Welcome to what may be our 21st Healthy Eating thread!

We take it with varying levels of seriousness- in fact we are a pretty light-hearted bunch generally, but we do support each other, whether we are trying to lose a little (or a lot of) weight, or just get fitter.

Shiney is our Glorious Leader , ably backed up by the ass-kicking Sycamoretree and many other lovely regulars.

Come and join us- post as much as you can and join in the fun, nay, the phenomenon that is the Shiney thread

Can anybody tell me how to do to the power of ten on a scientific calculator? Dd1 has homework, had to borrow a calculator from a neighbour to calculate compound interest, but we don't get the buttons

If there's an EXP button it would be number EXP then exponential.

So 2 to the power of three would be 2 then EXP then 3.

I think.

DreamsInBinary · 01/10/2009 20:15

Gah - fingers and brain too slow

BitOfFun · 01/10/2009 20:17

Oh, my brain hurts. Never mind, she will have to ask the teacher and say we can't do it.

OP posts:
DreamsInBinary · 01/10/2009 20:21

Whoops - meant 2x103, not 23.

Do you need it to be times ten to the power of ten, or just to the power of ten?

If it's just to the power of ten (like squared, or cubed) then there should be a (big X little y) or (big y little x) button.

I don't think I'm helping, am I

HidingInTheZoo · 01/10/2009 20:24

nope I'm just hiding in the zoo

SqueezyCheese · 01/10/2009 20:25

Hiya ladies

Have I missed anything? Gossip?

Am watching last weeks X Factor online so will try and catch up on the rest of the thread later on.

Have not been good! Major eating and drinking over the past week, am not gonna even attempt to look at the scales for a while as I know it will be bad. Never mind

Hope everyone is well and behaving themselves?

jetonthedancefloor · 01/10/2009 20:26

sorry not been around much guys. Friends little 4yr old daughter died - funeral tomorrow.

Still slogging away, but atm, RL is too crap to regularly post. Hope that is ok.

BitOfFun · 01/10/2009 20:28

DD has given the calculator back now and stropped upstairs for a bath as I am like so uncool trying to help her and it's no biggie to just say it's the teacher's fault for not showing them properly

So I won't attempt to understand now, but thanks!

DreamsInBinary · 01/10/2009 20:29

Oh god, Jet. Hope you are OK.

Things will get better.

Lovely to see you whenever you have time

SqueezyCheese · 01/10/2009 20:31

Jet

BitOfFun · 01/10/2009 20:35

Oh fuckity fuck. I am so mightily pissed off with dd2. Both of them actually. I had two hours sleep max because of this sinus infection, and dd1 is being mardy, and dd2 just crying and crying and getting up constantly and pulling her nappies off and wetting the bed three times a night and AAAARRRRGGGH!

All that kind of stuff

OP posts:
BitOfFun · 01/10/2009 20:37

Sorry jet, I didn't look back before I blurted oiut my insignificant shitey grumbles- that's so sad.

OP posts:
jetonthedancefloor · 01/10/2009 20:39

thanks guys, and dont worry BOF - lack of sleep does that

Not looking forward to funeral at all - it was really sudden and she was a beautiful little thing

BoF and Jet...

Jet, how heartbreaking. I am so sorry.

HidingInTheZoo · 01/10/2009 21:00

jet

NormaSknockers · 01/10/2009 21:00

Jet, so, so sorry to hear that what awful sad news I hope the funeral goes as well as it can

NormaSknockers · 01/10/2009 21:01

I'm off to bed guys, just did my 2nd run of week 5 & I'm whacked. Cannot shake this headache so going to have a shower & go to bed! Nighty night all

Lizzylou · 01/10/2009 21:09

Oh Goodness Jet, how awful
Thinking of you for tomorrow. Her poor Mother.

Sorry you're knackered and not feeling great, Bof.

After complaining like a bastard about lots of companies in the past few months, I am going to praise the company (the scousers!) who came to fix our kitchen. They were fab, stayed until 6pm to try and get my cooker to work, it doesn't but thats OK, they were such nice blokes. Even if they did keep shorting the electricity. So tomorrow I will ring the firm and tell the Insurance company/Loss adjusters who employ them.

TrillianAstra · 01/10/2009 21:09

I will be sympathetic to you BoF - lack of sleep makes me feel (and be) horrid. Even when worse things are happening to other people and you feel your stuff should be insignificant it doesn't actually make your stuff any less bad.

TrillianAstra · 01/10/2009 21:29

By the way I'm reading the uninvited groping thread - it is getting quite funny/w.eird
