...for our 31st Heathy Eating thread- I can't promise that we aren't re-cycling titles for the thread at this point, and like any sequel it will no doubt be full of inferior lines and piss-poor cinematography (after all, who can beat the links to Terry Wogan? Oops), but we are all here and welcome any newcomers who want to join in the frenzy and hilarity that are the Shiney threads, named for our glorious leader

We chat, support, and shout at each other in varying amounts, and try to stay on the straight and narrow for health, weight-loss or both. Join in, and have fun- it's cheaper than weightwatchers, and there are rude jokes and bargain shopping codes too- what more could you ask for?

Oooohhh,,I have snow warning .

TrillianAstra · 01/12/2009 17:57

Snow? Oooh, exciting!

Did I mention I'm organsing a work secret santa? I'm waiting for stuff in the post for the thread one...

Lizzylou · 01/12/2009 18:04

I'm coming round to yours Mitts, your evening sounds lovely (all girly, I have to go and play bloody trains again in a minute)

Vinny/MItts I just think we all do our best, we're only human and we can snap. I find it a daily battle to hold my temper which I lose very regularly(I often hide in the downstairs loo), you just have to forget about it and not dwell.
If I did, I'd be in tears constantly.

I once threw a sippy cup full of milk at the wall (yep, it exploded) because I was sat with two ill and whingey DS's and they were doing my head in.
Which was such a smart move.
Have done the chucking on bed/sofa thing too.
At least we have the presence of mind to go for something soft.

DidEinsteinsMum · 01/12/2009 18:44

We had snow here at the weekend just enough to look pretty not enough to be a problem. Ment to ask you mits if you'd been lucky with it sunday but forgot. by the sounds of it the christmas fair has started in the village so going to chuck some warm clothes on and head out. catch ya later......

Lizzylou · 01/12/2009 18:48

My friend who is a few miles away has snow.
Bit wary about going swimming, we live at the bottom of a very steep road and 2 years ago I skidded into a wall trying to get down there in the snow

bellavita · 01/12/2009 19:05

Vinny - don't beat yourself up, I have done the very same thing... we all get stressed.

Aww Alice about the car but yay for a new one

Helloooooooooo to everyone else.

Big big commotion just outside of school today at home time.... Someone came looking for a pupil at our school but the pupil smacked this person first and literally knocked him out so cold that ambulance and police had to be called... when it kicks off, it kicks off . Luckily I had a very nice gentleman that rang the school to say he had been working just outside of the school and he had witnessed everything and would be happy to give a statement.

Had chicken curry with rice and a huge salad for tea (a huge glass of red too ).

TrillianAstra · 01/12/2009 19:25

Mmm, chicken curry sounds good bella. I'm roasting some veg (and some sausages).

Sorry about your car Alice.

I still have yoghurt. Think I'd better do something useful with it soon. Curry is a good one.

KissingUnderTheMittsletoe · 01/12/2009 19:29

Bella...They don't do anything by halves at your school do they?

Alice...does that kind of make things easier? (new car instead of repairing current one)

I am doing really well eating wise. Although I don't think I have met my target as I don't think I am getting enough strenuous exercise.

Squeezy, any news on warmth and water yet?

hellsbelles · 01/12/2009 19:54

sorry to hear about all the stresses - I was going to list who but it seems like everyone has had a horrible few days. I'm now without a washing machine and dryer till next monday as the repair man scratched his head, farted and then declared it a 'two man job' - feckin jobsworth. He couldn't do a tiny bit of lifting (with me helping?) so we have to wait till there is another person to help. Everyone will just have to wear smelly clothes for a few days

BOF - that safe space looks brilliant. How long did they say it would take to get it to you?

Lizzy - are you a book sort of person - I do have a report that shows you how to make money selling second hand books on amazon - it will NOT make you a fortune but could make a spare bit to cover the saturday job wages - if you want me to send it to you let me know via facebook. I think it's easier than ebaying as you don't have to do all the photographs and descriptions.

YanknCock · 01/12/2009 19:54

I finally weighed in again this morning. Gained 1.4lbs, but considering how bad I was I think that's perfectly reasonable. Have a feeling I went over in points again today, but haven't gotten around to checking yet.

