For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

LR, at least you are a nice weirdo

Franny, it is pissing me off too.

But about these flowers...seriously, why are elderflowers less worthy than cauliflower?

Why five weeks away Bunny, is it to do with moving back here? Oh blimey, that's going to be hard, but if it is to do with moving try and remember that it's for the greater good.

I haven't seen the Dettol advert.

ahundredtimes · 04/06/2009 10:25

That Dalai lama quote sounds like bullshit to me. As if that'd change human nature in a generation fgs. Everyone else would be nodding and having the hairs raise on the backs of their necks, and I'd be the one at the back frowning and looking around me incredulously and putting my hand up.

LOL @ Lr's dd telling her teacher. I think that's so sweet and funny. I love it.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 04/06/2009 10:28

sshh 100x, don't ruin the illusion for me

ReallyReally · 04/06/2009 10:56

the Dalai Lama is stuffed then really

if even the veggers are glaring at their kids and threatening to stuff their toys in bin bags

I've been reading The Art of Happiness on and off for a while but the bloke who wrote it annoys me a bit - I mean obv the Dalai Lama isn't annoying, that would make me a Really Bad Person.

I don't anticipate today being a good veg day since I have got dd1's cold and need to eat chocolate to kill off the germs

I knew it was coming because she just sneezes everywhere. I don't know who brought her up.

littlerach · 04/06/2009 12:35

TooT, surely flowers count?

Am scoffing huge salad with carrots and sweetcorn and tomatoes in
And pear.

I am permanently ravenous at he moment. You'd have thought hot waether, cold drinks, not hungy. But no, v v hungry.

TooT, I am doing the car boot sale near you on Sunday. Does it get busy? I ahve to be there at 7am Dd1 ois coming to "help"

TooTicky · 04/06/2009 13:23

It gets busyish if the weather is good...we will come down and watch you swelter say hello

Oh, if anyone has a problem with loofahs then DON'T CLICK HERE but it is rather glorious.

OP posts:
littlerach · 04/06/2009 14:51

Not even clicking
Yes, come and say hello. And buy all my crap

strawberries

mollyroger · 04/06/2009 15:51

oh help me with a HTT way of supporting ds1. He auditioned for Yr6 play with his friends for one of 6 parts in a bunch. He chose the audition piece and was word perfect on everyone's part. But he was the only one who didn't get a part. I suppose I should be saying: ''hmm. Sounds pretty frustrating, buddy!''

What I really want to do is go into school and tell mean old teacher she's being a mean ol' teacher!

hheellllp!

ReallyReally · 04/06/2009 16:09

molly yes it is not not not fair

however my mother once went really OTT about a similar thing when I was about 15

I remember her reaction more than anything; it made me feel even more unhappy about it

I had just been feeling a bit sad and left out before; with her support I became a Victim of Terrible Injustice and Possibly The Most Unpopular Girl in the World

if you do talk to her to say look, he worked really hard you mean old bag, which is perfectly fine to do imo, just don't tell him you did, is my advice

FrannyandZooey · 04/06/2009 16:46

oh 100 you have pissed on my bonfire
i was doing Wiping and thinking this is GOOD i am doing GOOD WIPING and changing the world in one generation
you can't say the Dalai Lama talks bollocks [genuinely shocked]
do you not believe human nature is basically good then?

as for the flowers, if you can't see the nutritional difference between a cauliflower and an elderflower, well hmm at you

FrannyandZooey · 04/06/2009 16:51

i have made a frittata with so much veg in that the eggs only come about half way up the sides
is this going to work? hmm and hmm again

mollyroger · 04/06/2009 16:56

thanks really.
I know life isn't fair. But the poor little dude has had so much happen recently which isn't fair, that he is at severe risk of giving up trying at anything.
And I am feeling a little like that on his behalf.
I won't say anything to teacher though.

TooTicky · 04/06/2009 16:58

:-p Franny

That loofah link...I was so tempted to label it simply "Franny don't click here" and see where your curiosity took you

Your frittata might well fall to bits. Elderflower fritters are safer.

TooTicky · 04/06/2009 16:59

Molly that is a bugger.

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 04/06/2009 17:13

Well, fgs he rarely says anything particularly interesting does he? Jeez, I could be the Dalai llama I reckon, if they let girls in. The whole hoo hah about him seems v. Emperors new clothes to me.

Simplicity and kindness bring compassion, without compassion we cannot know ourselves, before we can know others we must know ourselves.

Religion and faith should show us what unites us not what divides us

Our planet should be treated with the kindness and love we might show our children and our parents - we are as one and of one with the planet

See. It's easy.

mollyroger · 04/06/2009 17:24

red is really not your colour, dahlink...

ahundredtimes · 04/06/2009 17:27

Though I'd admire him re Tibet and China and all that. It's just I'm not so sure about the wise old man thing.

re human nature, I don't think it is inherently good no. I don't think it's inherently bad either. But say there was a revolution in human behaviour caused by wiping and loving - which strikes me as unlikely - and then everyone was being kind and compassionate and sharing and understanding and all that. There'd always be some fucker - also loved by his mother - who'd think 'hmm, if I'm unkind, I'm going to get some advantage over these mugs.'

ahundredtimes · 04/06/2009 17:29

You need to go give that teacher some Dalai Llama sayings Moll. Make placards saying 'if one child is excluded from the school play, then ALL children are excluded. For one childs pain is the pain of the world' or something like that

FrannyandZooey · 04/06/2009 17:31

"he rarely says anything particularly interesting does he"

my frittat looks ok actually

why are you all teasing me all the time? ALL THE TIME
if it isn't the dalai lama it is flowers and if it isn't flowers it's nuts and if it isn't nuts it's LOOFAH PICTURES

mollyroger · 04/06/2009 17:37

better teased than ignored

FrannyandZooey · 04/06/2009 17:37

i went to vote
there was an ENORMOUS long list of people to vote for
about 12 of them
i think 7 were variations on the Bigoted Twats party and then there was one about ANIMALS
i mean REALLY? i like animals as much as the next person but i don't expect to be voted into the european parliament on the basis of it

and then of course there was the BNP
ruddy shock seeing it written there isn't it? i felt like handing it back and saying "how DARE you hand me a ballot paper with the BNP on it???"

pointydog · 04/06/2009 17:37

I went to hear Thak Nhut Hun (cannot remember his real name for the life of me) - big buddihst guy.

Very relaxing to listen to, you instinctively nodded

back later - dd2 wailing

ahundredtimes · 04/06/2009 17:38

Bring forth your interesting Dalai Llama sayings then - ones which really are thought-provoking and which couldn't be found in a gift card.

Did you know that when he was reincarnated from the 13th dalai llama two crows appeared at his house? And evidently all dalai llama's as they get reincarnated have crows show up at their houses to protect them? bloody knew birds would get in on this somehow.

FrannyandZooey · 04/06/2009 17:38

well by a narrow margin molly yes

are you just making general comment or was that meant to point out the fact that i ignored your post? i was getting around to it
when i had finished ranting and frothing a bit
