Welcome to our 36th healthy eating thread, where we will renew any healthy eating resolutions with all the viguor that the Christmas munchies require...

We chat, keep each other on track, and monitor our goals together- some on the thread have lost shed loads of weight, some are running ridiculous distances. Some, of course (like myself and Shiney, our dubious leader) have been a bit, er, remiss really. But that can all change with a New Year!

Come and introduce yourself, old and new, and let's get Mumsnet's famous Shiney Healthy Eating Thread kicked off for 2010...

Back from our overnight adventure. DS was very cute in the pool. He seemed a bit unsure, didn't smile as much as normal, but didn't cry really either, even when I dunked him.

The hotel restaurant was closed, so after swimming we went to the bar, got a bottle of wine and just had bar food (mezze platter, cheeseburger, nachos, garlic bread). Then we had another bottle of wine. I think that's our last eating out for a while. DS fed while we were waiting and thankfully slept through most of it with the help of teething gel--definitely convinced now that he is properly teething.

We had a beef/onion pie for lunch and fryup for breakfast, but still within my points for today and reckon I'm losing calories from shivering! I should have weighed in today, but will do it tomorrow.

Still waiting for someone to come about the leak. Water and heat still off, but we have an fake fire electric heater in the lounge so have locked ourselves in with it. Thermometer in DS's room says it got down to 11 last night in there so am glad we didn't stay. I just wish we hadn't rushed back from the hotel! We could have had breakfast there instead of spending 45 minutes on the motorway in -7 temperatures!

Welcome new people, as everyone says, just jump in. I vaguely remember these threads starting, but didn't join in much at all due to being pregnant. I've only properly been around for the last few threads!

I am sure anyway between us on here (will you be able to log on in school hours) that we will be able to problem solve for you.

YanknCock · 04/01/2010 14:52

leftover chocs, we've got a box of cheap truffles someone gave us--going to throw them out. They're not nice enough to sabotage a diet for!

In fact, I'm going to do it right this minute so I don't find them when I have no self control (you may remember the truffle/vomiting incident of a few weeks ago).

I'm so excited, am seeing a friend who I haven't seen for over a year on Friday night. It's mad, we live 5 mins apart but we've both been crazy busy. I'm off to peruse the menu for the pub we're going to, need to try and be healthy!

When I get home, I will fb (not allowed fb at school) my school email address and then if you get stuck, you never know I just might be able to help..

LollipopViolet · 04/01/2010 15:02

Shine, I really can't remember, but it was over in the big/slim/whatever board. I'd also briefly like to praise the Hungry Horse pub chain. They might not have very many healthy options, BUT, they do list all their nutritional info on their website, which I never knew! Or is that the done thing for these chains now?

LollipopViolet · 04/01/2010 15:07

Oh, I've just recommended this thread on the other healthy eating/weightloss one I'm on too

YanknCock · 04/01/2010 15:08

Lollipop, a lot of chains are quite helpful like that now, really helps when trying to count calories/WW points.

Welcome Lollipop

Wasting - have been giggling at your typing efforts, very funny but you are doing well as it still makes sense (sort of ) need sticking out tongue emoticon.

Shiney - you will be fine tomorrow, it is natural to feel aprehensive about a career change, good luck

Hi DEM

Lizzy - i have to get heart checked because my lips keep turning blue randomly. I think it is an iron thing, but DR wants me to get checked out at the cardiac disease in pregnancy unit which is a tad frightening. Having blood tests this week which may give more of an idea.

Ooooh I like them Shiney, especially with a nice warm pair of gloves too! I just think it's a bit much to pay when I'm at uni.

I've got some seriously bright neon yellow fingerless gloves so what do I know about style? Got neon stripey pink, orange, green and yellow socks too

Mamazon · 04/01/2010 15:34

can i not just cut the end off a sock? [poor person emoticon]

bellavita · 04/01/2010 15:47

Erm, not sure I would Shiney at that price... then again DS2 paid £30 for a pair of Green Day fingerless gloves... I would want fingers in them for £35

FlamingoCrimbo · 04/01/2010 15:49

They do look nice, shiney but £32!!!???

I'll knit or crochet you a pair for a couple of quid!

Someone said ' sorry for not replying to individual posts but I'm too new' or something - don't hold back! Makes me feel great to have messages directed just to me
