Leg Pains at night..... Dr is testing for Bone and Prostate Cancer......Am very scared

RTKangaMummy · 29/04/2005 22:59

DH has been having leg pain and lower back pain for last 2 weeks.

Dr thought it was Sciatica and slipped disc. But not now.

But as DH has the pain worse at night it is a symptom of cancer.

So today saw GP again and he immediatley sent him for blood tests at hospital

We are going again to GP on Tuesday.

I am really scared that he has prostate cancer and it has spread to bones in pelvis and left leg. So therefore has secondary bone cancer.

He doesn't have the back pain any more just in the leg.

Has anybody had any experiance of this?

Please help me?

Thanks guys

We phoned up and changed the appointment to 11.00am this morning

We wanted it to be later so there was more chance of the blood tests results being there

DH thinks they may still not be back but we can just hope.

Anyway we can ask Dr questions about both outcomes

Blood tests bad and good IYSWIM

I went to bed around 2am and so went straight to sleep Thank goodness

DH was already asleep

He says he has lots of butterflies in tummy this morning

RTKangaMummy · 03/05/2005 10:24

Thanks

Am going to get ready now

Butterflies in my tummy

Be back later

if I am later I may have had to take DH to have more blood tests or something

BUT promise as soon as we get home will post

OP posts:
RTKangaMummy · 03/05/2005 12:16

Well we are home

All the results were back APART from THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE

PSA

was not there

The rest of them were within the normal range apart from ESA which was raised which indicates there is a problem somewhere but doesn't say where

The bone test came back within the normal range BUT that does not completly rule out Bone cancer 100%.

SO REALLY UNTIL WE HAVE THE PSA WE ARE STILL NOT RULING OUT CANCER

So we will have to wait for the phone call

Dr is going to ring us when the PSA result comes in so more waiting

OP posts:
suedonim · 03/05/2005 12:18

Oh no, not more waiting. I so hope the fact most of the tests were okay is a good sign, Kanga. emoticon.

Lonelymum · 03/05/2005 12:18

Sorry you haven't had it resolved fully yet. It must be so wearing for you. How long until the last result comes back?

JoolsToo · 03/05/2005 12:20

kanga - understand you still worried but you must take something positive from these results?

when do you expect the call?

I'm 'positively' hoping its going to be good news

RTKangaMummy · 03/05/2005 12:23

We were in with Dr for over 30 mins

he says that he is still worried until the PSA comes in

DH back is not the problem

But the nerve down the leg is the problem and something is pushing on it or making it react

We just have to find out what

He agrees that we can go for MRI and that will be on NHS if the PSA level is raised

If not we will deffo go private

we cannot go through any more waiting

Dr has signed DH off work and to just do light duties ie not all day

OP posts:
RTKangaMummy · 03/05/2005 12:26

Thanks guys

Yes it is for these results

Just amazing frustration that the really important one was the one missing

They come in batches and came in just minutes before we went in to see him

So we have to wait for the next batch

maybe later today or tomorrow

DR will ring us as soon as they come in

OP posts:
bundle · 03/05/2005 12:26

rtkm, glad you've got things started, keeping everything crossed for you, x

hub2dee · 03/05/2005 12:35

Oh.... thinking of your Kanga ! Hoping the PSA will come in OK and you will sigh a big sigh, and hug a big hug.

FWIW, is / was dh a particularly physical bloke doing a lot of contact sport / physically tiring stuff when younger ? I only ask because neural networks are funny things, and leg pain (any pain) can sometimes be caused by constrictions / wear / old damage in various, seemingly unrelated bits of the body. It might not (normally) be your cup of tea but alternative approches - from a chiropractor / osteopath might well be useful in helping make him more comfortable.

RTKangaMummy · 03/05/2005 12:38

Thanks I told DH about all the posts on here on way to Drs

It really helped while we were there to think of all the positive vibes, prayers, good wishes and hugs from all of you

Thank you

Our GP has certainly been brilliant and we told him we wanted him to be completely honest with us

We also told him that although we had had a terrible time since Friday we were glad that he voiced his concerns rahter than trying to hide it

Like I have said before I believe in total honesty and so even if DH does have cancer would far rather know about it and then be able to deal with it rather than let my immagination run away with me.

I am feeling more positive than I did over weekend but am so frustrated about PSA result.

RTKangaMummy · 03/05/2005 12:41

Hub2dee no he wasn't/isn't athletic

He played cricket in his 20/30s

We did have appointment for Oestopath but cancelled it after Friday and will prob make it again after everything else has been ruled out

friend is going to do REIKI on him