Tonight tried to force DH to eat salad as part of a taco salad, but he ate around the lettuce and tomato and went straight for the meat and cheese (then claimed he was too full, and did I think he was a rabbit or something, etc, etc).

Sorry to hear you've lost money on the car Alice. Our car has been a nightmare lately too, but nothing on that scale.

This is my first Christmas with this name so am thinking hard for something clever.

Ooh, and tonight in the car on the way home from pilates, I heard 'Shine on you crazy diamond' on the radio!

bellavita · 01/12/2009 19:54

Kissing, I know it is exercise that I lack. Have been doing the warm up of shiney's dvd that she sent me but cannot do full on exercise. Oh and that is an understatement about not doing stuff by halves

Squeezy - how are you bearing up? I would be in such a bad mood with stuff like that.

Am going to write my xmas cards...

SqueezyIsBackToBlack · 01/12/2009 20:27

Evening all.

The guy still hasn't been or called. He is meant to come between 5pm and 10pm. The house is FREEZING. The boiler tried to start the hot water earlier which gave us another leak (in the same place). Called my dad who told us how to drain the central heating so we have spent the past 2 HOURS doing that. We haven't showered today and DH is in at work at 6:30am tomorrow morning so I don't know what he will do if this guy doesn't turn up. Turns out we can't put the water on at all as it just rains thru the ceiling, no toilet, no water, no heating.

It is blowing a gale and peeing of rain. This guy better hurry up. We are really, severely pissed off.

SqueezyIsBackToBlack · 01/12/2009 20:30

And sorry for being miserable. Usually I am alright with stuff like this but it is just soooooo cold and just hard work.

Bugger it, I'm having a crispy chicken sandwich and a beer. Only 2 litres of water left so we are conserving incase DH needs to use it to get washed tomorrow.

FiveGoMadonTheDanceFloor · 01/12/2009 20:31

Evening all,

To all those that shout, can you add me to the club, DD manages to wind us up the at times, she has massive rages where she completely loses it and doesn't even register that you are speaking to her, she is so strong now that we have to put her in a room and shut the door until she calms down and then clear up after her. I am in awe Mitss that you can do 2 and a half hours, sounds like your and DD's evening is good.

BoF that safespace looks fab.

Hells - if Lizzie doesn't want that info about books please could I have it, trying to make a bit of money due to losing a room next year. Already have one job lined up for one day a week, and 2 possible bookkeeping jobs but as Tesco says, every little helps.

Supper was chicken and thyme risotto which was delicious, I stayed away from the ice cream and it is my weigh in tomorrow. Hopefully our pot bellied stove will be attached soon as the kitchen is freezing.

Squeezy - I feel for you with no heating and water

Had salmon fishcakes with spinach, rocket and watercress salad for tea, followed by a small portion of bread and butter pudding.
Had another long walk into and around town today.

DH is away tonight and tomorrow, and there's a long stretch of him being away coming up soon. but at having the place to myself a bit.

Squeezy, hope you've got enough blankets etc. to get warmed up.

FiveGoMadonTheDanceFloor · 01/12/2009 20:49

Sorry to hear that wastingaway, make the most of the bed space though.

Jeremy Vile had a great one on this morning, a bloke who injected his wife with heroin while she was asleep.

Evening ladies, thanks for the welcome.

Haven't been around for a day or so due to my monthly migraine. Grrr

Soooo healthy eating then. Full on pork sausages, broccoli and scrambled eggs. Atkins again!

Oh and red wine

Lizzylou · 01/12/2009 21:09

No snow, but have scored 2 Go Go Hamsters from Tesco Direct (more for me, than the boys, always wanted a hamster).

Hells that would be fab, thankyou I have absolutely stacks of books in the garage. I was feeling bad that the recruitment biz wasn't going so well and that we weren't paying ourselves, but have heard that loads of rival firms have been making redundancies, so will just have to ride it out.

Swam 60 lengths, going to bed now, am knackered.

bellavita · 01/12/2009 21:12
