Revolutionaries of The Shiney Path - The Gorillas In Our Midst Eat Healthily

Welcome to our 22nd Healthy Eating thread under the auspicious eye of Shiney the Cult Leader. She is vegetarian (like a gorilla), but you don't have to be! Or hairy!

I may be getting distracted by my over-cryptic thread title (it is hard when all the obvious ones have been done- fwiw The Shining Path are a South American guerrilla group and I'm looking at watching Che on dvd later, what can I say...), but I have been appointed Tsar With Authority for Titles, and starting this on a Friday night may be ill-judged, BUT...

We are here with the aim of eating healthily, losing weight in varying amounts if that is what we wish, and most of all posting as often as we're able to support each other. We have a good laugh too. Allegedly. But we're no trouble, no siree...

New-comers very welcome, just introduce yourselves and pile in!

The exercise ball sounds good. Well, you know you have to take it easy and not be super woman all the time

I bought my step mum an exercise ball for Christmas a few years ago and she was really offended and I totally didn't mean it to be

Salsavita · 03/10/2009 14:41

Yes I am still hobbling. But trying to rectify it by striding. I need to take a long stride and put my heel down first, tis sort of working. The hobble is there because it hurts to straighten my leg out hence the physio. If I put my legs out on the sofa, I cannot put my right leg down flat so that the back of the knee touches down.

daftpunk · 03/10/2009 14:42

you would have thought so wouldn't you..

sadly for some people i have become an obsession...
wish i could say what i really think sometimes, but maybe it's a good thing i can't say "fucking spineless wanker" anymore.

Salsavita · 03/10/2009 14:43

Right, going to see if the cherry and almond tart has cooled enough for me to get it out of the tin and take it up the road to my friends.

Catch you all later

Yes slimey. Very, very, very sad. OK, I am going to say this. I think MN and/or the chat topic is probably not the best place generally for this type of raw emotional upset. Saying that, I cannot imagine how I'd feel if it were me - I think I'd be more likely to disappear completely for a few weeks/months. I was in tears reading it and had to click away because I couldn't find words to say and also because it is very painful to read

TrillianSlasher · 03/10/2009 15:26

That's the thing Squeezy - you need to limit and ration your emotional involvement in stuff on here.

Repeat after me:
It's nothing to do with me.
I don't know this person.
It might not even be real.
This kind of thing happens all the time.
It's nothing to do with me.

TrillianSlasher · 03/10/2009 15:47

PAsta sauce is bubbling away.

Cheese scones or cake of some kind? I can't decide...

Salsavita · 03/10/2009 15:55

I have never had cheese scones Trill, only fruit ones. Cheesey ones just don't appeal to me somehow.

I took the tart up to my friends house and her husband, well what can I say, he cut himself the largest piece of tart and stood there in the kitchen full of nom nom noms and then cut himself another piece... He then asked me "what am I going to make next?" He has had 3 heart attacks and is not supposed to eat such food! I have made arrangements to go out next Friday night with my friend (we usually only do lunches, but of course since I now work over lunchti8me I can't) so I will feel like a proper grown up next week going out.

I take it is then.

TrillianSlasher · 03/10/2009 16:21

Cheese scones are in oven. They have the texture of scones, but are savoury and cheesy rather than sweet and (sometimes) fruity. Thinking I might also make some biscuits or similar, but I can never make really good soft chewy cookies.

I was talking in general about not getting too involved in other people's crises. You have to look after yourself first. I'm quite good at being tough on here, but I know many posters are not and they can really upset their own mental wellbeing by giving more emotional energy than they have to spare.

TrillianSlasher · 03/10/2009 16:23

Tart does indeed sound lovely Bella - it's you whose DH's workmates commission you to make lovely stuff isn't it?

I'm not really into carrot cake. And I only have one lemon which isn't quite enough for a lemon drizzle cake is it? Maybe if I make a small one... I have bottled lemon juice, d'you think that would help?
