Why do we not vaccinate against chicken pox?

My SIL has just mentioned that her DD is having some more jabs this week - and one of them is chicken pox.

Why do we not vaccinate against chicken pox in the UK?

Can it be done privately?

Any thoughts?

Jeez - got logged out and then it brought me back to the wrong thread.

Blueberties · 12/10/2011 02:05

I'm getting cross posts on two threads.

Look, you're clearly around and you're not bothering to answer my question on the other thread. So avoid away, it's late, I'm off.

Sorry, but anecdotes in newspapers, Hansard and especially vaccine forums are not stats.

Blueberties · 12/10/2011 02:27

I am aware they are not statistics Hmm this is very revealing about you. You are aware that stats are made up of individual numbers and that those individual numbers represent cases like this?

So for every case denied without investigation, the stats are undermined?

There's no need to be sorry. I know exactly what I'm talking about.

mathanxiety · 12/10/2011 02:46

And exactly how many cases are 'denied without investigation'?
Because you have mentioned three, which is quite underwhelming.

WHO states that there are so few directly vaccine attributed deaths that a risk cannot be calculated. Theoretically it could be argued that a comparison can't be made between that & diseases with an accepted risk of death but practically it would be most pragmatic to treat it as negligible.

I just came off this thread because I was double cross thread posting in the middle of the night on a similar thread.
