For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Have read back but don't understand. What was wombling doing on TV?

My children will eat everything apart from eggy quiche or omelette (is that how you spell it?) They are pretty good and unfussy about food.

I have been in a foul mood with them today, dd has homework which she claims not to be able to do - and does groaning and whining and lying on the floor writhing when I try to explain, which makes me go prickly and shouty, so we've both been horrible to each other for the past two hours. We are supposed to be at a neighbour's party right now, but I have sent them on ahead as I needed a coffee in silence and to do deep breathing.

Boco · 10/05/2009 13:14

Good luck Moll.

Tatties · 10/05/2009 14:24

Hello

Wombling are you going to be on again?

I won't attempt to catch up but hope all is well. I am rather excited that we have a strawberry plant! We've never grown our own fruit before [excited]

TooTicky · 10/05/2009 14:37

Ooh Tatties hello

New pics on profile...my birthday boy and the super lemony lemon cake!

TooTicky · 10/05/2009 14:39

Oh Boco, we have days like that.

Huggy vibes to molly.

TooTicky · 10/05/2009 14:56

C'mon c'mon, somebody admire my pics!!
The cake contains 4 lemons so I can legitimately boast about it on here.
And ds1 always contains fruit.

littlerach · 10/05/2009 15:04

V good TooT

littlerach · 10/05/2009 15:15

Really, the cake looks so good.

We went ot BoA and the festival was realyl realy good.
Dd2 held a hen and they both did stuff from scrapstore and my friend's son played yhe didgereedoo and it was sunny and good

And then Higgidy pie fo rlunch
with so much slald
and potatoes that were so teeny.
Have starwberry tarts but am too stuffed

Wombling, is it on again?

Tatties · 10/05/2009 15:17

Great pics TooTs When was his birthday?
Boco we have lots of days like that atm too. Especially the prickly and shouty bit

Ds has not fed to sleep for the last 3 nights I think this may be the beginning of the end. Well maybe.

littlerach · 10/05/2009 15:19

Oh and children ana food?

Dd2 eats anything excpet tinned tuna.
Though someitmes she doesn;t want somehting, she rarely says she doesn't like it.

Dd1 doesn't like beans. Or gravy. Or any sauces really.
Or eggs or anything ot do with eggs.
She is funny with food - wouldn't have raost beef with gravy but would wolf down just the beef.
At school she won't have hardly any of the meals in case she doesn;t like it.
Her real problem is traing food.
But as a toddler she was incredibly fussy - at her nursery she was the only child that wouldn't eat any lunches, the rest ate it all. No pasta or rice, no poatto unless mashed.
She got better when dd2 started eating "propoer" food.

Fran, my friend has 2 children - one was weaned on purees etc, the other BLW. BLW one is v fussy and friend is actually worried about her weight (though cos she is a teeny bit tubby). Puree one eats everyhting and is stick thin
She has a thrid child now and reckons this iwll be the test!!!

TooTicky · 10/05/2009 16:41

Ds1's birthday today. He is 10!!

I will not bore you with my dcs' likes and dislikes, would take a week to read!!
They are all fussy in different ways

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 10/05/2009 17:06

So...is that a LEMON cake? you made lemon cake and flaunted it in front of a lemon cake lover....hmmm...

It looks fab...and knowing your cooking will taste fab as well...bah.

I am MOVING NOW!!!!!!!!

I understand the principle of BLW but what does it stand for? (duh)

My DS does that Boco, and it turns me into a three headed monster.

He is 11 and we are starting to resolve it with bribary negotiations.

Will be thinking of you Molly....you know what is best for your child and ignore the morons people who think differently. Stick to your guns, and stay focussed and calm, and only shout if you have to.

Sounds like a good day LR. We were unexpectedly invited to a birthday drinkies with a lovely couple, (they are customers but also good friends now). I want her to come and be my mum and run my life for me because she is so graceful and serene and has such a big heart.

exceeded 10 but not listing as is a virtual repetition of yesterday but with a long walk this morning because I was in a foul mood needed to think.

Guadalupe · 10/05/2009 17:24

Wow, Toot, that looks amazing. Happy birthday to your ds.

Boco - dd doesn't get homework yet, how annoying for you, it sounds like a big stress.

I remembered by accident that is the festival so we went to town and there were free things and bands and acts and stalls and fun stuff all over the place. I quite enjoyed having a pimms and listening to music but I am not feeling that sociable and I loathe all the polite conversations with people that you half know from the school run and someone you waitressed with twenty moons ago. I can't find my sunglasses therefore pretending you can't see people is much harder.

Guadalupe · 10/05/2009 17:25

and they have been missing for a week so if I don't find them soon I have to buy new ones and no doubt as soon as I do they will reappear immediately.

pointydog · 10/05/2009 17:40

great cake, toot. I like to see the decoration of cakes.

Guadalupe · 10/05/2009 17:42

Toot always does good cakes. Did you make a dalek once, Toot? Or was that a knitted one?

That reminds me I must go and do flapjacks for lunchboxes.

mollyroger · 10/05/2009 17:48

beautiful cake TooT.

thanks for all good thoughts. I am very nervous.

pointydog · 10/05/2009 17:50

what are you appealing against, moll?

mollyroger · 10/05/2009 17:51

Guad - should have had several Pimms thus achieving a portion of fruit and achieving a state of relaxation rendering you obvlious to people you didn't want to make small talk with,

mollyroger · 10/05/2009 17:53

pointy. whaddya got?

Oh sorry, wrong film.

Ds got third choice secondary school and has SEN (not statemented) and is the only person going to school he was offered and so has been very upset. wHICH Is bad news as he is a bit school-refusnik anyway and lacks confidence. And so we felt we owed it to him to appeal (as we are entitled to).
The things you do for your children...!

pointydog · 10/05/2009 17:57

oh goodness, the whole choice thing and fighting for school places in England is bad news. It must be a rotten time, especially when so many people will be whooping about the place they got.

mollyroger · 10/05/2009 17:59

oh and his stupid SATS start tomorrow - which is really helping with the mood on the Good Ship MollyRoger tonight...

FrannyandZooey · 10/05/2009 18:13

molly good luck with it
i hope it turns out the way it is meant to be
you are good eggs for doing this for him

TooT great pics and cake!
