For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

pointydog · 28/04/2009 19:42

Yiou could crochet the orange peel while spitting pips out your mouth. Oral and handy

pointydog · 28/04/2009 19:44

My house, in teh middle of my street, is

1970 wimpy semi-detached box style, 2 bed plus a downstairs small extension room off living room, open plan livingrtoom/dining area/kitchen (minute).

I am not a house person.

But the estate is fab for kids

FrannyandZooey · 28/04/2009 19:46

next door have just erected (calm down nicky) giant trampoline in back garden
ds1 had a go then went berserk when made to come in for bedtime - kicked and hit dp, shouting etc
most embarrassing in front of our gentle and genteel neighbours
how would people deal with this kind of thing? at age 3 i would have just ignored entire event but he is 6 now

littlerach · 28/04/2009 19:48

Fran, dd1 got more difficult and tantrum ish as she got older.
WE thought we'd escaped the tantrum stage - ha!
I blamed school though \I guess you don't have that option.
In fact, she had a whopper around Xmas (aged nealry 8) and my mum was v shocked.

ahundredtimes · 28/04/2009 19:48

What is a house person?

I lived in a 12th century house once, that had a ghost. A real proper ghost, of two children with money. And when my parents lived in Scotland my father fell in with woman who once raced horses but now was a mystic with a black box and she told him - when he went to see her (massive face here) that she knew all about the ghost is that house, and told them the story of the children.

True story. The house was exorcised by the man who bought it from us.

mollyroger · 28/04/2009 19:49

oddly, at home, the hand thing is not too bad. But I am at a party in a pub on friday -that will be hard.

I wonder why i is so bad, today though?
(apart from the fact that I am periody)

frozen grapes sound YUM!

TooTicky · 28/04/2009 19:50

Franny, hold his hand, get down to his level, talk calmly about what he did, what it would have been better to do, etc.
Doesn't always work, but it looks good.

pointydog · 28/04/2009 19:51

lol @ franny's ds. I know I shouldn't larf but it's a familiar scene and when it isn't happening to you, it has a humorous side.

Trying to think of what I would have done. hmmmm. Got him inside calmly, by hook or by crook (ie dragging by arm, lifting and running indoors, bribery re come and get a biscuit). When indoors, I would then give stern, firm, cross lecture about poor behaviour and my embarrassment infront of neighbours, making heavy weathe rof my disbelief at the baheviour. I would send upstairs to think about what he had done and I would expect an apology later (followed by a cuddle and making up).

ahundredtimes · 28/04/2009 19:51

It comes at you in waves that's why? Deep breathing v. helpful when you have the urge I think. Proper deep breaths, makes it go away.

I don't know about tantrums. Nobody likes to be denied I suppose? Also jumping on trampolines v. exciting and adrenaline up? Warnings maybe? Who knows. All children are mad imo.

pointydog · 28/04/2009 19:53

now, compare my dragging/fireman's lift with ticky's talking at child's level and reflect. lol

pointydog · 28/04/2009 19:54

I am not a house person = I am not excited by houses. Houses are not my pigeon

ahundredtimes · 28/04/2009 19:56

Guad's whistle is my pigeon.

I am going to watch football now. Not sure why, just said I would in a moment of weakness.

mollyroger · 28/04/2009 19:57

Pretty much what pointy said.

Trouble is, trampolines not condusive to calming down and bedtime looming, really. Adrenaline would be pumping round his tiny bod and excitment.

pointydog · 28/04/2009 19:59

we used to have family jokes about going away and thinking about our behaviour

FrannyandZooey · 28/04/2009 20:03

well i did a mix of pointy and toot
was that ok?
