloody Arctic v soon........

awastingamanger · 04/01/2010 13:58

I can manage wihou t and y, (copee and paste as necessar) bu he square brackets kee has gone too, so I can't emote!

I looked a he Graze boxes before 2 but I'm on no snacks, is there enough in one for a greedee lunch?

Mamazon · 04/01/2010 14:05

Lizzylou · 04/01/2010 14:05

I'm not sure how much is in the boxes, never had them before, Wasting.
Free though, so worth a shot (If I remember to cancel, that is )

Just emote by doing an hmm or a grin or whatever, or we'll guess. You must be v frustrated, I'd have thought!

Lizzylou · 04/01/2010 14:06

There doesn't sound anything unhealthy in that Mamzon, I suppose it depends on portion size. Or if you put half a block of grated cheese on top, which is what I normally used to do

awastingamanger · 04/01/2010 14:07

Oh es. grin

Mamazon · 04/01/2010 14:09

Right off to next snow climb (and skiing descent.........)

awastingamanger · 04/01/2010 14:20

grin

LollipopViolet · 04/01/2010 14:22

Well, I'm hungry again. Not very, but I know I need to eat. Just need to avoid heavy foods as still have a little stomach ache.

Nowhere as bad as it was at 1.30 this morning though!

Hmm....goes off to nosy in cupboards and fridge for healthy things

bellavita · 04/01/2010 14:30

Hello (I am at school) - no kids though - tis a training day. I did not know that it was casual wear either, so am in business mode and everyone else in jeans...

I brought a ham sandwich for lunch and we had some sort of pension thing going on at 1.00 till 1.30 and they provided lunch for us - but I ignored it and all the gorgeous cakes and just ate what I brought.

Someone asked about all the chocs and stuff that were left - I have put the unopened boxes in the wardrobe for Easter. We have a small amount of xmas cake left, but DH will eat that, and there is a box of mince pies left and again, between DH and DS2 they will go. We don't have any crisps, what we did have were eaten. I am not a crisp person anyway, so would not eat them.

Result on DS2's school shoes - they were actually in the sale at £12 - usually we end up paying a bloody fortune >

Shiney - are you worrying about tomorrow?

Hello lollipop

LollipopViolet · 04/01/2010 14:32

Well, one cereal bar consumed. Unfortunately, it was a choc chip one, but still only 92 cals, and seeing as I've not eaten much today, it's not too bad.

We're having a homemade pie tonight, with mash and carrots, which I am going to try and eat. Will see how I feel. Really want to go to the gym tomorrow if I'm up for it, as should be going to the pub tomorrow night for weekly quiz night with mates

MyCatIsABiggerBastardThanYours · 04/01/2010 14:33

awasting - it was a lovely sandwhich (left over Brie from Xmas and mum's homemade medlar jelly from their tree). I suppose I could have had the ham sandwich with some tomato, but somehow the call of the brie and jelly was stronger... funny that!

Just watched the weather forecast - jeez it's getting cold around here. My heating bill is going to be HUUUGGE!

mamazon and awasting - the O key on my keyboard keeps popping off. still working but it's a pain the arse.

Right, i have just caught up on this mornings gossip and can happily say i agree with the diet/motivations for eating thing. My end of year revolation has meant that whilst i am not back on the diet route yet, i am being more careful in general.

The early night and the early start this morning has put me back into work mode which means i am picking less athough i am picking and i am still eating naughty things. but having decided to sort out the cause this week before tackling the diet aspect means that i am feeling positive. Although as ds thought it would be a good idea to sleep in my bed last night, and spent most of the night sleeping on top of me meant that the quality of sleep wasnt that great. On a plus note he had a dry nappy this morning so i might finally start to be able to wean him off his night nappies (not bothered until now as his cousin and dad were very late to be dry in night)

i am rambling again but i have just discovered i am teaching an activity to a year 1 class tomo afternoon and i have no idea what the science syllabus is for this age group, i have no idea of the ability of the class, the health and safety limiting factors and the duration for the activity. So feeling a bit nervous about it. Hopefully, it will all work itself out tomo morning and it'll be fine by the afternoon. Might sit on the tinternet later if i get the chance.

Welcome lollipop - hope you're feeling better.

bellavita · 04/01/2010 14:44

Shiney - you will remember how to do stuff. Tbh, I was much better the second week of being here when it was my shift (the first week I worked alongside my colleague all week and it was all too easy to turn around and ask her about something rather than trying to figure it out myself). Have faith in yourself

So, first thing you need to do is sort out your office supplies then tomorrow eh and get some nice stationery

LollipopViolet · 04/01/2010 14:44

Thanks for the welcome and well wishes everyone.

Shine, I've been on MN for a good while, but was pointed here by reading a thread on another board that said these threads are really good.

It's true, it's like a giant coffee shop in here- with all healthy things though
