Leg Pains at night..... Dr is testing for Bone and Prostate Cancer......Am very scared

RTKangaMummy · 29/04/2005 22:59

DH has been having leg pain and lower back pain for last 2 weeks.

Dr thought it was Sciatica and slipped disc. But not now.

But as DH has the pain worse at night it is a symptom of cancer.

So today saw GP again and he immediatley sent him for blood tests at hospital

We are going again to GP on Tuesday.

I am really scared that he has prostate cancer and it has spread to bones in pelvis and left leg. So therefore has secondary bone cancer.

He doesn't have the back pain any more just in the leg.

Has anybody had any experiance of this?

Please help me?

have just read this and am sending you and your dh my best wishes it must be so worrying for you.I understand as dp and I have spent many days waiting for results I hope you get good news Can your gp ring the hospital lab for results?I have done this before when really worried and they have understood xx

RTKangaMummy · 03/05/2005 12:51

The results all come via computer

and so I guess not

I suppose if Drs were able to do that it would then take up the time of the people testing

I know that is what I thought so mega frustrating

I said will it come in in next few minutes and he said no they come in these batches

I'm a bit of an 'energy / healing cynic' (so not sure Reiki etc. is for me) but I think there is no doubt that certain osteopathic manipulations, for example, have an obvious impact on the body...

I once woke up with such incredibly debilitating pain in my neck that I didn't want to call 999 as I wouldn't have been able to get downstairs to open the door, and didn't want them to smash it open ! (dw had left early for work and I was having a doze !!!!)... anyway, called my osteopath mate around who did about 1/2 hour of constant massage / tweaking and then one big KERLICK !!! And my pain dropped 80% and I could move my head more freely... was quite an experience...

noddyholder · 03/05/2005 13:14

I do reiki and it has helped me enormously so I would say go with it I was cynical about it too but it has been amazing for me and has even shown in hospital results My doctor just said whatever it is keep doing it so I have!

RTKangaMummy · 03/05/2005 13:17

Our friend did REIKI on me and was very very relaxing

If it does just relax DH

That will a good thing

OP posts:
noddyholder · 03/05/2005 13:18

sometimes that is enough in these situations he is probably terrified

RTKangaMummy · 03/05/2005 13:22

I have not seen him so frightened since I was in hospital 10 years ago

And DT1 died and DT2 was in NNU ITU for 3 months.

He needs something to relax him and if REIKI does that then

Am not going to tell friend beforehand about cancer scare incase it influences her treatment IYSWIM

hub2dee · 03/05/2005 13:28

Another trick to relax big bear grapplers: lavender essential oil in a burner. I use it to go into chilled out ANTI-WIMP state before dentist !!!!

Yoga is also very powerful, if you find the right teacher / right place (not that I'm doing any at the mo) !

Agree that if Reiki works to destress then go for it.

TinyGang · 03/05/2005 13:30

Just wanted to send you some more good wishes. What a horrible, frightening time. I really hope it's good news and that you get it very soon.

noddyholder · 03/05/2005 13:31

reiki is not diagnosis/treatment based so it will not affect her treating him.It is a channeling of energy from light (in simple terms) and the practitioner doesn't even need to know what is wrong if you don't want to tell. The reiki will work regardless Hope it helps him Let us all know as soon as you recieve any news I am crossing everything for youxxx

RTKangaMummy · 03/05/2005 13:34

Oh I will tell you guys on here as soon as the results come in

We had been thinking that Dr would phone by 8pm and then at 7.51 the phone rings

we both jump and I answer and it is my mum who knows nothing about what the blood tests are for

so I tell her I will ring her from my mobile

Then I think about listening to 1571 and at exactly the same time as my mum rang Dr rang I was only on phone to my mum for less than 1 minute and at that exact time the Dr rings

What are the chances of that?????

Anyway DH prostate level is 0.6

Normal level is up to 4

so

DH DOES NOT HAVE CANCER

WHY DID WE NOT LISTEN TO 1571 AS SOON AS OFF THE PHONE RATHER THAN SITTING WAITING?????????

THANK YOU MUMSNETTERS FOR ALL YOUR LOVE, SUPPORT, POSITIVE VIBES, PRAYERS, AND HUGS

THE POWER OF MUMSNET WORKS AGAIN

THANK YOU

YOU ARE ALL DEFFO BRILL

WE STILL DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH DH BUT AT LEAST IT IS NOT CANCER

WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A PRIVATE MRI SCAN ANYWAY TO FIND OUT WHAT IT IS

V. glad to hear it. Hope the other explorations reveal something that makes sense of the symptoms !

BTW - ref cricket - was he a particularly fast bowler ? Understand that can wreak havoc with shoulder joints and the nerves that run around there...

Anyway, very glad there's a smiley in the air !

RTKangaMummy · 03/05/2005 21:56
