For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Happy birthday to your dd and mum LR

Hi Guad. I'm guessing you've got the electricity hooked up in the new place?

How exciting. A new house.

Franny isn't back, and no new babies yet.

Banana
Peas
juice

I am a bad bad vegger.

Guadalupe · 09/08/2009 21:55

How funny, LittleR. He has been naked most of the day actually, at the end of the garden constructing things with dd and being covered in chocolate. Happy birthday to your dd.

Lemur - We have electricity! It was done a couple of weeks ago but there was a fault. They found it yesterday. The dresser had been fixed to the wall and was pressing on the socket switch and tripping the whole circuit. [dull]. It is all ready, just a case of finishing packing and going there. No tiles yet though. Any non urgent expense is on hold.

Plenty of fruit and veg but also plenty of wine and cake. I need it I tell myself. I have developed pompholix (sp?)excema on my feet due to stress. I told the gp she had made my day as I was suspecting something much more vile.

SuperBunny · 09/08/2009 22:06

Hello

Haven't read thread, sorry. Been away for a week.

pinkspottywellies · 10/08/2009 06:59

Morning all!

Not long now TF I love that you're focusing all your energy into socks (she's so in denial!!)

Happy bday for yesterday LR DD.

I've been up an hour. Think I'm going back to bed now until DD wakes up.

TigerFeet · 10/08/2009 07:03

stuffitlllama · 10/08/2009 07:13

Hi I came to lurk to see how Tiger is.. good luck for the next month.

Think you are all wonderful.. just reading the lists have imbibed huge quantities of virtual fibre.

best wishes to all xx

TigerFeet · 10/08/2009 07:17

Stuffit! Hello! How are you?

stuffitlllama · 10/08/2009 07:19

hello Tiger I'm fine thanks

things are going alright

jolly hot but what's new

so how are you feeling? glad it's not a blazing summer?

TigerFeet · 10/08/2009 07:31

I'm OK, absolutely delighted that the hot summer didn't happen

Are you feeling more settled now?

stuffitlllama · 10/08/2009 07:38

yes.. it's a lot better, all the children are happy and dh much more

the thing that never gets better is being at the top of a very difficult society, it doesn't feel so good, one can't really make a whole lot of difference

but as for family wellbeing, that's fine

was pregnant one August and it was so dreadful I vowed never again a summer baby! one just rolls around panting

was the meet up fun? did you go?

TigerFeet · 10/08/2009 08:56

I didn't go, but by all accounts a good time was had by all. There was talk of dog poo though. I met Pink a few days ago, my first veggermeet

I can imagine that it's a very uncomfortable society. We found it similar, but to a far lesser degree obviously, when we lived in Hong Kong years ago. I think that in the interests of self preservation, one just has to ignore it or shut oneself off to it, if at all possible.

I'm glad to hear you're all feeling happier

stuffitlllama · 10/08/2009 17:08

Meet sounded lovely, I would have liked to go but my UK timings were wrong. Although the prospect of preparing quality picnic food would have had me quaking.

ABitWrong · 10/08/2009 17:51

Ooh Stuffit hello

stuffitlllama · 10/08/2009 18:13

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/08/2009 20:33

Valentine is now on and he's talking about summer berries

Guadalupe · 10/08/2009 22:38

Thank, you Lemur! Dh had to collect a wooden settle from Essex and I though we could go down and come back via a pork belly but he did it on his way back from London in the end.

It is too deep, the settle, and I am most annoyed about it. Either we cut off the arms so it is more of a bench or we have to sell it and look for another. I am having all sorts of dull mental conversations about not mutilating a piece and appreciating the value of an object for it's own sake and practicality, ie, the childre actually ebing able to sit at the table.

ABitWrong · 11/08/2009 04:22

watercress, spinach and rocket
apple

pinkspottywellies · 11/08/2009 08:55

Hi Stuffit. Glad things are better

littlerach · 11/08/2009 10:23

Suffolk people I need some advice:
What is Sutton Hoo like?
It is on our list for next week but is it worth going to with dds?

Also, is there a windmill that they can go and look at? A working one?

I have 2 mouth ulcers and I htink it is form eating too mnay carbs and not enough F&V
Grrrr.

Hello Stuffit, nice t see you

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 11/08/2009 10:43

I loved Sutton Hoo. It's an ancient burial site of a very important person, however they don't actually know who it is. They were buried inside their ship with lots of possessions.

It's a National Trust site and there is a playground, visitors centre (it explains more about what is buried under the mounds and a life size mock up of the ship and the treasures found in it) and coffee shop. You can also walk around the mounds and there are guided tours.

There is a lot of open ground there so you can take a picnic if it's a nice day.

Defo worth a visit.

There is a working windmill in Stanton and a working watermill in Pakenham which are within a few miles of each other.

Stanton Windmill and the Pakenham Watermill aren't open all day everyday, so check the opening times.

I've been to the Watermill and it's great. They do a tour, there is a small tea room and there is a lovely field by the millpond to have a picnic.

I should work for Suffolk Tourist Information!

littlerach · 11/08/2009 14:21

Oh you are wonderful thank you.

mollyroger · 11/08/2009 15:30
