For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I am going here this evening. It's our wedding anniversay today.

We were meant to have a night away but my mother has selfishly had her holiday delayed so we weren't going to do anything but now we are going out for a lovely meal.

mollyroger · 25/04/2009 10:59

Oh my Guad!

I'll have
A Taste of Line Caught Mackerel: Tartare, Soused, Warm Smoked

or

Wood Pigeon, Cooked Two Ways, Savoy Cabbage, Turnip, Raisisns

followed by
Shropham Pork, Slow Cooked Belly, Tenderloin, Braised Beans, Sage

then
Lemon Curd Tart, Lemon Sorbet, Lime Posset, Italian Soft Meringue

and the cheeseboard! With port.

Happy Anniversary; what a lovely place to go
How many years are you?

TooTicky · 25/04/2009 11:06

Dp has had a Jehova's Witness in earnest conversation on the doorstepfor at least a quarter of an hour. Bet he is wishing he hadn't knocked. Or maybe they have each found their match and will become best friends and run away together and have stimulating discussions.

Guadalupe · 25/04/2009 11:09

Only married two years. It's cotton I think!

Yes, I like your choice too. I usually go for the lemon puddings. Don't like the idea of a soft meringue though. I had a vile pudding once of custard with raisins in and an island of soft foamy egg. Boak.

TooTicky · 25/04/2009 11:09

Dothey cater for vegans? If not,why not? Will you ask awkward questions?

Dd1 got a Subway voucher on a bus ticket and I asked awkward questions and they had to get boxes out of the store room and peer at the ingredients lists and dd1 despaired. I rejected everything. I think they were glad when we left.

mollyroger · 25/04/2009 11:11

doesn't hurt to dream, Toot

Having a black cat and broomstick tends to deter JWs from knocking at ours...

But last time they did, I beamed at them and said :''oh yes, Come in! You tell me about your god and then I'll tell you about my gods, shall I?''

They made their excuses and left.

Guadalupe · 25/04/2009 11:12

Um, I think there is a vegan thing on the menu. Artichoke and tortellini? Maybe not the puddings though.

mollyroger · 25/04/2009 11:12

Are you giving him a present Guad?
How about a spare set of car keys.....

Guadalupe · 25/04/2009 11:13

Ha ha. Where is your broomstick Molly? By the front door?

mollyroger · 25/04/2009 11:14

broomstick is a special one with my nickname and GTI painted on it. Was 'amusing' present from workfriends years ago. Used to be by doorstep, now lives on the landing.

Guadalupe · 25/04/2009 11:16

Yes, I gave him a 200 year old map of St Pauls journey through Europe, hastily bought yesterday in the junk shop because I thought despite agreeing not to buy each other anything because of the house, he will probably get me something anyway.

Except he didn't, so I am milking it and have had a lie-in and fruit salad and now he is taking boys into town to collect dd from dram and I am gong to have a quiet bath and read the paper. Better than a map I say.

Guadalupe · 25/04/2009 11:17

Does anyone else manage not to eat much the day they are going out for dinner? This was my plan but I am starving in anticipation of it.

TooTicky · 25/04/2009 11:18

Molly

Guad, hope it's lovely. They say there are no crayons though,so what willyou do while you are waiting?

Dd1 and ds1 filmed dp and the JW and have made a small documentary!

TooTicky · 25/04/2009 11:20

Eat a little Guad or your stomach will shrink and you won't be able to eat dso much.

Tatties · 25/04/2009 11:26

ooh gosh I couldn't not eat all day if I was going out for dinner, I would have a terrible headache and be all grumpy

FrannyandZooey · 25/04/2009 11:36

i will have Hot Cross Bun & Butter Pudding, Marmalade Ice Cream, Darjeeling
Tea Syrup, Orange

oh

what do you mean i am not invited?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 25/04/2009 11:38

p.s. it is puddings like that that have made me a willowy size 14

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 25/04/2009 11:38

I don't mean not eat at all. I have already had breakfast. I just mean not much, which is proving hard as I have my eye on the white loaf and butter.

The crayons bit was funny wasn't it, Toot. They bill sunday lunch as being civilised and without crayons so I take it that means no children!

I foolishly ran my bath before they left and I just went to get in and not only is it cold and full of ducks, it is full of bloody tissue. Ffs.

Guadalupe · 25/04/2009 11:39

Do you like the sound of that, Franny? I thought that would be my absolute last choice.

TooTicky · 25/04/2009 11:43

Ducks prefer cool water Guad.

Guadalupe · 25/04/2009 11:44

yes, well, I don't! We don't have a combi boiler so I have wait for the whole thng to shudder and warm up again. I might go back to bed with the paper.

TooTicky · 25/04/2009 11:45

Actually, child-free places make me feelrather uncomfortable and potentially unwelcome and disapproved of. Having spent over 12 and a half years almost constantly wiuth at least one child in tow.

TooTicky · 25/04/2009 11:46

I amsomewhat hard-hearted Guad, having been without warmwater since the autumn

FrannyandZooey · 25/04/2009 11:46

oh yes i would definitely have the hot cross bun thing
i know you haven't invited me because you think i will eat all the basil bread

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 25/04/2009 11:48

No warm water since Autumn? Are you serious? I knew you had problems with your boiler but no baths? That must be hard.
