Well done TMW, I really agree about exercise helping you when you feel low. My brother suffers from depression and he really reaped the benefits when he was exercising regularly and eating well. It was an amazing change in him.
My Mother suffered a lot with what she called a "Black Cloud" post-hysterectomy and the death of her Father, she was very overweight as well and it didn't seem to lift (years later)until she took control of her life and looked after herself. She is a different woman now.
It is hard sometimes to feel like you are worth the effort (and exercise and diet can feel like an effort).

Sazzles, bargainous jeans

Jet, I would hold off for as long as possible, unless you could pick up some charity shop/ebay bargains to see you through if your trousers are literally falling down .
Must be a great feeling, good for you.

NaughtyAlice · 15/09/2009 18:02

Fanny - have just seen your recipe (prawn pot) Do you serve anything with it? Looks yummy, going to have a crack at it next week.

I always get put off the curry recipes because of the thousands of ingredients needed, but i suppose if i bought them they would be there for next time, hmm.... (sorry for wittering on, dinner cooking and i am starving)

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 15/09/2009 18:04

Ooooohhh... get thee to the charity shops, and a few basics from. the lower priced clothing outlets(!). Half of my clothes are from charity shops and if you can find ut what days they get new stock it can be a real boost to your wardrobe.

I don't know abput E-Bay, I am pretty much an e-bay virgin.

Tea was a pork casserole with loads of broccoli, and banana and ice-cream for pud.

Is it me or is it cold? I just can't get warm at the moment.

IWantAChickAndADuck · 15/09/2009 18:12

Hello.... You all seem to do so well on the excersise front, I actually do zilch in the way of excersise, how do you fit it in?! I walk everywhere though (not through choice though I might add!)

Have done much better food wise today though... have been to thee shops for my SK!!So have had 1 bowl of that, a mullier light and meatballs and spagetti for tea!

Hope everyones ok

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 15/09/2009 18:24

Will use Kboxing tonight to offset the flake I am eating!!

ChickandDuck, the majority of my exercise fits in with my daily routine, ie walking to pick the DC's up from their Dad's, or taking DD to school and cycling/running back. If you are walking, try to increase your pace slightly so that you are getting breathless. Could you cycle occasionally instead of walk?

bellavita · 15/09/2009 19:03

Hi all

Have had chilli/rice and salad for tea. Resisted the bottle of beer that DH offered me, but took a quick swig of his instead

I am still hungry...

Today, I have been sworn at by both a child and a parent in separate instances But hey ho, all in the line of duty eh!

Have just made some Nigella muffins and have not had a taste.... yet...!

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 15/09/2009 19:13

mmmmmm muffins

bellavita · 15/09/2009 19:32
bellavita · 15/09/2009 19:33

Lizzylou · 15/09/2009 19:39

Bella

Boys have been feral this evening, despite me playing football outside like a loon. Was such a relief when they went to bed, now they look like angels and I feel guilty for getting cross and fed up.

Trying to put stuff on Ebay (so SKINT!) and can't find the bloody card reader and my crappy laptop won't take the card direct from the camera.
And DH won't be back from bloody London until 10pm latest, he will be knackered poor thing, up at 4am, back at 10pm, hobbling still from Cricket (apparently he was accosted by some drunks in Manchester city centre at 5.30am this morning and was worried cos he couldn't run off due to his legs being like wooden planks).

Sorry, just needed to offload, haven't really spoken to an adult today

bellavita · 15/09/2009 19:46

Aww Lizzy, offload away..

DoNotBringLulu · 15/09/2009 19:54

Bella, I love Nigella's recipes, they always turn out well and her cakes don't turn out as flat as a pancake.

Lizzy, remind me how old your dc's are? I used to book the creche at our local leisure centre, good way of getting some exercise and a chat.

Lizzylou · 15/09/2009 19:58

No Bella, really am v fed up this evening, I will bore you rigid.

Sticking to positives, think have sorted some house stuff and work seems to be taking an upwards turn (which is good because have been paying childcare for a year and getting nothing back), so all good.
And have just found the card reader, so good.

Yep, am sticking to good things (and not thinking of the fact that I have not been v good dietwise!).

Lizzylou · 15/09/2009 20:03

Lulu, my DS's are 5 and 3, I work from home (own business, not great to set up a Legal Recruitment firm in a recession!) and DS2 goes to preschool and then a CM until school pick up at 3pm 4 days per week. I couldn't put them in a creche then (though there is an excellent one close by where I used to go) as I'd feel too bad, I miss them so much anyway. AND DS2 keeps asking for his CM, even when he was ill. The other day CM was telling me how she got a huge hug from DS2 when she went to pick him up from preschool, when I do, hmm, not so much
Gawd, how sad is that, jealous of your CM?
I just feel a bit like I'm doing all of this for nothing and moving further away from my boys, and I am sick of not earning any bloody money!
I did have a few chats at drop off/pick up, but my close friends weren't there today, s it was all "hasn't he grown" type chatter!

OK, so have ranted again. Sorry. I am being over dramatic and feeling sorry for myself.
AGAIN

DoNotBringLulu · 15/09/2009 20:09

Lizzy, it's all understandable, you have a rant.

I admire you setting up your own business. I used to do Usborne Books, not the same thing, I know, but it takes so much dedication.

Why don't you have a 'lizzy' evening and have a glass of wine? That's allowed.

Lizzylou · 15/09/2009 20:11

Thanks Lulu.
I am sorry, I realise that my problems are not major in the scheme of things but just at the moment I feel a bit lost and lonely and not quite sure that I am doing the right thing.

SLURP!

Lulu, you are lovely, thanks, you've made me feel a whole heap better.

NaughtyAlice · 15/09/2009 20:12

Lizzy poor you, it sounds like you are struggling a bit lately. It is always so much harder when Dh is away too isn't it? I get the same, don't be too hard on yourself, you sound like a great mum (playing football at the weekend, wasn't it?)when you are a bit down everything seems a million times worse. Over on the slatterns thread we often say how we all come across as right miserable cows because we offload there rather than in real life, but it is just one side iyswim? Give yourself a treat tonight and be kind to yourself

NaughtyAlice · 15/09/2009 20:14

Oh, and meant to add, i won't be about this evening as going to get drunk enjoy a glass or 4 of wine

Lizzylou · 15/09/2009 20:18

Thanks Alice
I have been playing football every night, only to try and assuage my guilt at being a crap Mom!
Sometimes having a footie mad Dad and 3 brothers comes in useful!

Enjoy your wine Alice

bellavita · 15/09/2009 20:44

Aww Lizzy - give yourself a break

We all have our down times, look at me on Sat and Sun - tears every 5 mins.

Lizzylou · 15/09/2009 20:46

I am Bella, am eating and watching Masterchef.

Are you enjoying your job Bella?

Lizzylou · 15/09/2009 20:47

BTW Lulu, I did Usborne books for while, it is far harder tan what I do now, so respect!

bellavita · 15/09/2009 20:49

Oh yes, I am enjoying the job .

Do you enjoy yours?

Yep, when I am not banging my head against a brick wall.
Tis not like it used to be when I was employed doing the same thing, far harder and v hard to motivate yourself when it is knockback after knock back....BUT I think the market could be getting better, so heres hoping!
