...for our 31st Heathy Eating thread- I can't promise that we aren't re-cycling titles for the thread at this point, and like any sequel it will no doubt be full of inferior lines and piss-poor cinematography (after all, who can beat the links to Terry Wogan? Oops), but we are all here and welcome any newcomers who want to join in the frenzy and hilarity that are the Shiney threads, named for our glorious leader

We chat, support, and shout at each other in varying amounts, and try to stay on the straight and narrow for health, weight-loss or both. Join in, and have fun- it's cheaper than weightwatchers, and there are rude jokes and bargain shopping codes too- what more could you ask for?

I got the La Senza PJs in the shop and they wrapped them really nicely, but I guess that's because I was there watching them do it.

hellsbelles · 04/12/2009 11:09

hello, sorry I've been crap. I've been so busy my brain hurts! I just did a quick catch up so sorry if I've missed anything but CONGRATULATIONS !!!! Alice and BOF so sorry about your job and hope today is bearable.Happy birthday Teddy.

Does anyone know the trick to walking in heels - have just got some truly sexy ankle boots which look fab if I just stand still but if I walk I sway all over the place - they have 4.5 inch heels and a slight platform....yikes! I"m not used to walking in heels and wondering if it's a bad idea (particularly as I will be wearing them to a party where there is sure to be much alcohol!)

KissingUnderTheMittsletoe · 04/12/2009 11:17

Oh...definately Sazz.....just DON'T invite my DS around to yours!

KissingUnderTheMittsletoe · 04/12/2009 11:18

Helles....strutt it like you own the world Sista!

TrillianAstra · 04/12/2009 11:19

Alcohol actually helps with walking in heels, to an extent. When sober you overcompensate for your wobblyness and end up being more wobbly.

KissingUnderTheMittsletoe · 04/12/2009 11:26

Oh and apparently it is sexy if you sort of draw a figure 8 with your hipbones and increases your chances of orgasming, but don't blame me if you fall over lol..

BitOfFun · 04/12/2009 11:31

Morning all! Just back from the service, which was very nice with a lovely eulogy. I just made it in time. Unfortunately I seem to be allergic to Catholicism these days, as as soon as the priest appeared in the foyer and doused the coffin in something incense-laden, I started streaming with snot and had to spend the whole funeral mass mopping at my nose as quietly as possible. I must be damned, like something out of the Omen that disintegrates in the sight of God or similar...anyway, I got away with it, being at a funeral- I must have looked absolutely devastated , when the reality is I would have been much more discreet if I was going to cry at all

My mum has gone on to the Crem with my brother and her brother and his wife, but I cadged a lift back as I was no good to anyone. I am taking decongestants and anti-histamines now, and wondering what I have done lately to piss God off

Anyway, it was a lovely service, and it was good to see so many people there.

BOF - that must have been very disconcerting. But glad it went as well as it could have done

Kissing - LOL at the figure of 8 - I can't quite work out how to do that but I'm sure will cause much merriment for my friends if I do try it (while drunk and wobbling on heels)

KissingUnderTheMittsletoe · 04/12/2009 11:37

Oh BoF.... I am glad as it went as well as these things can..

Take care this afternoon and weekend.

FiveGoMadonTheDanceFloor · 04/12/2009 11:55

BOF - I do sympathise with the incense. I am glad that it was a nice service and I hope you feel better soon.

The shelves just collapsed. We live near a tank firing range so i guess it just loosened it and then went crash. DD had just woken up as the cars were going woosh or vroom depending on how descriptive she is, but a chapter of Pippi Longstocking and the door left open meant she stayed in bed until 7 which is good. She will be 4 in January. The next hurdle is getting her into a dress/ skirt for school and getting her not wear her hat which she wears all the time including in bed except for when she is swimming or having a bath.

Hells, the biggest heel I have is about an inch and all I can say is good luck

BitOfFun · 04/12/2009 12:00

Agree that drink helps with heels- good theory.

First mince pie of the year... coming up...

bellavita · 04/12/2009 14:57

Oh chuff... I wrote a long post and managed to delete it before I pressed send.

Hello all

Happy Birthday Teddy

I had a mince pie with my coffee this morning at work - someone kindly brought them in!

Can just imagine you Hells tottering about on those heels.

BofF - glad the service went ok.

Fanny, sorry about your shelves and vases.

VinegarTinselTits · 04/12/2009 15:00

Who has their deccies up?

I dont usually put mine up until 2 weeks before (or get sick of looking at them) but might do it this weekend as i am feeling festive

going to hunt out my christmas CD too so i can play the ole crooners singing carols in the car

Lizzylou · 04/12/2009 15:03

I have a huge bloody coldsore all round my nose, so no swimming for me (I know from experience it makes em spread more), hate the damn things. Should really go to the docs as it is a different virus to lip coldsores apparently.....

Am minging

Putting our decs up tomorrow, Vin.

NOt had a mince pie yet this year, I love them, especially with brandy butter.

bellavita · 04/12/2009 15:05

I like your festive name Vinny

Our trees (one in the sitting room and one in the dining room) are going up tonight - DS2 has been nattering me to do it. Hopefully, if I am nice to DH, he will go and get a real tree on Sunday for oustide the front door - I could go get it myself, but don't want the pine needle mess in my car

hellsbelles · 04/12/2009 15:06

ummm- I'm still not sure about these heels. They make my legs look better than I ever though possible (oh why I why have I always worn flats) but they are very dangerous!

Vinny - you are making me feel festive too - no deccies up yet but I will succumb soon. DH and I fight every year over real vrs fake tree (I always win ;-) ) - he's of the shiney school of fakery. I can't be doing with all that nylon though - may change my mind if DD has a taste for pine needles.

Five - for your shelves!

VinegarTinselTits · 04/12/2009 15:07

Oh lizzy i feel for you, i get a reoccurring cold-sore on my nose whenever i am ill or run down, it is hideous looking, like i have sprouted and new life form, yes the doc will give you some anti biotic cream for it

Lizzylou · 04/12/2009 15:08

Hells, you will be fine in your heels.
Thanks loads for the books/CDs, they are fab, I sent you a FB message

I can't wear heels as am 5ft 9 and DH is 5ft 11, he gets a bit Tom Cruise about it all. Plus I tend to look a little Danny La Rue-esque

bellavita · 04/12/2009 15:13

Ouch for you with the cold sore Lizzy

TrillianAstra · 04/12/2009 15:13

Someone who is 5'11 has no need to be Tom-Cruise-ish. Tom Cruise is officially my height (5'7) and possibly less.

Lizzylou · 04/12/2009 15:15

I know, but DH literally checks my heels! He gets all moany about any which are higher than an inch or so
Fruitcake

KissingUnderTheMittsletoe · 04/12/2009 15:15

Oh I am nearly as tall as you Lizzy, but do enjoy to wear heels occasionally, although am a bit like a baby deer in them!

I am selfishly putting decorations up whilst the DC's are at their Big Bro's. I am also finishing the Christmas shopping in peace, having coffee with a friend. I start mince pies and Christmas music on the first of December, and am surprising myself at how festive I am starting to feel.

TrillianAstra · 04/12/2009 15:16

Heels do make your legs look lovely. I have some new shoes to wear tomorrow to my black tie thingy, they have shiny silver heels

I need all the help I can get as my legs are the legs of someone 2 dress sizes larger than me (and if I get any thinner than I am now I just go completely flat-chested before the egs get any thinner).

TrillianAstra · 04/12/2009 15:17

Tell your DH that the smarter shoes he wears the higher the 'heel' on his will be. DP is at least an inch taller in his black smart shoes than in his trainers.
