Wake Pea Up Before you Goji - 10/10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Well, I couldn't turn down the half price blueberries could I?!

Sainsbo's and Tesco's sell the nakd bars.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/06/2009 19:38

Who's going tonight Pointy?

pointydog · 19/06/2009 19:40

I hope it's ciaran , he's full of it. An d I am always on teh side of the underdog, no matter how twattish.

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 19:42

i have heard it said many times on here pointy that breakfast and / or lunch are the key
you have to pack them in at the beginning of the day or you are left facing a long evening of chewing

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 19:43

i don't think there's ever been a discussion of Big brother on 10 / 10 before

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 19:44

see how i manfully restrained myself from hmming

pointydog · 19/06/2009 19:45

lol. I had actually typed a further sentence along the lines of {Let's not talk about BB here. It is so unsavoury) but then I deleted it.

I realaly don't want to start discussing it though. Fear not.

pointydog · 19/06/2009 19:46

I had written it in brackets, hence the brackets.

pointydog · 19/06/2009 19:47

dd1 has to watch it to keep up with the school chat and I keep her company. I'll say no more.

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 19:53

that can count as your exercise pointy

FlappyTheBat · 19/06/2009 19:53

my dd's both love veg but to get even more in their diet, if I'm making any type of sauce, I'll add a few blocks of frozen spinach into the sauce. Just need to get them to eat more fruit, summer is fine because they love all type of berries but struggle past bananas when summer is over!

those nakd bars look great, much better than my usual breakfast when I'm working, so will try and buy some of them.

I like playing around with words/song titles, always have done, which is why I have genuinely always at 10/10 threads.

Iliketomoveit, had a school friend who had a picture of George Michael on her ceiling above her bed, she loved him sooooo much!

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 19:58

berries really are the nicest fruits aren't they
we might go picking on fathers day

tomorrow we are going to thetford forest with friends for the day
i have never been before

Guadalupe · 19/06/2009 20:08

We were thinking of fruit picking on Sunday. However some friends have come over unexpectedly from France and they are on the A11 and heading for a beer festival by the sea.

There's music and kids stuff, and beer, so we might take the van tomorrow. Not sure I can be faffed to camp though.

Flappy - yes do stay. I was watching that BBC drama Occupation last night, and although I'm sure it was fairly removed from reality I did think how stressful such long periods away must be. I hope you are feeling okay.

FlappyTheBat · 19/06/2009 20:29

It's a bit too early for fruit picking here, although when we do go, just hope they don't weigh dd's before we start and then after we've finished!!

Beer festival sounds lovely, camping for one night is a bit of a hassle but I would do it again.

I am lucky, although dh is away for a while, he isn't going anywhere dangerous this time which makes the whole thing an awful lot easier to deal with.

FrayedKnot · 19/06/2009 20:35

Evening all

Hello Flappy, glad the misunderstandings are all sorted and you are thinking about staying Is that the typical length of time for someone to be away in your situation? I would find it very hard too.

Franny there are some lovely bits of Thetford Forest and they have done a lot in recent years I think to make it more accessable. Hope you enjoy it.

Have had fairly unveggerly day due to pub lunch and DH cooking dinner.

Has pointy found her way out of the BB hole yet?

Oh horrible binman, Guad, I'm gald you complained.

FlappyTheBat · 19/06/2009 20:41

I'm about earlier, would love to stay as although I am very strict about what dd's eat for the majority of the time and I know that they eat well in excess of the 5 portions of veg and fruit per day, the same can not sadly be said for my own diet.

Having said that, have managed to resist the lure of takeaway pizza and having fish and chips(oven cook) with quite a bit of veg.

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 20:47

so shall we overhaul you flappy?

FlappyTheBat · 19/06/2009 20:54

Yes please!!!

I want to be super fit and healthy for when dh gets back home!

Have 2 goals to aim for, returning to mountaineering or having dc3. Either one will need to improve my health and fitness.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/06/2009 20:55

I didn't realise BB was a dirty word here

Cherries
dried apple
cranberries

Guadalupe · 19/06/2009 21:20

It's not really a hassle in the van as everything is in it already. We just get in and go, but I don't sleep that well squashed up and unless we're camped right by the action, ie, noise, we'd have to take turns to sit with dcs anyway.
Would be good to see friends though.

Thetford forest is lovely, Franny. We went cycling there recently.

SuperBunny · 19/06/2009 21:29

I like Thetford Forest too. There's lots of interesting little spots there and I vaguely remember wild orchids but I may have made that up.

Guadalupe · 19/06/2009 21:36

No, it's well known for orchids.

FrayedKnot · 19/06/2009 21:43

Mountaineering, Flappy?

SuperBunny · 19/06/2009 21:49

It was the choice between mountaineering OR DC3 that impressed me.

My decision making usually extends to cake OR no cake?

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 22:05

right then flappy tell us what you eat
then we'll all stand round and mutter offer helpful suggestions
