[fgrn] at Trills!

Have you taken them out yet? Mmmm I love mince pies.

TinselianAstra · 19/12/2009 17:09

One lot is out, the next is in.

I am a baking machine!

Going to make some more cheese stars too...

For me reason I'm perfectly happy to go to someone else's house where there is nothing other than the promised mince pies and mulled wine on offer, but if I'm hosting I feel pressure and think I should produce a spread. WHich is stupid.

bellavita · 19/12/2009 17:14

Trills, I am exactly the same....

I need to make some more mince pies. I have marzipanned the christmas cake, just need to put the fondant over it and decorate it with the baubles I have made and painted (they are made of fondant) - they look quite good.

We are having pork and chestnut mushroom kebabs with fried rice tonight.

DidSantasMum · 19/12/2009 17:14

My Christmas shopping is done.

My food shopping has been delivered.

I had a 'Tarte au Citron' for lunch, and Traditional Apple pie for tea.

I am now detoxing .

FlamingoCrimbo · 19/12/2009 17:51

Alice - I love the tutorials on crafster - just have to get over them calling them 'tutes' on there

I'll definitely be making lots of bags this year - I just wish I could find out phone batter charger so I could put the photos of the ones I've made on here. And the cards I've made too.

FlamingoCrimbo · 19/12/2009 17:53

Mitts - you are lovely re. material. I'll send you a cheque or paypal for the postage - whatever is easiest.

bellavita · 19/12/2009 18:03

arf at detoxing Kissing

The pork and mushroom kebabs with fried rice were bloody gorgeous, not had them before. Came across the recipe in one of my many Good Food mags.

KissingUnderTheMittsletoe · 19/12/2009 18:05

OK. FB....is it OK just after Christmas?

DEM, I have gone into mode of getting in the Christmas spirit but there is a part of me that just wishes it was over.

I have the Shakira album, it is definately infectious and bum wiggling music.

bellavita · 19/12/2009 18:08

Has BofF gone to Reality's today? Where is Vinny and Shiney?

Trills, what are the mince pies like?

KissingUnderTheMittsletoe · 19/12/2009 18:12

Well, have any of you ever been in Drucker's Cafe? They are criminally fabulous, a tad expensive, but good lord, the cakes are divine!

Although someone tried to swipe my bags as I was texting but let go of them as I caught his eye and started to rise. I don't know what he would have done if his access to the door hadn't been blocked. He scuttled out of the shop before I gathered my thoughts, but was near the end of my shop and had done the DC's shopping so would have been devastated.

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 19/12/2009 18:15

Damn it was cold today! Days like today when having horses is very hard work.

Home now, have had crumpets and jaffa cakes and DH is cooking sausage and mash for dinner (with lots of broccoli) but in my defence if i'm not eating i feel sick. Feel like i've got a bump already but it is all carbs

DEM - i am really not feeling christmas this year. Just can't be arsed.

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 19/12/2009 18:16

Mitts cheeky fucker!

bellavita · 19/12/2009 18:19

That would have been awful for you had you not realised Kissing...

FlamingoCrimbo · 19/12/2009 18:22

Mitts - of course it's fine after Christmas! I haven't had anything via FB, btw - not sure if that's 'cos you haven't sent anything (which is fine) or because FB is being a pain (which is not fine).

And, yes, we have a Druckers near us - very yummy indeed2. at near-theft! Glad you stopped him in time.

KissingUnderTheMittsletoe · 19/12/2009 18:22

Out of the corner of my eye I wondered what he was doing because the only reason to go where he was going really was to get to my table, and as I had just plonked the bags down, the handles were all sticking up in one bunch...

Close call, but it makes you think though..I nearly had to have another piece of cake .

Sorry you are not finding it easy Alice, there really isn't much worse than pregnancy sickness,

bellavita · 19/12/2009 18:26

I have never heard of Druckers.

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 19/12/2009 18:28

Someone discribed it as a continual red wine and whiskey hangover which i would say is a pretty accurate description

TinselianAstra · 19/12/2009 18:34

I'm working up til Christmas Eve (don't expect there'll be much work actually happening that day though), someone was asking for working solidarity earlier.

Haven't eaten a mince pie yet. Still cooking things.

DidSantasMum · 19/12/2009 18:35

I have just figured out why i am so pleased to be spending this christmas with my ex and his family rather then my own... My own is trauma almost makes my dilema slightly easier although my mother is being a complete pita about everything at the mo.

Here is the situation. Mum is fantastic at the mo with sorting ds out for school and picking him up and various babysitting duties in evenings and when ds is ill. However this summer she is going to emigrate so she can top up her pension which means I have no support. There are no childminders in the area (i have checked) and the breakfast club wont take ds as he is too much trouble behaviourally and allegy wise . Which means i am a bit stuck with early starts and when he is poorly. Ex has suggested that I look into schools down in that area as then he can help out with pick ups and drop offs and share the poorly days plus there is emergency backup help from his family. The issue is that I dont really want to move ds' school as it is absolutely fantastic and the medical care he is getting is amazing but I cannot afford rent in this area so am stuck at my parents house and am limited with jobs. So there are pros and cons for looking else where. With teaching you are not allowed to say no to a job if you are offered it. So i need to make a deicision over christmas blind not having looked into the schools and other stuff. However will probably do some basic research and then ask lovely ladies on here for some info. but what would you do move the school for the support and own space or stick with the fantastic school and medical care (IME it is not available at the same standard in the area i would be looking). That is my dilema. Anyone got any wise words or do you think it is worth opening up the the general vipers (who seem to be in a really nasty mood considering it is christmas)

KissingUnderTheMittsletoe · 19/12/2009 18:36

Sorry FB, I can't figure two or three people on FB as I don't go on very often, because I am always on here, if you have me can you leave me a little message so I can remember who is who, [senior moment emoticon]

KissingUnderTheMittsletoe · 19/12/2009 18:43

I have read that DEM, and will give it some thought to see if I can think of any practical 'advice'..but can see how tough that is...

bellavita · 19/12/2009 18:49

Wow DSM what a dillema, I am really not sure what to say although a support network can be worth a lot..

DidSantasMum · 19/12/2009 18:56

Kissing FB has a picture that resembles her - you will recognise it.

I think what is holding me back is really the school and medical as the school are about to provide the support he needs without a statement mission impossible and when we lived down that way they were f@king useless re-allergies and sleep issues. I am worried we wont get the sleep meds that saves us both.
