i bumped my head play fighting with DH about 2pm, then passed out when i tried to get up. I tried to take myself down the stairs only i blacked out again and fell down the stairs. I was out for about 20 minutes according to DH and dd was crying cos she thought I had died. I fell asleep as well and was really cold. I jarred my back and bumped my head again and twisted my ankle. Someone said I could have concussion. I fell asleep afterwards too. I feel bruised, shaky and sick now. Am just looking on MHS website about blackout and am now very scared. Its happened a few times in the past few weeks without having panic attacks.

Great anniversary im having!

you're too scared to go up the stairs? Do you have a downstairs loo? How are you managing to look after the kids? Perhaps you should call community health or something like that?

Hulababy · 09/05/2005 10:23

Is there anyone who can come over to your place this moning? To give you the confidence to go upstairs - preferably someone who will do something about it if you do fall again?

compo · 09/05/2005 10:25

like your husband perhaps?

Titania · 09/05/2005 10:26

i have nobody here. i dont have a downstairs loo. dd can take herself up which helps. think i would look a bit odd walking a mile to the docs in my pjs.....

You said earlier that you were feeling stiff this morning....are you feeling lightheaded? How did you feel just before you blacked out yesterday?

If I were you, I'd crawl up the steps (like a toddler), and then shuffle back down the stairs on my bum....so you're less likely to hurt yourself if you black out again.

Have you been eating properly?

Oh come on this is a wind up surely?

Titania · 09/05/2005 12:25

OP posts:
Fio2 · 09/05/2005 12:27

Enid you really are shocking, I must admit I think the same but I cannot prove it as an untrue so will give tit ania the benefit of the doubt and wait for an indepth runby of what the GP think. I also think titania has alot of problems that mumsnet cant help her with

Titania · 09/05/2005 12:28

sorry

OP posts:
Enid · 09/05/2005 12:29

because
a) if you blacked out for 20 mins you probably have serious concussion and are not in a fit state to be looking after your kids
b) your dh just sat and looked at you while you were laying there for 20 mins and now he has gone to work leaving you with the kids
c)you are now scared of stairs and yet you are at home with 2 small kids

sorry this just makes no sense to me

Enid · 09/05/2005 12:30

so you do think its a wind up then fio

I have just spoken a friend of mine who is a gp. She said if you were really unconscious for 20 mins there is a real risk of brain swelling and you must go and see your own gp or to A&E asap.

I'd find out whether your dh was telling the truth or not very quickly if I were you.

misdee · 09/05/2005 12:40

why are u waiting till 1.45?

SPARKLER1 · 09/05/2005 12:41

TBH there is no way I'd have waited until now to seek medical advice. I'd have been to A&E when it happened either by ambulance or my own transport. It's a scary scary thing to have happened.
